Why You Should Make A Margarita With Beer

Whether its Cinco de Mayo, the 4th of July, or a simple summer gathering, a Tex-Mex themed meal is always a hit! Who doesnt love a gooey, cheesy chicken enchilada, loaded nachos, or a slushy margarita? I fell for these easy beer margaritas with my first sip over a decade ago!

  • The method is so simple, that youll have the recipe memorized with no effort. And its ready in minutes!
  • There is a time and place to make the classic margarita recipe, but sometimes an easy, tasty shortcut is just right! I keep some frozen limeade in the freezer, tequila in the liquor cabinet, and theres always beer in the fridge, though Bill gets nervous that Ill grab some of his Stella!
  • With only 3 ingredients, just toss the tequila, limeade, and beer into a blender full of ice. Hit the frozen drinks and smoothies setting or just blend until you have a slushy mixture.
  • Such a simple cocktail! Pour the flavorful, frozen concoction into your prepared glasses and garnish with a lime slice! How easy is that???!

What Type Of Tequila Should I Use In A Limeade Margarita

Im no tequila expert but there are some that are better than others. Choose a brand that you like the flavor of to ensure that you like the margaritas.

While some people may say that its ok to use cheap tequila in mixed drinks, Im not in that camp. Dont put yourself in debt over the tequila, either. But choose a nice one.

My favorites are Casamigos Blanco and DeLeon Platinum.

And you will notice there is no salt in these photos because I dont like it anywhere near my margaritas. But you do what you need to do.

How To Make Margarita Salt:

Fizzy Lime Margaritas
  • Coarse Sea Salt
  • Sugar
  • Lime Zest

Stir together 2 tablespoons of salt, two tablespoons of sugar, and the zest of one decent sized lime. Rub the edge of your glass with lime juice and roll in the salt mixture. Prepare your cocktail and serve.

Helpful tool: I suggest using a fine grater or zester for the sugar. This will give you smaller lime zest pieces vs big chunks.

How To Make A Margarita With Margarita Mix

If you have the time, make your margaritas from scratch. But if you’re in a hurry or if you’re making margaritas for a large crowd, using margarita mix can be a valuable shortcut. While you’ll miss the fresh lime flavor of a homemade margarita, you’ll be able to fill a pitcher in a fraction of the time.

Of course, not all margarita mixes are created equal. Avoid mixes that are sweetened with high fructose corn syrup and other artificial ingredients. Instead, look for margarita mixes made with real lime juice, cane sugar, or agave syrup. With better quality ingredients in the mix, your margaritas will taste closer to the real thing.

Why Limeade Is The Best Margarita Mix

Its possible to make easy margaritas without a mix! In fact, this tastes better and fresher than using any syrupy sweet sour mix.

Simply Limeade only contains fresh lime juice, cane sugar, and water. Its a great shortcut for making quick and easy margaritas. First, it saves you from squeezing a ton of fresh limes. Plus, it also has a cleaner, fresher taste than manufactured sour mixes containing high fructose corn syrup.

Using Limeade for margaritas is also beneficial when making because it involves only 3 ingredients with no juicing. The taste is perfect balance of fresh, sweet, and tart, much like Skinny Margaritas, but with no juicing!

    Tips For Making Good Margaritas

    • Keep your booze chilled. This keeps from diluting too much when mixed with ice.
    • Have fresh fruit on hand. Whether it is limes, lemons, or oranges, or even berries, fresh fruit always makes the cocktails taste fresher.
    • Ice matters. We have splurged and bought a nugget ice maker. But really the shape and size aren’t as critical as the quality. Use filtered water for your ice.

    Whole Lime Margarita Ingredients

    Margarita – The Basics

These are the ingredients you’ll need to make whole lime margaritas at home:

·Limes: Choose medium, thin-skinned limes. You’ll need two for the margaritas, plus more slices for garnishing. ·Water: Make sure the water is ice cold before pouring it into the blender. ·Tequila: Use your favorite tequila for this recipe. ·Sugar: Half a cup of white sugar is all you’ll need for the perfect amount of sweetness. ·Orange liqueur: Such as Cointreau or Triple Sec. ·Salt: Even if you don’t salt the rim of the glass, a pinch of salt in the margarita itself brings out the other flavors.

