Does Coke Go With Whiskey
Its a hit with young drinkers because the taste of the whiskey gets diluted in ten ounces of cola. The other notes from the whiskey blend in with the Coke, but theyre still there. But the strongest flavor is definitely the cola. And that makes this a very enjoyable drink for anybody who likes the flavor of cola.
Foolproof Whisky And Campari Cocktail Recipes
September 11, 2019 | Jake Emen
With its bright red glow and booming bitterness theres no mistaking Campari, and it can be off-putting at first. Being Italian, I really like the bitter taste, says Angelo Sparvoli, bartender at The American Bar at The Savoy in London. In fact, we say bitter is better.
Camparis bitter quality delivers balance and complex flavors to a cocktail. Its very zesty, with pronounced orange on the nose and notes of citrus and vanilla, Sparvoli adds. Whisky has the necessary backbone to hold up to the bitterness of Campari, which in turn provides a counterpoint to a whiskys sweeter side.
That marriage of flavors can now be found in a single bottle. In September 2019, Campari unveiled Cask Tales, a new version of the classic aperitif finished in bourbon barrels. The extra whiskey touch makes it ideal for trying out in some of the cocktails below.
Campari is the sort of product that might be hard to enjoy neat, but when mixed it transforms the entire cocktail, suggests Sparvoli. It gives the right spicy and citrus notes and adds body and texture to the drinks.

The History Of The Whiskey Sour
The recipe for a Whiskey Sour first appeared in print in 1862, in a book called The Bartender’s Guide by Jerry Thomas. But according to some cocktail historians, sailors invented the Whiskey Sour!
In the past, sailors were given an allowance for spirits and citrus . Put them together add a little sugar, and you have a Whiskey Sour!
It’s also possible that the Whiskey Sour is just a scaled-down version of a punch, designed to serve just one. Punches predate cocktails by quite a while, but if you look at old punch recipes, you’ll notice the basic structure of a Whiskey Sour: base spirit, citrus, and sweetener.
However the Whiskey Sour came to be, when you drink one, you can be sure you’re part of a long and proud tradition!

Fall Flavors In This Sweet Potato Cocktail
Its possible to make sweet potato casserole without the marshmallow topping, but in a cocktail version, they are required. Not only do they sweeten the cocktail, but they also make it look gorgeous and textured with piles of tiny toasted marshmallows.
This sweet potato cocktail includes a dash of St Elizabeths Allspice Dram to add clove, cinnamon, and baking spice flavors to the drink. If you dont have allspice dram, add a dash of spiced or aged rum to the cocktail.
For the whiskey, I chose bourbon because I put bourbon in my sweet potatoes and in my Thanksgiving cocktails. I use a mid proof bourbon Elijah Craig Small Batch or Jim Beam Black to build up the baking spice notes and keep the cocktail from being overly sweet.
For garnish I added the toasted marshmallows and a skewer with a sweet potato wedge on it. Dusting the top with fresh grated nutmeg is another excellent garnish idea. If you would rather not pile the Thanksgiving cocktail high with marshmallows, a single large marshmallow, toasted and dusted with nutmeg is a perfect alternative.

Rye Whiskey And Apple Cider
Again, this is a simple drink that is just a bit different than your normal whiskey ginger. Its flavors capture the fall season in a glass. And I gotta say, it would be right at home in a flask if youre heading to a football game or just going for a hike in the woods to enjoy the autumn foliage.
Its a no frills drink. You can use regular apple juice, but apple cider can easily be found in local grocery stores. The crisp apple flavor and natural sugars will beat a bottle of Motts on any given Sunday.
Why use rye? Well, weve written about our love for rye whiskey cocktails before. But the bold rye whiskey flavors, like mint, spice, and black pepper, will add more depth to this drink and compliment the apple flavors better than other whiskies.

The History Of Whiskey
The word whiskey or whisky comes from the beautiful Gaelic language. Originally, the word for whiskey was uisce beatha meaning water of life. As someone whose long weeks have been revived many times by a nice whiskey cocktail , I can attest to this being true: whiskey is the source of life-giving golden water.
But whats up with the double spelling? Its said that the spelling whisky is of Scottish descent, whereas the spelling whiskey is Irish. While technically whisky is the correct spelling, I personally prefer the added e. To placate both groups, Ill be using both spellings throughout the article interchangeably, because I adhere to the idea that variation is the spice of life
Originally meant as some form of medicine it was monks who first brought their distilling techniques to Ireland and Scotland. These fine lads used barley beer and began to distill it, which transformed into our modern conceptions of whiskey. From monastery owned productions to today whisky sure has come a long way.
Nowadays whiskey comes in all different forms from Irish whiskey to bourbon to that classic Tennessee whiskey weve grown to associate with folks who rock these types of tattoos. I love it on the rocks, mixed into a whisky cocktail, or taken as a shot when my throat needs a little coating. Whatever way youre drinking them, a few whiskey cocktails can go a long way.

Cinnamon Maple Whiskey Sour
When presented with a cocktail menu, I just cant help but order a whiskey drink. An Old Fashioned, Manhattan, a well-made whiskey sour or any spin on the above. Im a whiskey girl. Always have been, always will be.
Naturally, when I spied the cinnamon maple sour on the menu at a local bar the other day, I had to order it. I liked it so much that I had to recreate it at home.
This whiskey sour recipe is sweetened with maple syrup, which tastes so much more interesting than basic simple syrup. The recipe includes plenty of fresh lemon juice and a hefty pinch of ground cinnamon, which offers some warming flavor for cold winter days. You can skip the cinnamon, though, if you would like a classic whiskey sour.

Peanut Butter In A Sour
The Sour Skrew This recipe I wanted to try mostly out of curiosity. Also, it looked pretty. The whiskey sour is yet another cocktail that was properly introduced to me by Michael. Apparently the egg white foam is what makes the drink! Who knew?
I had to do some research on what actually happens when you shake the egg white. Many wonder if it is safe to consume. Egg white is an ingredient in more items than you would realize. One article I enjoyed reminds us that hygiene is very important when using raw egg white as an ingredient. I’ll add the link below.
This cocktail tasted like a tootsie pop in a glass! If you grew up eating tootsie pops this sour will take you back. I thoroughly enjoyed every last sip! I let Michael have a taste, just to confirm it did indeed taste like a tootsie pop.

Put Down That Jack & Coke

Jack Daniels Tennessee Whisky is a really interesting product.
First of all, its made in the oldest registered distillery in the United States. Another feature totally unique to Jack Daniels is that individual batches are not dated. Instead, master tasters at the distillery test each batch and barrel of whisky to determine its quality.
Although it follows all of the rules required to be classified as a Bourbon, there is an extra step included, which makes Jack Daniels not a bourbon, but a Tennessee Whisky. That final process is to filter the whiskey through maple charcoal before bottling.
Strangely enough, Jack Daniels is actually made in a dry county yep, its totally illegal to sell alcohol there. The Distillery gets around this crazy law by selling bottles of whiskey for decorative purposes. Ironically, the Jack Daniels Whiskey Distillery is the primary source of revenue for Moores County, and the distillery actually employs 371 people six more than Lynchburgs entire population of only 365 people. Nevertheless, the location of the distillery has certainly not affected the drinks popularity, with it being a household name around the world.
However, it has to be said that one of the most interesting things about Jack Daniels Tennessee Whiskey is the fact that it blends well with a huge variety of flavors, making it the perfect addition to almost any cocktail.
