With Slipknot’s dark 2001 masterpiece Iowa having just turned 19, Australian alcohol distributor Groglords have announced that they’re exclusively bringing the band’s new No.9 Whiskey to homes in Australia and New Zealand!
The whiskey was developed with the Cedar Ridge Distillery in the band’s hometown of Iowa, with the distillers saying of the drink:

We collaborated on No. 9 Whiskey, which in addition to Iowa corn, gets some extra spice from its rye content. I hope you enjoy it as much as we do. Live life, and always be safe.
Slipknot’s No.9 Whiskey was only previously available overseas, but Groglords have an exclusive pre-sale on small batch supplies, with a 700ml bottle running at $99AUD. You can pre-order it right here, with an expected arrival in October.
Batches of Reserve whiskey will potentially be in stock before Christmas, but there isn’t any official word on that yet.

Ahead of Slipknots grand homecoming spectacle in Knotfest Iowa, the band has again teamed with the award-winning purveyor of spirits in Cedar Ridge Distillery to produce a limited edition anniversary bottle of their in-demand Slipknot Whiskey.
Emblazoned with the bands iconic Iowa album artwork, the whiskey is a living tribute to both contributing collectives shared Iowan roots. Made with homegrown Iowa corn touting a flavor profile that is sweet and spicy. the finished product clocks in at bold 90% proof. Equal parts blue-collar backbone and premium spirit sophistication, Slipknots whiskey is robust sipper that conveys the quality synonymous with both Slipknot and Cedar Ridge.
A blend of 3-4 yr. old straight rye and straight bourbon mashed, fermented, distilled and aged at the Cedar Ridge Distillery, Slipknot percussionist and creative architect Shawn clown Crahan worked with distillers to perfect the final product in a way that best represents his love for the art and achieves the high quality standard associated with all things Slipknot.

Percussionist Shawn Crahan, a.k.a Clown, actually blended No. 9s two expressionsNo. 9 and No. 9 Reserve. If Clown decides to give up his musical career, he may have shot as whiskey blender, because the blends are good. In fact, Slipknots No. 9 single-handedly puts Iowa whiskey on the map and is the best liquid distilled there. Named after the number of band members, No. 9 will be available nationwide starting in August.

While rock stars have long had a hankering for whiskey, this is the first time the actual rocker did the work. And Clowns toil could very well be the push his distilling partner, Cedar Ridge, needs to get into the national spotlight.
While Iowa-based Cedar Ridge is the No. 3-selling bourbon in the Iowa market and has been distilling since 2005, its lacked a national moment and gets lumped into the Iowa whiskey conversation that often starts and ends with Templetons class action lawsuit.

There may be tequila cask-finished scotch on the horizon, as the rules for permitted cask types in scotch production have just been updated to include a much broader range of options than before. And Beam Suntory has announced that it will be bringing back Knob Creek bourbons 9 year old age statement starting in 2020. In addition, the company is transforming Bakers from a batched bourbon to a single barrel offeringstill at 53.5% ABV and 7 years oldlater this year. The company says there are no immediate plans to change the price on Knob Creek, although Bakers will now be priced at $60. Well report more on those developments as details become available.
While we wait for those bottles to roll out, there are plenty of new whiskies coming out much sooner. Heavy metal band Slipknot has collaborated with Iowas Cedar Ridge Distillery to release two American whiskeys, both a blend of bourbon and rye. Slipknot No. 9 Iowa whiskey and Slipknot No. 9 Reserve Iowa whiskey are hitting shelves nationwide in August.
Irish whiskey brand Barr an Uisce has two new releases as well. Barr an Uisce Wicklow Hills is a blend of grain and single malt whiskeys finished in oloroso sherry casks its widely available for $35 starting in August. Meanwhile, there are just over 1,800 bottles of Barr an Uisce 1803 16 year old single malt, aged in bourbon casks, coming to the U.S. for $120 each.
