How To Make A Chamomile Tequila Sour
Make ahead: the simple syrup can be made ahead of time. You can keep it covered in your fridge for up to a month.
- Combine water, sugar and natural sweetener in a small saucepan and bring to a soft boil. Stir to dissolve the sugar. At this point steep the chamomile tea bags for at least 30 minutes
- To mix, just add the lime juice, tequila, and chamomile simple syrup in a cocktail shaker. Fill with ice and shake for about 15 seconds.
- Pour and enjoy!
- For the Chamomile Simple Syrup:
- 4chamomile tea bags
- 10packets of no calorie natural sweetener
- 2ouncesfresh lime juice from about 2 large limes
- 2ounceschamomile simple syrup
- Lime wedges for garnish
- For the Chamomile Simple Syrup:
- Add the water, sugar and natural sweetener in a small saucepan over high heat.
- Bring to a soft boil and stir to dissolve the sugar.
- Immediately remove from heat and add the chamomile tea bags.
- Steep for 30 minutes then remove the tea bags.
- Cool to room temperature and refrigerate.
For Each Cocktail:
- Combine lime juice, tequila, and chamomile simple syrup in a cocktail shaker. Fill with ice.
- Shake until well chilled, about 15 seconds.
- Pour into glass, garnish with a lime wedge.
How To Make Simple Syrup
Combine the water and sugar in a saucepan over medium low heat.
Cook and stir until sugar is completely dissolved.
Remove from heat and cool before using.
Store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.

Weve all heard of the whiskey sour, but did you know you can make a sour cocktail with just about any alcohol? This Tequila Lemon Sour recipe is bright and delicious a perfect cocktail for Cinco de Mayo.
Sours are mixed drinks made with a base liquor, lemon or lime juice, and a sweetener/syrup. The whole sour category of drinks was also traditionally made with egg whites to produce a silky texture and a foam head.

Ingredients In Tequila Sour
You can mix up this drink with a just a few ingredients.
Many tequila sours also include cocktail bitters, but I wanted to keep my drink focused on the fresh lime flavor and pale green color. Feel free to add a drop or two to your drink if you like.
- Silver tequila
- Fresh limes
- Simple syrup
- Egg whites
How To Make Sour Patch Kids Mocktails
These Sour Patch Kids margaritas are so bright, colorful, and fun… But are unfortunately not kid-friendly.
If you want to make these as drinks your kids can enjoy, too, you can make them mocktails! Instead of infusing tequila with Sour Patch Kids, I recommend infusing a clear soda like Sprite or 7-Up.
If you don’t want to use soda, you can use a white grape juice or other white-colored juice, but just note the juice flavor will be prevalent instead of allowing the Sour Patch Kid flavor to shine.
Once infused, pour soda or juice into a sugar-rimmed glass and add in some lime juice for a little more sour. I don’t recommend adding simple syrup to the mocktail as the soda/juice already has sugar in it.

How To Make Sour Patch Kid Magaritas
Once your tequila is infused with candy, making the margarita is easy. I always have simple syrup ready to go in my fridge, but if you don’t, it’s easy to make.
Just combine water and sugar in a medium-sized saucepan over medium-high heat and bring to a boil. Lower to a simmer and let simmer until sugar is dissolved and syrup begins to thicken, about 10 minutes. Pour into a jar or bowl and let cool.
If you don’t feel like making simple syrup, you can use a little agave syrup or honey instead. You can also purchase pre-made simple syrup.
Now, fill a shaker with ice and add 2 oz. infused tequila, 1 oz. lime juice, and 1 oz. simple syrup. Shake well and pour into a sugar-rimmed glass. Repeat with each color tequila.
Note that I served my margaritas in small coupe glasses. If you a larger margarita, I recommend doubling all of the ingredients.
Garnish with a cocktail pick skewered with Sour Patch Kids candies. These arrow cocktail picks are similar to the ones I have pictured.
Such an easy cocktail that makes a big impression! Since you’ll infuse the tequila ahead of time, these Sour Patch Kids margaritas are really easy to make for parties. Prepare the garnishes ahead of time, too, and then simply shake up the cocktails and serve them!

Use Tequila Reposado If You Have It
Any type of tequila works for this tequila sour: we recommend finding one in a mid-price range or above. The quality of the drink is only as good as the liquor! We also like using tequila repsoado in this drink, because it adds more nuance to the drink. Think: subtle flavors of vanilla and caramel. But you can also use tequila blanco: it just has a more straightforward flavor!
The Whiskey Sour Ratio
At its heart, the whiskey sour is an easy recipe to remember: two parts spirit, 1 part sour, and 1 part sweet. While those ratios may vary based on the specific sour or sweet you use, the place to start with any sour is 2:1:1.
Ive found that each drinker has a slightly different preference for the amount of sweet and sour in the cocktail. For myself, I prefer a whiskey sour that tilts more to the sour end of the spectrum than the sweet while my family prefers the sweeter end.
I also love including bitters in my sours, either in the form or dashes of a complementary or contrasting flavor or by adding an amaro to the recipe. Rather than the cocktail being just a scale between the sweet and sour, the addition of bitters makes the flavor profile more interesting and enhances both the sweetness and the sour when the elements are in balance.
The ratios are designed to be adjustable based on your base elements. For example, if youre working with lime juice instead of lemon, because it is more acidic, you might need to use less lime juice. Or you could increase the ratio of sweetener. On the other hand, using a shrub as the sour instead of lemon might mean a decrease in the sweetener depending on the sourness of the shrub. Because shrubs are often sweeter than straight citrus juice, youll need to adjust the ratio to taste taking that into account.

