What’s The Best Way To Brew Coffee For Cocktails
Just like any latte, espresso is preferred over standard drip-brewed coffee because it’s more flavorful. You can also use other brewing methods, such as a drip cone or French press. Another option is to use cold-brewed coffee. It takes about 12 hours to make because there’s no heat involved, but this method produces a rich, thick coffee with a true flavor of the beans. Get in the habit of always having some in the refrigerator, and you’ll see an improvement in every iced coffee you make.
- Be sure to thoroughly chill hot-brewed coffee before using it in an iced coffee drink. For a quick chill, place a cup in the freezer for about 10 minutes.

How To Make Homemade Vanilla Vodka:
Vanilla vodka drinks are my favorite kind of cocktails. There are so many possibilities. Its super simple to make your own infused vanilla vodka and this will guarantee a clean taste with no artificial additives or flavors.
Infused vodka recipes are super popular right now and so easy to make in your own kitchen. Infusing is simple! Just add your favorite ingredient and let the flavors meld together.
Here is my basic Vanilla Vodka Recipe:
- Pour 12 ounces of plain vodka in a resealable bottle or jar
- Cut in half and then split open 2 vanilla beans
- Drop them into the vodka, making sure they are fully submerged
- Seal the bottle and shake well
- Vanilla vodka will be ready to use in just a few hours for a light vanilla flavor. However, it will develop a fuller richer vanilla flavor after about 3 days. Shake occasionally while infusing and before each use.
Store the vanilla vodka in the freezer and it will keep indefinitely. I add more vodka as I use it. The beans will last for many refills.
If you keep the vanilla vodka at room temperature for an extended time it will eventually become vanilla extract . See our Homemade Vanilla Extract post for full details on how to make and bottle your own vanilla.

The Best Vanilla Vodka
Loved by so many, vanilla vodka is a classic flavor. You can get a vanilla version of almost anything, including vodka. Vodka itself dates back many centuries. One early reported existence of the spirit is sometime in the 15th century, with initial concoctions made with alcohol imported from Genoa. Others say it goes back as far as the 900s where it was made in home stills as a disinfectant and for medicinal reasons.
Whatever the exact truth is, the fact remains that vodka is old and its evolved drastically. As time passed, traditions were made, and drinking customs solidified. Cocktails are always being invented, changed, and improved. In relation to vodkas entire history, flavored iterations are a fairly new concept.
Once flavored vodkas took off, though, they really took off. The market is now saturated with flavored vodkas from many brands. This has also opened up a whole new world of vodka cocktails and shots and of course, vanilla is an obvious flavor. The best vanilla vodka is sweet and aromatic but not cloying. Natural infusions often produce the best results as artificial flavoring can give the vodka a sickly-sweet, artificial flavor.

Orange Curacao is slightly tinted or clear, the liqueur will not lend this cocktail much color.

Why Make Vanilla Extract With Different Spirits
Most premium grade, pure vanilla extract producers use inexpensive sugar & corn alcohol to extract vanilla from their beans. Using a premium bean is step one. But unless you have extracted the vanilla essential oils from the bean using a premium aged and distilled spirit, then you aren’t experiencing the full taste profile of the vanilla bean.
Vanilla beans have over 300 flavor compounds and in a consumer’s short-sighted rush to “just get vanilla extract”, she/he misses the true flavor experience that a pure vanilla extract can offer. So, we have taken our time and, through trial and error, we have found the perfect spirits to extract the vanilla from our premium vanilla beans. See for yourself by comparing any of our vanilla extracts in rum, vodka or bourbon.
Minimizing the importance of premium spirits when extracting vanilla is usually a cost strategy. That’s why inexpensive “moonshine” is most frequently used. But, for those of you who drink on occasion, you know first-hand the difference between good and bad spirits. Cheap spirits produce lower-quality vanilla extract. Period. So let’s not cut corners and, instead, let’s create vanilla that has been extracted with distilled, aged spirits.
First of all, vodka is the most common distilled spirit for use with mixed drinks and cocktails. Why? Primarily because a good, distilled vodka is tasteless and odorless, allowing the other flavors within the drink to become the focus.
What Drinks Can I Make With Espresso
Espresso-flavored vodkas have been a major part of the modern boom in flavored vodkas, which made up one-fourth of all vodka sales in 2011. Espresso-flavored vodka is an ingredient in a wide range of mixed drinks. It’s often deployed to add a note of bitterness to drinks that would otherwise be overpoweringly sweet.
