Tequilas can boast aromas of honey, pepper, and caramel as well as flavors that range from spice and wood to earth and vanilla. These different flavors come out in a variety of expressions, of which there are five .

Arriving on a new continent, they saw an interesting custom of the Indians to drink during the holidays low-alcohol juice of the agave. This “drink of the gods” was called pulque. Spanish conquistadors – lovers of stronger distillates, overtook a local drink, which is why the mescal appeared. Carefully cleared to transparency, tears, it turned into tequila. And if the mezcal appeared already around 1535, then with the last drink there were long metamorphoses. Being purified, it had different names. Mostly it was “agave wine” or brandy-mescal. Its current name is Tequila received from the town of Tequila, which is located in the Mexican state of Jalisco, to the west of Guadalajara. The beautiful story and unique process behind this tequila really help it shine, says Chasse. The family that makes Tequila Ocho Plata has been distilling for generations. They use traditional brick ovens to slow-roast extremely ripe agave, which is chosen from specific fields each year, so that the nuances of the terroir and;weather come out, especially in the blanco.

It changes depending on the field and year, says Chasse, but in general, it offers crisp, clean peppery notes, bright citrus and grassy flavors, along with the fruitiness of the extra-ripe agave. The finish also offers a nice balance between floral and earthy notes.;

Good to Know: How should you drink a sipping tequila? Hurley and Chasse suggest trying it neat in a tequila glass . Add a few drops of water to open up the flavor. Best Aejo: Don Julio Aejo

Region: Jalisco | ABV: 40% | Tasting Notes: Caramel, Baked yam, Ginger

Don Julio, Chasse notes, takes care of its raw materials. When the producers were planting their fields, they used much more land than other producers and spaced the agave out so as not to overtax the soil and sap it of its nutrients. Thats important when the plants take so long to come to maturity, and it leads to some lively flavors in the spirit.

Hurley notes the baked yam, toasted oak, caramel and vanilla notes that two and a half years of wood aging give this añejo. But its round, sweet qualities are balanced out, says Chasse, by a gingery, peppery spice.;

Good to Know: Want to nibble while you sip? Try fatty things with a crisp blanco, like guacamole and chips, a grilled steak and carnitas tacos. For aged tequilas, Hurley advises dark chocolate. And any sipping tequila goes great with spicy or salty foods, chased by a Mexican lagerjust the way the distillers like to drink it themselves.

Best Blanco: Don Fulano Blanco

Region: Jalisco | ABV: 40% | Tasting Notes: Lemon peel, Lemongrass, Cooked agave

“Theres a saying: ‘Whiskey is aged in wood, and tequila is aged in the ground,'” says Hurley. Thats so true because agave takes six to eight years to mature, so you can detect the influence of the terroirthe soil, sun and shade of mountainsespecially in a blanco. He calls this one from the Altos region phenomenal.

Produced by Jaliscos famed Fonseca family using deep well water, Don Fulano Blanco offers “green cooked agave notes, a little bit of pepper and minerality, and hints of lemon peel and lemongrass, Hurley says. Along with those complex layers of flavor, Hurley likes its mouthfeel. It has a nice body all the way through, so its one of the easiest drinking tequilas out there,” he adds.

Blancos showcase the terroir and the agave, but they also show any imperfections. Look for spirits with a medium to full body, a bit of attitude, minerality and brightnessand not much ethanol burn. You can tell an impure spirit if you get that. Morgan Hurley, Marketing and Beverage Director, Mex 1 Coastal Cantina

Queen Of The South Season 5 Episode 9 Review: A Prueba De Balas

Where to even begin?;Queen of the South Season 5 Episode 9;was packed full of action and character moments. The hour flew by, and I’m still catching my breath.;

That Oksana had a daughter who helps reveal Kostya’s identity should feel like a contrived plot device, yet it doesn’t.;

Teresa hid Tony for years, and when she brought him into the light, he was blown up by a car bomb meant for her. It makes sense that Oksana would hide her daughter to keep her safe.

Plus, Amara is now considered family by Teresa, James, and Pote. Oksana lost her life because she was Teresa’s ally; they won’t forget that. Including Amara in this group makes me wish we had another season to see how that dynamic plays out.;

Alas, we only have one more episode.;

Despite now having Kostya’s identity, Devon still wants Teresa to kill him, and why not? If she fails or gets caught, they get to blame a drug cartel for the murder of a Russian official and keep the CIA’s hands clean.;

If she succeeds, she becomes one of their most powerful and valuable assets.;

With Kostya getting his cocaine shipments from Boaz, he has no reason to deal with Teresa at all.

And let’s talk about Boaz’s new method of distribution for a moment. Yes, putting the liquid cocaine into IV bags and shipping it as medical supplies is brilliant in that it’s far easier to ship it undetected, but if one bag is somehow misplaced or set aside for medical use, the consequences will be disastrous.;

Thankfully, Pote came to Teresa’s rescue.;

Rapido Mexican Ruff And Other

Inventive club youth came up with a lotways of what you can drink tequila. For example, to scrape out the flesh of lime, and from the skin to do something like cups. They are powdered with salt and pour tequila. After that, the glasses are eaten. The Spanish way was called Rapido or “tequila boom.” In a glass with distillate add a tonic in a ratio of one to one. Cover the glass with your palm and sharply hit the table. There is a “boom” – the tonic begins to hiss and foam. Naturally, you will need a glass with a thick bottom, otherwise the drink will be on your clothes, and your fingers – in the blood from the broken glass. Another way – especially for those who adhere to the worldly principle: “Vodka without beer – in vain spent money.” It is called the Mexican Ruff. Tequila is poured with Corona Extra brand beer in a 1:10 ratio. But Tequila con gusano indicates a low quality of distillate.
