Casamigos Tequila Prices List
Much like every tequila producer, Casamigos gets its blue weber agave piñas from the red clay soil and relatively cool climate of Jalisco .
However, Casamigos boasts of a brick oven 72-hour slow roasting of the piñas and an 80-hour fermentation process all considered longer than the normal times needed for the aforementioned methods. Casamigos piña roasting is 10 times the average required, and the fermentation is twice as long. The company also claims that they use traditional pot stills and naturally filtered water so that the flavor profile is not changed.
Casamigos also boasts of its processes used to make its mezcal variant. Launched in early 2018 as its first mezcal, Casamigos Mezcal has purely Espadin agave from Oaxaca .
The agave is then split, then placed in earthen holes lined with oak wood-fire-heated volcanic rocks for four to six days. Once cooked, the fruits are then crushed to pulps by a stone wheel. After then, the pulp or aguamiel is fermented for two to eight days.
The spirit is also distilled twice and bathed in mountain spring water wells after 30 days. Also, the bottles have a distinct matte-black exterior finish and handcrafted for instant recognition.
At present, the Casamigos lineup has four drinks a blanco, a reposado, an añejo, and the aforementioned mezcal.
Newcomers to the Casamigos brand should start with the Blanco version.
Best Canned Tequila Cocktail
With the ever-popular spiked seltzer market constantly expanding, there are more tequila-based seltzers than ever available in the fridge at the liquor store. It’s hard to pick one because they’re all so different and some are better than others. Onda is a spiked seltzer that is worth a shout-out. Onda was founded in 2020 by Hollywood fixture Shay Mitchell alongside co-creators Kelli Adams, Noah Gray, and Max Dworin. The name means “wave” in Spanish, which is fitting for a brand soaking in beach vibes.
Onda is great because there are so many flavors available and they are all tasty. Each can only has 100 calories, 1 gram of carbs or less, and contains 5% ABV. The options for the tequila soda-inspired drink include mango, passionfruit, pineapple, strawberry, lime, blood orange, grapefruit, and watermelon. They’re all solid, but blood orange, grapefruit, and lime are particular stand-outs.
A four-pack of Onda Blood Orange is available for $12 via Drizly as of June 2022.
Does Casamigos Aejo Use Additives
I am not sure if additives where used to craft Casamigos Añejo as that is information the distiller has to release, but if I had to bet I would say that there is a bit of vanilla artificial flavoring.
The rules that govern tequila allow the use of additives as a means to avoid variations in flavor, aroma and color from batch to batch as long as the additives do not surpass 1% of the total content. The use of additives is widespread among the industry, although some distillers such as Patron or Fortaleza refrain from this questionable practice.
Tequila is not the only spirit using additives, the rules that govern the production of Scotch whisky allow the use of caramel coloring to make the liquor more appealing.
This is the reason why Im mostly drinking true artisanal mezcal nowadays as everything is perfectly legit.

What Tequila Is Best Blanco Or Yellow
Its important to note that tequila has a designation of origin , that is if the Tequila doesnt come from Jalisco, Nayarit, Guanajuato, Tamaulipas or Michoacán, its not Tequila. Something similar to what happens with Cognac and its confusion with Brandy.
The correct answer is just what you prefer.
Best $15 Or Less Tequila
Believe it or not, there are plenty of tequilas worth trying that you can snag for $15 or less, especially if you find a deal. If you’re looking for something under $15 to stock your bar or to make a big batch of cocktails, Olmeca Altos Plata is the way to go. It’s a citrusy spirit that’s a margarita must, and not just because of the price tag. One review on the brand’s website from a self-proclaimed tequila expert sings its praises. “This is the tequila I buy 75% of the time because it’s not just affordable, it competes with tequila’s twice the price,” the review reads.
Olmeca Altos Plata is one of those overlooked options that will quickly become your easy go-to. One hundred percent agave, unrivaled smoothness, and an affordable price what else do you need to convince yourself to grab a bottle? “Quite simply for me the go-to tequila, very good price excellent taste, perfect ice cold, shots and in cocktails,” a user review on Master of Malt reads.
Grab a bottle of Olmeca Altos Plata for $14.55 on Drizly as of June 2022.

There Are Three Varieties Of Casamigos Tequila For You To Try
Casamigos Tequila comes in different varieties, which are defined based on how long the tequila is left to age. The youngest, the Casamigos Tequila blanco, rests for just two months, so it is crisp and clean, with flavours of citrus, vanilla, and sweet agave. The finish is long and smooth. The next youngest variety is the Casamigos Tequila reposado, which is aged for seven months in American white oak barrels. It is soft and smooth, with flavours of oak, caramel, and cocoa. The finish is silky and medium to long. Finally, the variety which is aged the most is the Casamigos Tequila Añejo, which is aged for fourteen months in American white oak barrels. It has flavours of caramel and vanilla, with both sweetness and spice. The finish is lingering and smooth.

How To Drink Casamigos Aejo
- Casamigos is a nice sipper meant to be enjoyed neat. If you are fond of chilled drinks serve it rocks but use large ice cubes avoiding dilution as you do not want to water-down your tequila.
- As opposed to bourbon, rye whiskey or Scotch that get better when adding a drop of water, Tequila does not get better.
- I would not use Casamigos Añejo as a mixer as it is a bit pricy for such affairs. As a general rule I dont spend more than $30 in a mixer as most spirits taste pretty much the same when drowned in fruity juices or soda. I recommend using a more affordable and punchy Reposado to make cocktails.

