How Does Coconut Mojitotaste
This is a coconut mojito, a cocktail made from lime juice, white rum, sugar syrup, and coconut water. The taste of this drink will change depending on the type of rum you use. The use of a dark rum will give it a bitter taste while a lighter rum will make it sweeter. If you want to make the drink sweeter/tart, then you can add more lime juice or if you want to make it even more tart/bitter, then you can add more sugar syrup. This drink is best served cold as this helps to cut down on the sourness from the lime juice and adds sweetness from the coconut rum.
Coconut Mojito Taste is a drink that has been created using the three most important ingredients in the world coconut water, mint, and rum. This drink can be found many places around the world including popular restaurants and resorts. Its not too sweet but just enough to give you that refreshing taste you are looking for. In conclusion, an ideal cocktail would have cubes of frozen pineapple in it as well as lemon and orange slices
Whats In A Coconut Mojito
Traditional mojitos call for a base of light-bodied white rum. While its made from sugarcane and associated with tiki drinks, rum itself is no sweeter than any other spirit.
So to achieve the Carribbean sweetness we want, this Coconut Mojito recipe is dressed up with coconut cream and molasses-kissed brown sugar, which brings warmness to the drink. The best part? No simple syrup required. That means that you can make these in a flash whenever a craving hits you like a hurricane. Get it? Hurricane? Har har.
The best part of the Coconut Mojito is how refreshing it is, so just coconut cream, rum, and brown sugar wont do the trick on their own. I guess you could say that if the brown sugar is like warm sunshine, then mint and lime are the cool breeze, balancing the mojito with much-needed acidity and freshness.
Thats not it, though. It might seem like the cocktail is finished, but the last ingredient is a surprisingly important one: seltzer water or club soda. A little carbonation to top the cocktail off not only adds interest, but it actually makes the drink taste colder and helps to quench your thirst better.

While you might be inclined to choose Malibu because it’s a well-known brand, there are other coconut rums worth trying. An aged rum can be quite nice in mojitos, too. How To Make A Keto Mojito With Rum
A traditional mojito is made with rum, so that is what we used here. My husbands family is Cuban, so sticking to tradition is a must for me!
A traditional mojito is also made with sugar, but that is one tradition we have to break to keep our mojito keto friendly!
Instead, we made a sugar free simple syrup by reducing water, Swerve, and coconut flakes This coconut-flavored simple syrup is even easier to mix into a cocktail than regular sugar, which sometimes remains grainy. It also adds a unique tropical twist!
Once you have your simple syrup, all you do is muddle it in a glass with the lime juice and mint leaves. Then fill the glass with ice, add an ounce of rum, and top with club soda.
Give your drink a quick shake in a cocktail tin, or a swift stir, and youre all set!
Why To Look For Cream Of Coconut
The most important thing about making a Coconut Mojito? Make sure to find cream of coconut! Its easy to confuse with coconut cream, which is a different product altogether. Read more at Cream of Coconut vs Coconut Cream, or review these differences:
- Cream of coconut is a sweetened syrup used for cocktails, often sold in handy squeeze bottles to make it easy to add to drinks. Cream of coconut is easy to find online or at your local liquor store. A popular brand is Coco Real.
- Coconut cream is unsweetened and usually sold in cans. Its thick with a strong coconut flavor. You dont want this for cocktails, because it doesnt add the required sweetness to the drink.

Does a Mojito Contain Rum or Tequila?
The signature spirit in a Mojito is white rum. Distilled from sugar cane, it has a sweet, soft taste that works well with the other Mojito ingredients. In contrast, Tequila, distilled from the Agave plant, has a distinctive taste thats tangier and less sweet than white rum. Tequila works well with fruit juices and orange flavors, such as orange juice and triple sec or Cointreau.
What Kind of Mint Goes in Mojitos?
There is a variety of mint that works particularly well in a Mojito Mojito mint! The Mojito mint originated in Cuba . As such, it works particularly well when combined with the other ingredients, all of which are indigenous to Cuba. Mojito mint has a mild, peppermint flavor. When bruised, Mojito mint releases menthol-like compounds that result in a Mojito which feels cool and refreshing to drink. If you havent got any Mojito mint to hand, Spearmint will work pretty well.

Thank you, Sam! We hope you love it. I can’t take any of the credit for the pictures. Kim makes my dishes and drinks shine. I’m merely the cook and she’s my inspiration lol. This recipe came about after we lived in Miami. That city has some of the best mojitos we’ve ever tasted. After moving to another city in S. Florida we couldn’t find any good mojitos. So, I hit the liquor cabinet and got started. It took a few tries but I finally managed to find the right measurements to make a well-balanced, slightly sweetened mojito similar to ones we used to get at South Beach. Kim and I hope you enjoy this one, it was years in the making lol! Take care, Sam.

What Does A Mojito Taste Like
A traditional mojito is a light, spritzy drink filled with the flavors of rum, mint and fresh lime juice. Its lightly sweetened to balance the lime and topped up with soda water. The mojito is a tall cocktail thats typically served in a highball glass. This keeps the alcohol levels low and not too boozy, which is perfect to go along with a meal or by the pool.
In this coconut mojito recipe, we swap the mint for fresh basil and use coconut water to add a light tropical note. As you would expect from coconut water, the coconut flavor is light and fresh.
For a richer, more coconut-forward flavored mojito feel free to use coconut milk in place of the coconut water. You can even replace 1 oz of white rum with coconut rum if youd really like to ramp up the coconut flavors!
But we prefer the subtleties and slight green notes of coconut water, and feel it goes especially well with a good white rum and fresh basil.

Can I Use Vodka Instead Of Rum In This Coconut Mojito Recipe
In a pinch, you can absolutely use vodka in place of rum in this coconut mojito recipe. Vodka, by design, has a much light flavor intensity than white rum. The resulting coconut water mojito will be lighter and more simple. That being said, we love the grassy, green banana notes that come with white rum. As always, use what youve got and what you like!
More About Coconut Rum
In this Coconut Mojito recipe, youll use a mix of white rum and coconut rum. Why do you need the coconut rum? It infuses an intense coconut flavor. You could skip it and just use the cream of coconut if youre in a bind, but we recommend using it. Heres what to know about coconut rum:
- Most coconut rum is considered a coconut-flavored liqueur. It has lots of added sugar and a low alcohol level: Malibu Coconut Rum is only 21% ABV. In contrast, rum has no sugar and a 40% ABV. So, its more of a liqueur .
- Malibu Coconut Rum is the most popular brand of coconut rum. It was launched in 1982 as a way for bartenders to simplify making the Piña Colada. You can find other types of coconut rum, like Bacardi, Capitan Morgan, and so forth.

Coconut Pineapple Mojito Cocktails
Coconut Pineapple Mojito Cocktails are a great summer drink – made with coconut rum, freshpineapple juice, lime juice and fresh mint leaves.
I’m not even sure how I amassed such a collection of mini liquor bottles. One day there were none and now I have one quarter of a bar cart shelf full of them. I’m sure I bought them with the intent to add to a drink recipe at some point, but who knows which recipe that is now. When looking through the collection I came across a bottle of coconut rum.
Mojitos have always been one of my favorite cocktails – they have just a few simple ingredients and remind me of summer with their fresh flavors.
