What’s Good With Bombay Sapphire Gin

Its A London Dry Gin But You Could Make It In Jersey

Which is the best Bombay Sapphire Gin?!!!

Bombay Sapphire is a London Dry gin, but thats not a regional designation . Its a style specifically, a dry style of gin that doesnt use any artificial ingredients. Instead, distillers balance piney juniper notes with a dealers choice of botanicals and spices. So, just as bourbon can be made outside of Kentucky, London Dry gin doesnt have to be made in London.

History Of Bombay Sapphire Gin

Bombay Sapphire is based on a 1761 recipe from the British era and uses a combination of ten exotic botanicals from all over the world: almond, lemon peel, licorice, juniper berries, orris root, angelica, coriander, cassia, cubeb, and grains of paradise.

This Gin was created by Thomas Dakin, who was credited as The Father of English Gin. In 1761 Dakin began commercial production at his distillery in Warrington.

The brand changed hands several times before it was bought by Bacardi in 1998. In 2001 they began marketing Bombay Sapphire as an upmarket spirit.

Beefeater: Best Budget Gin

The classics are classics for a reason, and Beefeater is known for being just that. This gin distillery dates back to 1863 and its been a staple in bars for almost as long. Beefeater has become the most award-winning gin of the past decade, and its starting price point makes it accessible for gin drinkers worldwide.

Its delicate flavour combination means it is possible to enjoy Beefeater gin neat, although wed recommend mixing into a cocktail. It contains a fragrant mix including angelica root and seeds, juniper, coriander seeds, almonds, liquorice, Seville oranges, lemon peel and orris root, making it an excellent addition to any long drink.

Its a bold and distinct gin thats still produced in London, created using founder James Burroughs original recipe despite the many years that have passed.

Enjoy Hendrick’s Gin In These Cocktails

Hendrick’s is the gin you want when mixing drinks with fresh ingredients. It pairs well with almost any flavor, from fruits to flowers and herbs.

Enjoy it with pomegranate in a poinsettia punch, warm it up mulled wine style with the hot gin punch recipe, or enjoy the lovely flavor of a delicate rose martini. It also does wonders when that cucumber is accented. A recipe like the green gin giant pairs the gin with elderflower, basil, mint, grapefruit, and fresh cucumber for an intriguing, fresh-from-the garden cocktail.

Additionally, Hendrick’s is the gin of choice for many drinkers who prefer vodka. You can use it as a substitute for a variety of vodka cocktails, as seen in the sparkling strawberry cocktail, the cherub’s cup.

Hendricks: The Best Overall Gin

Bombay Sapphire Gin Newfoundland Labrador Liquor Corporation

Its almost impossible to go wrong with a bottle of Hendricks, as its a brand that knows how to please its audience. Buy a bottle of Hendricks and it could quickly become your go-to gin no matter the occasion. A popular choice all round, it touts itself as a most unusual gin and is known for its remarkable flavours and kitsch, playful branding.

Hendricks has a variety of gins on the market but the most popular is its original. It uses rose and cucumber combined with 11 botanicals to create an alluring, distinct gin.

Its a refreshing drink thats made in a way unlike any other gin on the market. The brand uses two almost antique stills to produce its award-winning gin, which is produced in batches of up to 500 litres at a time.

Its botanicals include juniper, coriander, orange, lemon, angelica, orris root, cubeb berries, caraway seeds, chamomile, elderflower, and yarrow berries. With a medium price point, its a popular gin that deserves its fame.

Whats The Gin And Coke Ratio

Tip 1 to making the best Gin and Coke recipe: use the right ratio! Often restaurants mix up a version of this drink thats too heavy on the coke. Use the right ratio to get just the right flavor combination. The Gin and coke ratio is:

  • 2 ounces gin to 4 ounces cola =
  • 1 part gin to 2 parts cola

Of course, you can play around to find your favorite quantities. Some people complain that cola totally overwhelms the delicate flavors of gin, but they peak out beautifully in this ratio. If you prefer more gin, you can try the ratio 2 ounces gin to 3 ounces cola.

