Difference Between Tequila And Patron

Tequila Patron Anejo
Key difference: Tequila is a distilled spirit that is composed from the blue agave plant. Patron, on the other hand, is a brand of tequila. It is produced and marketed by The Patrón Spirits Company.

Tequila is a distilled spirit that is composed from the blue agave plant. The blue agave plant grows primarily around the city of Tequila, Mexico. Hence, most tequila distilleries are located in the surrounding area. According to Mexican Law, tequila can be produced only in the state of Jalisco and limited regions in the states of Guanajuato, Michoacán, Nayarit, and Tamaulipas. However, it can be shipped in large quantities to the United States of America to be bottled, and eventually sold.

Tequila was first produced in the 15th century. It generally has 3840% alcohol content, which is 7680 proof. Some types of tequila may be produced with an alcoholic content as low as 31% or as high as 55% . However, these are uncommon.

Under Mexican Law, only tequila which is 100% agave can be sold as tequila. Even so, as per American Law, tequila which is 51% agave can be commercially labeled as tequila. These types of tequila are usually called mixtos in Mexico.

According to Wikipedia, there are 5 different types of tequila:

What Tequila Is 100 Percent Agave

100 percentagave tequilas

Tequilas made with 100% pure agave will of course taste better, Cuellar says, and if you’ve come to associate tequila with a headache in a bottle, those mixed-alcohol tequilas may have something to do with it. Quality tequilas clearly label themselves as 100% agave, and if you see the word oro anywhere, stay away.

Also Know, is Jose Cuervo made with 100 agave? Cuervo’s Tradicional has been produced since 1795. Its varieties, Silver and Reposado, are 100% agave tequilas.

Keeping this in view, are all tequilas 100 percent agave?

Tequila is made from blue agave, but it does not have to be 100% agave. Many tequilas will advertise themselves as ‘100% Blue Agave,’ but the legal requirement is 51%. Distillers are allowed to fill out the rest with a neutral spirit made from cane sugar juice, creating what is known as a mixtotequila.

What is tequila made from agave?

Tequila is made from the blue agave, which, when its leaves are sheared, leave a massive pit referred to in Spanish as the piña, or pineapple. The agave juice that will be fermented and distilled into tequila comes from heating and crushing the piña.

Is Don Julio Better Than Patron

Ok, thats a generalization, but in most categories in their respective lines, Don Julio is better than Patron. Patron is flashier, with shinier bottles and a lot of hype, but for the money, Don Julio Añejo is one of the better sipping tequilas on the market. Make cocktails with Patron, or do shots of it.

The name, Johnson explains, was inspired by his Polynesian background. TERA means of the Earth and MANA is our powerful Polynesian spirit that guides us. Spirit of the Earth, he says.

In 1989 two visionaries, John Paul DeJoria and entrepreneur Martin Crowley formed The Patrón Spirits Company with the singular goal of producing the best tequila in the world. Under the stewardship of DeJoria and former Seagram executive Ed Brown, a new distilling factory was built in Jalisco. With the guidance of the renown master distiller Francisco Alcarez, the new factory was designed as a state-of-the-art complex but with a core steeped in tradition. Patrón Tequila has since become the worlds number one ultra premium tequila, outselling its nearest competitor by eight times in the United States alone. In 2004 Patrón Tequila was recognized with the American Academy of Hospitality Sciences Five Star Diamond Award. Patrón is the first spirits brand ever to receive this prestigious honor. A very soft palate entry builds to a light to medium bodied, off dry profile revealing flavours of unripe pineapple, green peppercorn and beeswax. Gently warming with a slightly oily mouthfeel. Excellent balance. Finishes dry and salty, followed by an aftertaste of unripe pineapple, cigar box and beeswax fade.40% Alc./Vol.

