Bird Dog Peach Whiskey is one of four flavored whiskeys that in addition to an unflavored whiskey are distilled by Western Spirits under the Bird Dog label. They also recently introduced a Peppermint Moonshine. It is made with corn, malted barley, and rye, and it is aged in oak barrels. Natural peach flavor is infused before bottling in Bowling Green Kentucky at 80 proof.Most every college drinker has experienced a particular alcohol that after a night of overindulgence, may not bear the smell for years to come. It may be Jagermeister, or tequila or Fireballs Cinnamon Whiskey. My personal nemesis was Southern Comfort. While not exactly peach flavored whiskey there is enough peach flavor in Southern Comfort to make me nervous about this tasting. So it is with a shaking hand that I opened the bottle of Bird Dog Peach Whiskey. The aroma is fresh crushed peaches with a vanilla and whiskey backing. The flavor enters with a sweet peach liqueur taste. There is a slight syrupy feel but that quickly fades. The peach is joined by vanilla and whiskey flavor before a quick fade with a mild mouth warming which leaves a peach flavored finish. While your typical bourbon drinker may avoid a free product tasting at their local liquor store, those who have dared to mix their whiskey with more than just ice, may enjoy Bird Dog Peach Whiskey. I did. If the 80 proof is a little heavy to drink on the rocks it does mix well with others.