What Does Tequila Taste Like
By now, I hope that we all know what is tequila. In order to answer what tequila tastes like properly, we have to break it down into the three main variations of tequila: Blanco, Reposado, and Añejo.
Blanco tequila, which tends to be harder to find in supermarkets, is the most intense. We recommend you buy tequila online for Blanco as you want a top-quality product here. Blanco tequila has a peppery bite, essentially quite spicy initially. There are many variations, but generally, there is the presence of stone fruits in the aftertaste.
The further we go from here, the more refined and sweeter we get. Reposado is a prime example of this. Being aged in oak barrels for anywhere up to 3 years, reposado tequila is a smoother, deeper flavor.
Reposado tequila has a bit more of an aroma than the Blanco, being aged and stored for longer, this makes sense. To find the best reposado, you should order tequila online, as youll likely find some quite cheap products in supermarkets. Reposado is a sweeter, more rounded drink, with notes of honey and nectar in the finish.
Añejo is definitely a situation where youll have to buy tequila online. Most stores and supermarkets dont store it, and specialty stores will often mark up the price.
Is Tequila Stronger Than Whiskey
Tequila and whiskey are around the same strength. Whiskey has the ability to be a little bit stronger than tequila, however. Due to the stricter rules around tequila production, there is not a lot of room to fiddle with anything. This maintains the strength at about 80 proof.
Whiskey doesnt have as much regulation on its production and has a lot of artisanal, small-batch productions. This allows them to be more experimental, churning out more and more unique products.
To get an idea, there is a whiskey that is 180 proof! That is insanely high, it is basically pure alcohol at this point.

Best Anejo: Lunazul Anejo Tequila
Courtesy of Minibar
Its tough to find an anejo tequila on a budget. To be labeled anejo, a tequila has to be aged between one and three years in barrels, so expect a lot of time and investment to go into each bottle. This gives the liquid a more refined flavor similar to a sipping whiskey or Cognac.
Luckily, Lunazul offers a rare, wallet-friendly option in this category. The simple, elegant bottle is smooth and balanced, with pure agave flavors. The 100 percent agave tequila is made with agave plants aged over seven years, roasted, distilled, and then left to rest in reused bourbon barrels for between 12 and 18 months. The oak adds subtle smokey flavors and warm vanilla spices. Try it with a bit of agave syrup and Angostura bitters to make a spicy riff on an old-fashioned.
For a 100 percent agave tequila that works particularly well in cocktails, go for our top pick: El Jimador Silver . If you’re looking to rip shots, your best bet is Agavales Blanco .
Why Are Aged Tequilas More Expensive Than Unaged
It’s a two-part answer: the time and the barrels. Oak barrels cost money , and the investment in quality cooperage is reflected in the price of your reposado or añejo. And then there’s the time: a reposado must age for a minimum of 60 days, and an añejo must age for at least a year. Between the income lost during the waiting period and the actual spirit lost to evaporation, tequila will inevitably get more expensive the older it getsa characteristic it shares with nearly every other aged spirit.

Mixto Tequila Verses 100% Agave Tequila
A tequila can be organized into two categories, mixto tequilas and 100% agave tequilas.
Mixto tequilas are made with no less than 51% agave, with the other 49% usually being fermented sugar cane juice. The result is a tequila thats very sweet in both smell and taste. However, the flavor usually stops there.
These mixto tequilas are often harsh in flavor, burn on the way down, and thus are inferior to other tequilas. Golden-colored mixtos are called joven or oro tequilas and have oak flavoring and coloring added. The reason these are made in the first place is because theyre affordable to make for producers and, frankly, they sell well in stores due to their low price point.
Mixtos arent ideal and I generally dont recommend buying them. But if youre planning a big party with a tequila-based punch that has a lot of juices and flavors to help mask the mixto, then a mixto is a practical option.
If a tequila is labeled as 100% agave, this means that the tequila in question was made with only blue agave. Generally, its recommended by most bartenders and tequila enthusiasts that you only buy tequilas which clearly state this on the label, as it will guarantee you a much better product that has a more complex flavor and significantly less burn.

Does Casamigos Aejo Expire Does It Go Bad
Casamigos Añejo wont expire and can remain in the bottle for decades as long as you store it in a cool place away from the sunlight. The tricky part is that once opened it remains good but once you have 25% of the content left I suggest you finish it ASAP as it develops an awkward taste. I have no scientific explanation for this but I have lost some nice drams for not adhering to this simple rule.

Exotico Blanco 100% Agave Tequila
I was surprised to find how herbaceous the scent of this tequila is and just how robust of an agave taste it holds. The flavor is simple and uncomplicated but retains the hot pepper finish that the brand is known for.
I would rank this one somewhere in the middle of the list. I quite enjoy it its smooth and spicy but a bit simple for my tastes.

What Is The Difference Between Tequila And Mezcal
Essentially Tequila is a type of , produced from specified appellation zones in several Mexican states, but focused on , where the town of Tequila is located. Mezcal is made in nine states.
Tequila is only produced from the Weber blue agave. It is typically made by steaming agave in industrial ovens before double or treble distillation in copper pots. For Mezcal any of around 50 species of agave may be used. This is cooked in earthen pits and distilled in clay pots.
Mezcal usually has a more robust taste. Worms only ever appear in Mezcal bottles.
