Drinks these days are too complicated and often overdone. We’re here to change that, and make it easy for anyone to craft a 5-star cocktail in the comfort of their own home.

Without further ado, here is our list of the 27 best drinks with gin you’ll ever make!

What Mixes Well With Gin Is There A Perfect Gin Mixer

The first rule of drinking good gin is to use a good mixer. You can easily ruin an excellent gin by adding a sub-par mixer.

Tonic: The classic mixer

The classic mixer for gin is tonic – a drink developed by the administrators of the British Empire who drank tonic water for its anti-malarial quinine but who found it a little bitter.

They added gin and – hey presto – one of the most famous and enduring cocktails in history was born.

So tonic is the go-to mixer. If youre drinking a premium gin like York Gin, make sure you choose a premium tonic. There are some fabulous premium tonics on the market. Invest some time and effort into finding your favourite.

So-da so good

Tonic is far from the only mixer for gin.

Often, people who say they dont like gin actually dont like the taste of the tonic in a G& T.

An alternative mixer for a fizzy long gin drink is soda.

It has all the bubbles but none of the quinine that some people can find too bitter. We think gin and soda has a long and successful future ahead.

Other mixers

Lime cordial: This creates a classic Gimlet cocktail. Add Rose’s lime cordial to gin and ice for a very dry drink!

Lemonade: A sweeter alternative to tonic. Lots of people love this in the newer fruit gins that have appeared in recent years. Its great in York Gin Roman Fruit.

And finally: Try your own – some people like ginger ale or ginger beer, other fruit juices or cordials or even Coke!

Best Drinks To Mix With Gin

What would you use to mix with this gin? : Gin

While there are plenty of liquors you can pick up knowing they’re super versatile and likely to work with almost anything that’s in the fridge and yes, we’re looking at you, vodka gin generally isn’t one of those. There’s a gin and tonic, and … what else?

Admittedly, gin can be tough. It has a distinctive flavor profile that can be described as anything from “botanical” to “Christmas tree,” and everything in between those two. Gin, says MasterClass, is defined in part by the use of juniper berries in the distillation process, and it’s those berries that give this popular liquor that pine-tree, evergreen taste.

For those who might skip the gin because they’re not fans of a gin and tonic, we have good news: There are a ton of other drinks you can use as a base for some truly incredible gin cocktails. Some probably have a permanent spot in the fridge already, and if some are the sort of thing you pick up on occasion, let’s be honest: These ideas are reason enough to spring for that nice bottle of gin.

When gin, and not equine toiletries, won out in Tanquerays heart, he dedicated himself wholly to improving what passed for gin at the time, taking on industry leaders Felix Booth and Alexander Gordon . While developing what would become his flagship recipe, Tanqueray stumbled upon his preferred method for distilling botanicals into a small quantity of neutral grain spirit before distilling the larger batch for the final time. Ratio Of Gin To Tonic

My preferred ratio is 1:3, or 2 ounces of gin to 5-6 ounces of tonic water. Brands like Fever-Tree typically come in 6 oz bottles and I find this to be the perfect amount. Some prefer a bit less tonic water with a ratio of 1:2. This makes for a stronger cocktail and its a bit less balanced in my opinion.

It Is The Question On The Tip Of Every Tongue What Do You Mix With Your Pink Gin

Everything you need to know about Gin | How to Drink

Just when you thought gin could not get any more popular, along came the pink variety. We launched our raspberry-infused Rubus Patch gin last year, and since then interest in these fruity variations of gin has gone through the roof. But if a bottle of beautiful Pink Gin landed in your liquor cabinet today, would you know which mixers and garnishes to employ to flatter those luscious fruity notes? This task is not as simple as many would think, and to find out why this is, we need to go back the very beginning of the Pink Gin story.

Mix with careServing up a pink gin should be a simple task. After all, tonic has been paired with gin ever since the British introduced the quinine based drink to its overseas troops in a bid to fend off malaria. And because pink gin must stay so true to the botanical makeup of the traditional variety, it stands to reason it should pair just as well with tonic as its non-pink brethren. While we have no particular objection to that famous trio of tonic, lemon and ice, we do fear that this combination might wash away those subtle raspberry notes. Fortunately, with a vast army of quality tonics storming bottle shops nationwide, the pink gin enthusiast is spoiled for choice, as long as they are keen to experiment a little.

  • Can I Make Tonic Water At Home

Many types of soda are fun to make at home. However, tonic water is one that should always be purchased from a reputable manufacturer. Due to the serious side effects of cinchonism, it can be harmful to make your own tonic syrup from cinchona bark because it is impossible to control the amount of quinine. It is generally safe to purchase a premade tonic syrup if you follow the company’s recommended dilution to make tonic water. As an alternative, you can make quinine-free tonic syrup at home.

    Gin And Tonic Glassware Options

Glassware for a G& T is all about personal preference. A classic presentation is in a tall Collins glass, or a stout double rocks glass. More modern options are a large balloon glass or perhaps a stemless wine glass.

Theres no right or wrong here, but different glass shapes will affect the drinking experience. A rounded, balloon glass will funnel the aromatics of the gin to your nose, which can make for a more flavorful drink. Large balloon glasses are also excellent for garnishing with a variety of botanicals to further emphasize the flavors and aromas of the gin.

A tall and narrow highball glass will preserve more of the carbonation, keeping your drink more effervescent for longer. Try a couple of different glasses with your favorite gin and see which works best for you.

    Champage / Sparkling Wine

    Hawthorn

Not sure what to do with the champagne that’s left over from a celebratory dinner? Have some sparkling wine from the holidays taking up valuable kitchen space? There’s a solution waiting to be made turn them into an amazing French 75. And here’s the good news: A French 75 is a perfect sort of introductory gin drink.

You can make a French 75 with just a shot of gin, half as much lemon juice, and a dash of simple syrup. Shake with ice, strain into a glass, then top with your champagne or sparkling wine. It’s cold, it’s fizzy, and it’s got a kick of sourness that allows the gin to seep through without being overpowering. Love the basics? Mix it up! Pour heavy on the gin if you want more of the botanicals, dress up the French 75 up with a berry liqueur, or add a botanical garnish.

Tips For Choosing A New Gin Mixer

Whichever mixer you choose, it is always best to make sure that you serve the drink ice cold. At room temperature, many of the mixers and the flavours they possess will lack impact and could be actively off-putting, whereas the difference made by being a few degrees chillier will be tangible.

Another thing to keep in mind is that different gins work well with different mixers, as touched upon briefly above. If a gin has been carefully crafted with a bevy of exotic botanicals, choosing a less domineering mixer is ultimately the right choice. If a gin is more basic, you can stretch yourself and test the waters with more outlandish mixers without putting anything on the line.

As youll see, there are a variety of different styles to choose from. Some mixers have powerful flavours that mostly hide the subtleties of the gin that youre using. Other mixers have more nuanced flavours, giving you the chance to experience more of the gin.

For that matter, using expensive gin or craft gin with a strong mixer is just a waste, as the nuances of the gin will be lost. If the gin is expensive or complex, try a mild mixer.

Dont forget that you can also utilise ingredients like honey, jam and marmalade in your cocktail recipes, adding another layer of expertise to your drinks.