More Variations Of Limeade Margarita Recipe

    • Add club soda, 7up, Sprite, or ginger ale for a touch of fizz.
    • For Beer Ritas top with a light Mexican beer, such as Corona.
    • Muddle fresh fruit, such as blackberries, strawberries, or mango at the bottom of the glass for a fruit margarita. Top with ice, margarita ingredients, and stir to mix.
    • For a more tart drink, add freshly squeezed lime juice.
    • Try fresh herbs, such as basil or cilantro, shaken with the ingredients. The herbs also go well with fruit additions.
    • For a frozen fruit margarita, blend all the ingredients with 1/2 cup FROZEN fruit and a few ice cubes.

    How To Upgrade Your Margarita

There are so many ways you can upgrade your margarita recipe! Try out some of these varieties to shake things up a bit.

    • Spice up your salt rim. I like to add lime zest and a pinch of cayenne to the salt. You can also add a bit of sugar to the mix.

    • Try it with mezcal! A mezcal margarita is a very different experience but just as delightful. Mezcal is an Oaxacan spiritlike tequila, its from the agave plant, but has a smokier profile. It can make a lovely margarita with a complex flavor.

    • Add some fruit for a flavored margarita. This is a classic way to personalize your margarita. I love to add fresh berries in the summer, either muddled into a drink on the rocks or blended in a frozen margarita.

    • Cointreau is a type of triple sec, or orange liqueur, which is a classic choice for margaritas. But there are many types of triple sec out there that would be just as delicious. You can also try other types of orange liqueurs like Grand Marnier or Curacao, which will change the flavor slightly.

How To Make Easy Limeade Margaritas

To make these margaritas, start with a pitcher with the sliced limes and oranges in the bottom. This will add extra orange and lime flavors. Not that you won’t have plenty from the other three ingredients.

To the pitcher, add the limeade, a can of tequila and then a half can of triple sec. If the margarita is too strong, add a half a can of water to the margaritas.

Serve the margaritas over ice with or without salt. I love salt on the rim of my margaritas, but you do you. Fish out a slice or two of lime and orange slices to garnish the margarita.

Dont let the name dissuade you. Margarita purists may have some heart palpitations viewing the ingredients, but, I promise, these taste phenomenal. I know youre wondering why anyone would ever muddy the flavors of a classic margarita with beer??? But trust me these are winners.

    • Use a light lager-type beer as you dont want any obvious beer flavor. It doesnt need to be an expensive brand. And if youre watching calories, light beer is fine.
    • You do want decent tequila, though.
    • Watch out, these are potent! The sweetness of the limeade concentrate dulls the flavor of the tequila so beware!
    • Add a splash of Triple Sec or Grand Marnier if youd like.
    • PRO-Tip: To make a salt rim on your glass, fill a saucer with lime juice and another with Margarita Salt or kosher salt. Dip the rim of the glass into the lime, then into the salt. Voila! Just pour in the margarita, garnish with a lime slice and serve.
    • You only need three ingredients to make these easy margaritas, so stock up on frozen limeade, tequila, and beer. Fresh limes and margarita salt are also essential to garnish the glasses if desired.
    • If you want to serve your beer margaritas on the rocks, just mix equal parts beer, tequila, and defrosted limeade in a pitcher. Add water to taste. Stir and pour into ice-filled glasses!

The Best Frozen Margarita Recipe To Make This Summer

A few summers ago I discovered that I really enjoy tequila. Or rather tequila-based cocktails.

Ive never been a shots kind of a girl and I dont think my late 30s, with two small children, is the time to start.

I love the flavor of limes also, so I really love to make skinny margaritas.

I know there are so many ways to make margaritas out there so I decided to ask my for their favorite margarita recipes. They were varied, to say the least.

I decided I would try several of them and see which ones I like the best. It was hard work, you guys. But these are the kinds of things I do for you.

I made a traditional margarita with triple sec, lime juice, tequila and agave. It was just ok.

Several of the recipes that I had been given called for beer. Its more of a Chelada and didnt feel like a margarita.

And one called for Trader Joes margarita mix. I was disappointed.

While I still prefer my Skinny Margarita recipe for an everyday cocktail, turns out I found the best Frozen Limeade Margarita recipe that is perfect for extra hot summer days.
