Caipiroska: GREY GOOSE Vodka Cocktail

Suffice it to say that vodka is the most versatile spirit on your shelf. It has the flexibility to be the star of the show or works in harmony as a supporting player when infused with spices or fruit, or used alongside other spirits and liqueurs.

The brand was launched by renowned American businessman Sidney Frank. Thanks to cellar master François Thibault, both a distiller and native of Cognac who created the liquid, Franks dreams became a reality as he took his wealth of experience and crafted a beautiful spirit that has been a top-shelf choice for over two decades. As the French say, voilà.

The secret to why GREY GOOSE is so delicious and of such high quality isnt really a secret. Its distilled in France using just two ingredients: water from Gensac-la-Pallue in southwestern France and single-origin wheat from Picardy in the north. Thats it. No record number of distillations, no marketing gimmickry.

You can absolutely enjoy GREY GOOSE on its own, but were talking Martini Cocktails here: the tuxedo of cocktails. So lets change out of those sweatpants and make some delicious drinks that are just the thing to add to the long winter months.

Potato Vodka Vs Grain Vodka: Whats The Difference

Vodka is a very popular spirit worldwide. The main ingredient of it is either from potato or grain hence why theres potato vodka and grain vodka. Although both variants are types of Vodka, they have several differences, especially in their taste.

Grain vodkas are excellent choices for cocktail drinks because it does not contain a distinctive taste. This means that it can blend well with other liquors and create a whole new flavor for your cocktail. Some of the popular examples of grain vodka are Ketel One, Stolichnaya, Smirnoff, and Grey Goose.

Kirkland Signature Blended Canadian Whisky

The internets opinion: Goldfarb notes that its believed that Kirklands Canadian whisky comes from Crown Royal. We might never be able to confirm who manufactures the booze for sure, but the purple label sure makes it seem like Costco is inviting comparisons to the popular Canadian whiskey. One downside: the Kirkland bottle doesnt get you one of those sweet purple velvet bags associated with Crown. But with the money you save by buying Kirkland you can color in a brown paper bag with purple marker, you creative DIYer, you!

The experts opinion: While Jensen says this this has a little more spice than in a Crown Royal, overall its thin, dry, and high pitched. He admits hes not a huge fan of Canadian whiskeys on the whole, but his guess is that its produced by Crown Royal. Overall, he notes that for a 6-year-old product, its probably a much better deal than anything else youre going to buy in a Canadian whiskey. He bets that if you enjoy mixing Canadian whiskey with Coke or 7Up, youll be quite happy with this bottle.

Grey Goose didnt even crack the top 10 and was said to be unbalanced and overly sweet.

  • Grey Goose And Absolut Ingredient

Nowadays, vodka can be made from virtually any starch or sugar-rich plant but most of them are made from grains like wheat, corn, rye, and sorghum including Grey Goose and Absolut that are made from wheat, more specifically winter wheat. Whats different is where these wheat are sourced from because we all know that manufacturers tend to reserve their origin and this is why these brands are not using ingredients that come from just anywhere. For example Grey Goose is using the winter wheat from Picardi, French.

This winter wheat is growing in October and then harvested in August, almost a year later which is why it takes more additional months of growth in comparison to summer wheat. The wheat is said to be soft or also called superior bread-making wheat. On the other hand, while similarly using winter wheat, Absolut uses those grown in Skane, Sweden that are planted in September and harvested in August. More specifically, the winter wheat being used comes from the southernmost part of Sweden.

This is because the wheat that are growing on the northern part of the region is said to be best or making bread because it is high in protein and gluten, as well as heavy while the wheat used for Absolut making is lower in protein but is high in starch thus, ideal for creating alcohol or turned into fermentable sugars.