To Bitters Or Not To Bitters
Im a bitters girl through and through, and wholeheartedly believe the experience of drinking a well-balanced cocktail can be made better with the judicious use of bitters in a cocktail. I add bitters to my cocktails in many cases. Especially if its a new cocktail and it tastes as if its missing something.
Usually its missing balance or the elevation of sweetness or acidity you can adjust with the addition of bitterness.
That being said, if you dont have bitters, or you prefer your cocktail a little simpler, you can forgo the bitters in this basic cocktail. The sailors in the 1700s and 1800s most likely didnt have bitters and they enjoyed their sours just fine.
History Of The Whiskey Sour
Ill be brief, but the sour itself is one of the earliest cocktails. Commonly thought to have derived from punch considered to be the earliest of all cocktails its a parsed down version of that ratio. Punch generally contained spirit, sour, sweet and weak . Sours take out the weak and alter the old ratios just a little to get to a great balance of base spirit, sweet and sour.
The first recorded recipe of it is in Jerry Thomas The Bartenders Guide of 1862, but theres evidence that sailors were the first to drink this sort of sour cocktail.
Fresh water was rare on long voyages and sailors often had a ration of rum each day. To keep the sailors from getting rowdy it was cut with what water they did have. Scurvy, caused by a lack of vitamin C, was rampant on long sea voyages, and one way to keep sailors supplemented with vitamin C was a bit of citrus juice each day.
So each day, the sailors might have a ration of rum and water with some citrus mixed in. A bit of sugar would make it more palatable. Between the rum, the sugar and citrus, youd have a happy and healthy ship of sailors. Or, youd at least be able to make it to the next port.

Whats The Difference Between Using Aquafaba Vs Egg Whites To Create The Foam In Sour Cocktails
- Using aquafaba makes the cocktail vegan!;So if you dont like egg whites in your cocktail, or want to make it vegan, aquafaba is a great alternative for anything from a pisco sour, to an old fashioned sour or any type of cocktail that uses egg whites to create a layer of foam on top.
- Its easy to find and simple to incorporate. Chickpea cans are easy to find in any grocery store or supermarket. Plus, the chickpea water is something that usually gets discarded. Aquafaba is now widely used for recipes that call for whipped egg whites because of its ability to foam up when whisked.
- It doesnt affect the taste of the cocktail! This is either a pro or a con depending on your preference. Egg whites DO change the mouthfeel of the cocktail, making it creamier. Aquafaba does make the cocktail just a tad creamy, or more accurately smoother to drink, but certainly not to the extent that egg whites do.
This also means that you could make my sparkling blueberry sour completely vegan as well, using aquafaba.
The most important park of this cocktail however is the smoked tequila! Infusing smoked flavor into your tequila really couldnt be easier. I chose cherry wood because a fruity wood has a more subtle, and slightly sweeter and fruity smokiness.

The History Of The Long Island Iced Tea
The story of the Long Island Iced Tea begins in the 1920s. It was at the height of Prohibition in America. A time where booze was banned nationwide by law. You couldnt make it, you couldnt drink and you certainly couldnt drink it.
But that doesnt mean people didnt try.
Somebody going by the name of Bishop created a lethal cocktail, containing Whiskey, Gin, Tequila, Vodka, Rum, and Maple Syrup. The cocktail was created in a small community called Long Island, in Kingsport, Tennesse and was dubbed “Old Man Bishop”.
This is highly regarded to be the forerunner to the Long Island Iced Tea cocktail we know and guzzle today.
But the modern Long Island Iced Tea is widely thought to have been invented in 1972 by a man called Robert “Rosebud” Butt.
Rosebud says he invented the cocktail whilst working as a bartender in the Oak Beach Inn, The Hamptons.
This version contains Vodka, White Rum, Tequila, Triple Sec, Gin, Sour Mix, and Coke.
In his words:
“We had a contest at the bar I was working at, the OBI, and they put a bottle of Triple Sec on the bar and they asked us to make something out of it. So twenty other bartenders and myself went to work and I came up with this drink.”
From there the cocktail took off.

I know the addition of egg white can make some people squeamish, but I highly suggest at least trying it once. To create the foamy egg white, you will really want to shake your cocktail vigorously for at least 30 seconds. When straining you are looking for a thick frothy white head that is half an inch separated from the rest of the cocktail, this is a good sign you have shaken your cocktail long enough. If adding a raw egg white make you nervous you can use pasteurized egg white which are sold in cartons or simply omit from the cocktail.
