Honey Whiskey Lemonade Cocktail
A delicious whiskey cocktail that blends sweet and citrus perfectly. Learn how to make a honey whiskey lemonade drink to share and enjoy at home.
Honey and whiskey have always made an exceptional pair. The sweet taste of honey blends beautifully with the cozy warmth of whiskey. However, the advent of honey whiskey, all in one bottle no need to mix, is fairly new. These days you can find ample varieties of honey whiskey readily available and each one carries its own unique flavor.
Honey whiskey tends to be sweet and can be enjoyed neat or over ice without the addition of any mixers. But dont stop there, this blend does make for a great cocktail base! Try it blended with iced tea or give todays simple recipe a try, honey whiskey lemonade.
This cocktail has its roots in a traditional whiskey sour. A cocktail made with whiskey, a sour component like lemon juice and sweet taste brought in with sugar or simple syrup. Blending a warm liquor like whiskey with citrus and a bit of sweet creates a delicious cocktail. The key is getting the ratio of whiskey and lemon correct so the flavors compliment each other and one does not overpower the other.

Gold Rush Cocktail Recipe
This is a variation on the traditional sour with a modern twist. It was invented by T. J. Siegal for Milk & Honey in New York in the mid-2000s.
The cocktail combines bourbon, lemon juice, and honey syrup in a whiskey-laced concoction. We find that high-proof bourbon such as Old Grand-Dad Bonded works particularly well with this drink.
Note: To make honey syrup, mix one cup of water with one cup of honey in a small saucepan and place over medium heat. Stir continuously until the honey is dissolved and cool before using. The syrup will keep in a sealed jar in the refrigerator for up to five days.
- ¾ ounce freshly squeezed lemon juice
- ¾ ounce honey syrup
Combine all ingredients in an ice-filled shaker. Shake for about 10 seconds or until well-chilled. Strain into an ice-filled double old-fashioned glass.

The Absolute Best Tasting Jim Beam Cocktail & Mixer Recipes
Jim Beam is made by a family who started distilling in 1795. Seven generations on, they’ve become one of the biggest distillers in the world, producing a huge range of well-respected and award-winning whiskies. The first of the Beam family to become a distiller in Kentucky was Johannes Jacob Beam, who was born in 1770. Jacobs distillery was called Old Tub and his whiskey, known as Old Jake Beam, was introduced in 1795. Remarkably, seven generations later, the business is still operated by Jacob Beams descendants, although ownership has now passed to Fortune Brands.
Jim Beam Honey Liqueur Review
Jim Beam Honey
Before flavored whiskeys like Fireball and Bird Dog caught on, the bourbon honey liqueurs started coming back. Wild Turkey is the grandfather in this category, having had a fine honey liqueur in production since 1978, only lately rebranded American Honey. Yet these days it seems every big whiskey brand has a honey liqueur of some sort, including Jack Daniels, Bushmills, and Jim Beam.
Part of what drove the rise of honey liqueur is the same factor that sucked rye whiskey off the shelves a few years ago, namely the demand of creative bartenders working their cocktail magic. So for a whiskey drinker, the question about honey liqueurs is whether they are good on their own or with a little ice, or are they strictly mixology material?
The answer for Wild Turkeys American Honey is yes, its great neat or on ice, but that cannot be said for all of them. Alas, Jim Beam Honey falls into the mixology material end of the spectrum.
The LiqueurAs a liqueur, Jim Beam Honey falls below the whiskey-minimum 80 proof line, with an abv of 35% . In the glass, the liquid has that solid gold coloring that is the standard for drinks of this category.
The nose is very simple: it has that corn husk scent I expect to find only in corn whiskey and very young bourbon, plus a spoonful of honey. Those two smells have a good old country feel to them, so its not unpleasant, but it speaks to a youthful sort of whiskey product.

The Same Consistent Quality Since Its First Production
In 1795 pioneer Jacob Beam sold his first barrel of Kentucky bourbon. While Jacob laid the foundation for an enduring family business that has lasted through even the hardships of Prohibition, it was Colonel James B. Beam, or âJimâ â the namesake behind Jim Beam â who personally rebuilt the familyâs distillery, by hand, in just 120 days after the repeal in 1933.

Bachelor On The Cheap
Blended and flavored whiskeys are red hot right now, consumer demand for brown spirits continues to rise with American Whiskey in particular seeing some phenomenal sales growth.
Regular readers know that I am a fan of flavored whiskey, I’ve always got a bottle of something in my freezer for a chilled shot or flavored specialty in the liquor cabinet to enjoy on the rocks.; My favorite in all this tasting fun so far, has been Yukon Jack Jacapple.
Today’s tasting:; Jim Beam Peach Whiskey
I’ve sampled Jim Beam Apple, Jim Beam Red Stag, Jim Beam Honey and Jim Beam Maple.; Of the Jim Beam lot, my favorite so far has been the apple, with the others not really being repeat buys.
The description from the bottle:;;Jim Beam Peach contains all the pride of the Beam family’s 220-year history with a refreshing take on family tradition.; Our distillers have infused rich, flavorful peach liqueur with fine Kentucky straight bourbon whiskey.; The perfect mix of peach and bourbon with hints of oak.; Enjoy straight, or mix with soda or tea.
So how good is it you ask?
Jim Beam Peach Whiskey gets 3 out of 5 Bachelor on the Cheap stars.; It’s an OK flavored whiskey, but peach just doesn’t go well with whiskey in my book.; Priced at about $17 for a 750ml bottle, Jim Beam Peach is NOT a repeat buy. ;;

How To Choose A Honey Whiskey
With so many varieties on the market, how do you choose just one? If you are a fan of whiskey a particular whiskey, start with your go to brand. Many whiskey brands have their own honey version. Jack Daniels, Jim Beam, Wild Turkey, Black Eagle and more. They all have subtle differences just as their stand alone whiskeys do. After much taste testing I have settled on Jack Daniels Tennessee Honey to keep stocked in my bar. It has just the right amount of sweet and makes an excellent base for so many cocktails. Jack Daniels combine their signature whiskey with a honey liqueur that is brewed with real honey. The result is a smooth taste that is sweet without overpowering the whiskey.
Once you have a honey whiskey of your choice youll just need some lemonade. The simplicity of this cocktail makes it easy to make and enjoy at home. I prefer a brand of lemonade with pulp and lots of tangy citrus flavor. Stay away from overly sweet concentrate mixtures or this cocktail will not turn out well.
