How To Make Pineapple Mango Rum Punch

This rum cocktail is so easy to make. Start by filling a cocktail shaker with ice. Then pour the juice, rums, and triple sec into the shaker. I did a 3 part juice to 2 part rum to 1 part triple sec ratio for this cocktail. Your measurements can increase or decrease depending on how much of the cocktail you want to make.

Shake the cocktail for roughly 20 seconds until the outside of the shaker begins to get condensation almost crystallization. Then pour it into a tall glass filled with ice. Leave room in the cocktail if you want to add some sparkling water or soda to the cocktail to make it a sparkling cocktail.

I used pineapple flavored sparkling water for this cocktail. Ginger ale, lemon-lime soda, or just soda water will also work for this Hawaiian Rum Cocktail if you are wanting to make it sparkling.

The ingredients for this mango-pineapple rum punch are simple. I love buying the juices in the clear bottles in the juice section for easy mixers. Plus my kids can then drink the juice as they want as well. For this cocktail, I used the Tropicana branded juices. You will also need your stock of rum to make this rum cocktail.

Be sure to have these ingredients to make this cocktail:

    • Pineapple Mango Juice
    • Sparkling Water or Lemon-Lime Soda

What Rum Should You Use In A Pineapple Rum Punch

First of all, as with the coconut, this is a flexible drink and generally the rum you have in the house is going to make a tasty cocktail.

However, for the best version of the punch, I like to use a golden rum. Golden rum has more character and more flavor than white rum, but not so much that it will overpower the rest of the flavors and take over. Alternatively a mix of white and dark rum can be very nice, with a little of the dark rum to add flavor and depth.

No matter what, dont use an expensive rum in a fruity cocktail. You wont be tasting all those subtle flavors!

Debbie is really loving this coconut tequila in her cocktails lately and that would work here as well!

You could also possibly exchange the coconut rum for pineapple rum. You also could use pineapple or coconut vodka in a pinch.

Feel free to exchange the white rum for dark rum too. I happen to love dark rum over white because it has so much more flavor, however it will make the cocktails a slightly different color.

And as mentioned above, try sparkling coconut water for a little more bubble in your cocktail!

Instructions:Combine all ingredients, shake with ice, strain over ice in a tall tiki glass.

Garnish: Use simple syrup to create a cinnamon sugar rim and garnish with a pineapple wedge.

Use Any Type Of Rum: Including Pineapple Rum

This pineapple rum cocktail is unique because you can use any type of rum you like! Most rum drinks call for a specific type of rum. The daiquiri and mojito use white rum, and a Dark and Stormy or hot buttered rum use dark rum. But we created this cocktail to use whatever rum you have on hand. Here are a few types of rum:

    • Golden or aged rum: Golden rum is often aged a few years, giving it a complex flavor. Golden rum can have undertones of vanilla, coconut, almond, citrus, or caramel. This drink is fantastic with golden rum.
    • Pineapple rum: Pineapple rum is rum thats distilled with fresh pineapple. What does pineapple rum go with? It pairs perfectly with pineapple juice, mint, and coconut: or mix it with Maraschino liqueur for a fruity and complex drink. We happened to have some on hand, and its perfect in this drink.
    • White rum: White rum is completely clear and has a straightforward, mild flavor. Using white rum in this drink makes it less complex: so make sure to add the bitters when you make it.
    • Dark rum: Dark rum has a robust flavor and is aged longer than white rum. It has a dark color and a rich, developed flavor with caramel, brown sugar, and vanilla notes. Its fantastic in this pineapple rum cocktail.

How Do You Make Fizzy Drinks

You can make sparkling drinks just by adding the bubbles! Use the carbonated water in place of say lemon lime soda, juice, or lemonade/limeade.

There is no shortage of brands of sparkling water on the market right now. LaCroix started the flavored sparkling water mania but many of others have jumped in to join the frenzy. Including the generic store brands!

I have one or two that I tend to lean toward when buying it, but please try as many as you can to find your favorite. I find that many different brands have the same flavors available but one brand is better.

Lime is my favorite on to use and tastes great with say Brand A. But my second favorite flavor is coconut and Brand A isnt a great as a different brand. So try as many as you can to see what works for you.

Keep stocked and make fun mocktails for kids of all ages!

Pineapple pairs well with banana, basil, caramel, chile pepper, cilantro, cinnamon, coconut, ginger, lime, macadamia, mango, orange, pepper, raspberry, rosemary, strawberry, tamarind, and other tropical fruits. There are a variety of pineapple cocktails and it tends to work best with brandy, orange liqueurs, and rum.