Whats The Best Tonic To Use For Gin And Tonics

I prefer the tonic water sold in the smaller, single-serving bottles. The tonic will be fresh and you wont lose any fizz. A lot of people swear by Schweppes, but we cant say we have noticed a difference enough to specify on that one. We particularly enjoy the Fever Tree and Q tonics.

For a lower calorie cocktail, you can use light tonic. Light tonic doesnt have as much flavor as regular, but it does help to lower the calories. You can also water regular tonic down with a little seltzer water or club soda.

Bombay Sapphire’s aromatic flavoring leads to a very mixable gin for any cocktail you desire. It is a perfect gin and tonic option and makes a superb . Both drinks gently enhance the gin, allowing you to enjoy it with little interference.

    Opihr: Best Tasting Gin

Although gin isnt typically enjoyed neat, Opihrs spiced gin might just be the exception to the rule. Pronounced O-peer, the brand is a relative newbie on the spirits scene that offers an adventure from start to finish.

Opihr proudly refuses to branch out with its single offering: the Spiced London Dry Gin. Its a drink with a difference thats best enjoyed on the rocks or neat to really taste each and every botanical used. Why We Love This Recipe

Along with a dirty martini, the gin and tonic was my first love of a classic cocktail. My parents used to drink them on the back patio once in a while when the weather was nice. The ritual may have hooked me first, but the bracing, herbal qualities of a good gin, the generous squeeze of lime, and the slight, sweet fizz of tonic are what sold me in the end.

    A stiff G& T is:

    • Well-balanced. A little bit herbal // a little bit bitter // a little bit sweet // a little bit sour // a little bit fizzy
    • Breezy and summery at its core, yet classic enough to be welcome all year round
    • SO easy to make. This highball cocktail is neither shaken nor stirred.
    • As refreshing or bracing as you like. We give our suggestions here, but you get to control the pour.

How To Store Bombay Sapphire Gin

Bombay Sapphire Gin should be stored at room temperature and kept sealed when not in use to prevent it from evaporating. The bottle should be kept away from direct sunlight to prevent the quality of the gin from deteriorating.

Because Bombay Sapphire Gin has such a distinctive taste, it should not be stored with other alcoholic beverages that might alter its flavor.

Strong-tasting liquors should also not be stored in vessels that have been used to store this Gin, as any leftover traces of the gin might spoil the taste of beverages poured into those vessels.

Bombay Sapphire Gin Review& Tasting Notes

About Bombay Sapphire GinBombay Sapphire’s name derives from gin’s popularity during the British Raj in India and was developed to create a differentiated brand from the more traditional British London Dry Gins. Bombay Sapphire is triple distilled and features 10 botanicals. Previously owned by Diageo, Bombay Sapphire is now owned by Barcardi and their new distillery and visitors’ centre in Hampshire opened its doors in 2014.The Gin Guide says…Bombay Sapphire gin is one of the most recognised and popular gins available. It mixes well and has a has a good level of complexity for the price point. Bombay Sapphire is also comparatively subtle when it comes to being driven by juniper, with the other botanicals also coming to the forefront. Tanqueray London Dry Gin

Bombay Sapphire London Dry Gin vs Bombay Sapphire East Gin Liquor Review

There is a beautiful gin inside this distinct green bottle with its red wax seal. Tanqueray’s crisp, dry style is the benchmark for a London dry gin without any citrus in the botanicals. It is a standard to which all other gins are compared and contrasted and also sells for a reasonable price.

Tanqueray London Dry Gin is bottled at a slightly higher strength than most gin, which makes the flavor profile beautifully bold. Depending on the market it’s sold in, you’ll find it bottled from 43.1 percent to 47.3 percent ABV . You can mix this gin into any cocktail and it won’t get lost. It is the perfect choice for mixing a balanced drink.