Handmade With Love In Mexico

With its popularity surging in New Zealand, Patrón’s Darren Mynes explains the craft behind this famous tequila

It all starts with a mythical love story involving star-crossed lovers, an evil grandmother and a demon, who devours a beautiful goddess in possession of a magical plant famed for its sweet aroma, honey-like taste and blue-green colour.

The full story is a little more complicated but from that legendary plant, blue agave, we get tequila. Exactly how we get tequila and the 60 hands that go into making each bottle of Patrón well get to, but for now some context.

If the last time you drank tequila was with the aid of lemon and salt, then chances are youre missing out on a quiet revolution that is changing the way people view and taste this versatile spirit.

Right now, tequila is the fastest growing spirit in New Zealand. Sales are up 48 per cent meaning its growth is outstripping even gin, the darling of the spirit scene for the past few years.

Driving the growth is the discovery of new tastes, new flavours and new ways of drinking that involve much more than just shots. The at-home cocktail trend, in part driven by successive lockdowns, has also encouraged people to mix their own drinks and opt for more premium brands to create the best tasting drink possible.

But how do you go about choosing a premium tequila? Whether you drink it as a cocktail at home or in a bar, or do as Mexicans do, and sip it neat. It all starts with its origins.

Can You Get Drunk Off 2 Shots Of Tequila

If youre of average weight, you would probably feel at least SOME small effect from one shot after fifteen minute or so which would increase a bit and then decline over another hour or two. Two shots might be enough to get you mildly drunk, four for moderately drunk, and eight or more for very drunk.

How Patron Tequila Is Made

All of Patrón’s tequilas are distilled from 100 percent Weber blue agave in the highlands of Jalisco. The agave piñas are harvested at around eight years of growth and sent to the nearby Hacienda Patrón distillery to begin the process of making tequila.

A rare thing in modern tequila production is the use of the tahona wheel and Patrón is one of the few distilleries that continue to employ this traditional method of crushing the baked agave. They do also use modern roller methods. It is the job of the master distiller to combine the two to make the;recipe for Patrón.

This method adds to the flavor we find in Patrón and other tequilas that use it. There is something about the old-fashioned way of extracting the juice that adds depth to the spirit. Even if it is a partial mix, it makes a significant difference.

Patrón Silver Tequila is the base for the Patrón products and is un-aged. Within this same line, Patrón also produces a reposado and añejo tequila.

The brand’s portfolio continues to grow and includes:

  • The Roca Patrón line , which uses the tahona process exclusively.
  • The luxury-grade Gran Patrón line that includes Platinum, Piedra, and Burdeos.
  • Sweet liqueurs including XO Cafe , Dark Cocoa, Incendio .
  • Citrus liqueurs under the name Patrón Citrónge in lime, mango, and orange flavors.

If Patron Is 100% Agave What Does It Taste So Awful

We all know they market the hell out of it, but why does it taste like gold if it truly is 100% agave?

Because it is made to be “non offensive”…It is a popular brand that has expectations on taste. It is a lot like Glenlivet scotch and TGIFridays. Does it taste good? Yes, I would eat or drink it. Is it great or special? No, it is just…there it is.

Not every brand plays to niche markets and some, like this, are perfectly fine if you want the exact same taste every time. Some people like more unique character and will find Patron boring , but most people that dont know tequila will actually like it, because it is a very basic/simple taste that is easier to comprehend without acting like a booze snob.

Probably because it’s not a great tequila, but a heavily marketed tequila.

There are many factors that can affect the ultimate spirit that is in your bottle: the quality of the agave pina they’re using, the water, where they make their cuts between the heads, heart and tails, etc.

That’s like your opinion man. I agree its not the best tequila in the world, and yes it is marketed heavily, which is why it is so popular. However it is 100% agave, unlike Jose Cuervo Gold which is a mix of sugar and agave. Alot of other factors can impart flavors besides the fact that it is 100% agave.

Patron isn’t great tequila but because it has so much hype they can charge $60 a bottle and get away with it.

are you referring to the blanco, reposado, or anejo?