Distilled since the 1870s, Tanqueray is now produced at Camron Bridge in Edinburgh, Scotland, one of Europe’s largest distilleries. What’s most amazing is that this four times distilled gin uses just four botanicals: juniper, coriander seed, angelica root, and licorice.

Im Not Sure Any Cocktail Quite Embodies Summer For Me Than A Classic Gin And Tonic They Are The Epitome Of Cold And Refreshing And So Easy To Make Too

Ive enjoyed this venture into cocktail making but can I share something with you? I dont drink a lotno, really I dont! I come from a family with a history of alcoholism and as a result Im as cautious as any one person could be to be aware of my drinking habits. Sodo I drink the cocktails I make for these posts?

Not always. I only make cocktails that I already know I enjoy or if its something new that Im happy with and consider blog-worthy, then I have definitely tasted the end result but depending on the time of day, that might be all I enjoy. If theyre made later in the day and photographed I just might enjoy a tipplebut not two. Until last night.

I simply LOVE gin and tonics and throwing anything with Bombay Sapphire Gin into the sink was not going to happen. Can you blame me? Despite last nights forecast of potential snow , yesterday was a gorgeous spring day and I definitely think of a Gin and Tonic as one of my favorite warm weather cocktails.

Light and so refreshing with just a touch of citrus from fresh lime juice, its just a perfect warm weather cocktail.

Gin was first created by Dr. Franciscus Sylvus, a Dutch chemist, in the 16th century. Originally developed in an attempt to cleanse the blood of those suffering from kidney disorders, Dr. Sylvus named his creation genièvre, French for juniper, the primary botanical that is a part of the distilling process.

Transform The Martini Into A Party Punch

The flavor of this martini is the perfect base for a fruity gin punch. It can easily be made to serve any sized party, from an intimate brunch to a big wedding bash. Because the ingredients are poured equally, there is very little math involved. However, it is a strong drink. Adding a little soda will knock that down to better fit punch service while giving it a nice sparkle.

    • Begin by adding twice as much soda as the total liquor volume: Use 1/3 part each of gin, blue curaçao, and peach schnapps mixed with 2 parts ginger ale or club soda. Taste and adjust if needed.
    • Switching to a nonalcoholic blue curaçao will lower the drink’s strength as well. Look for it in the mixer section of the liquor store.
    • Dress up the punch bowl by freezing fresh berries, slices of citrus, and herbs into an ice ring.

The Laverstoke Mill building where Bombay Sapphires distillery resides dates back to at least 1086, when it was documented in King William the Conquerors Domesday Book. The site has seen a series of ventures, including an 18th century paper mill that printed bank notes for the English government, and experienced an infamous robbery in the process, before taking on its current role as a sophisticated spirit production facility.

    Making Bombay Sapphire Gin

The character of Bombay Sapphire comes from juniper, of course, and nine other botanicals: almond, lemon peel, licorice, orris root, angelica, coriander, cassia, cubeb, and grains of paradise.

Bombay Sapphire Premier Cru Murcian Lemon Gin

Brocks team aims for a more delicate style of gin. To ensure this, it uses vapor infusion. Alcohol is evaporated three times in a Carter Head still. The vapors are passed through a mesh with those ten botanicals to pick up the flavors . Water from Lake Vyrnwy is used to adjust the alcohol. In most countries, that is 40 percent . The new Premier Cru is 47 percent. The reason? Well get to that. Bottling tales place in Glasgow.

When the new distillery was constructed at Laverstoke, Bombay also built two greenhouses to assist in growing its own botanicals. One is tropical and the other temperate. These were designed by Thomas Heatherwick, better known for the London Olympic cauldron.

As well as Bombay Sapphire, this distillery makes various other gins in its range. Bombay Original London Dry Gin contains eight botanicals rather than the ten in Sapphire. I have not seen it for a while, but I always enjoyed it and sometimes preferred it to Sapphire as with all gins, these things depend on the use, time of day, occasion, and personal preference.
