What Kind Of Whiskey Should I Use For This Cocktail
Use any whiskey you like here!
We tend to reach for Elijah Craig Small Batch Bourbon for most of our whiskey cocktails: its well balanced, not too expensive, and goes well with just about anything. If you like spicier, more booze-forward cocktails, you can use a stronger, spicier rye whiskey You could also opt for an Irish whiskey here our best advice is just to use a whiskey that you know you like!
If youre not a whiskey fan, this cocktail is also great with gin or vodka!

How Strong Is The Lynchburg Lemonade
The Lynchburg Lemonade is a relatively mild drink. On average, its alcohol content is around 8 percent ABV , which is a little lighter than a glass of wine. However, this drink has been known to get people drunker than they expected. Other than drinking too many, the problem often comes from overpouring the whiskey. To keep the drink under control, maintain a balance of flavor, and to help prevent a hangover, stick to the standard 1 1/2-ounce shot.

It Almost Tastes Like A Makeshift Whiskey Sour
This Whiskey Lemonade is pretty darn close to a Whiskey Sour! So close, in fact, that you can grab purchased lemonade if you cant find sour mix. We love the idea of using lemonade instead of purchased sour mix, which can be syrupy sweet. Of course, the true antidote to that is our Whiskey Sour Mixbut we digress.

Vary The Lemonade Ratio To Make Different Drinks
We tried this Whiskey Lemonade with two different lemonade ratios, and we liked them both! Essentially, you can make two different drinks with the same two ingredients. Heres the basic idea:
- 2:1 ratio: Use 4 ounces lemonade to 2 ounces whiskey for a more boozy flavor. This version tastes a bit more like a lowball cocktail.
- 3:1 ratio: Use 6 ounces lemonade to 2 whiskey for a more balanced lemonade flavor. This one is easier for sipping and tastes a little more summery.

How To Make The Whiskey Lemonade
When your ready to serve your whiskey lemonade cocktails, just get out your highball glasses and fill them with ice. Measure out 2 oz of whiskey and pour it in. Of course, if you want to make it a single, only pour in 1 oz. But honestly, why would you want that?
Then fill the rest of your glass with lemonade and garnish with a sprig of mint and a slice of lemon or a twist of the lemon rind. I love how these look with a sprig of mint especially! They just look so refreshing!

Honey and whiskey have always made an exceptional pair. The sweet taste of honey blends beautifully with the cozy warmth of whiskey. However, the advent of honey whiskey, all in one bottle no need to mix, is fairly new. These days you can find ample varieties of honey whiskey readily available and each one carries its own unique flavor.
Honey whiskey tends to be sweet and can be enjoyed neat or over ice without the addition of any mixers. But dont stop there, this blend does make for a great cocktail base! Try it blended with iced tea or give todays simple recipe a try, honey whiskey lemonade.
This cocktail has its roots in a traditional whiskey sour. A cocktail made with whiskey, a sour component like lemon juice and sweet taste brought in with sugar or simple syrup. Blending a warm liquor like whiskey with citrus and a bit of sweet creates a delicious cocktail. The key is getting the ratio of whiskey and lemon correct so the flavors compliment each other and one does not overpower the other.

How To Make Homemade Lemonade With Honey
Its really easy! Squeeze the juice from some lemons and add it to a pitcher. You need 1 cup of lemon juice which is about 4 5 lemons.
We LOVE this handy little tool for squeezing lemons and limes. It squeezes the juice out well, but also catches the seeds for you. You can also use a wooden squeezer or one of those hand press juicers. You can also squeeze them by hand, but these tools make the job much easier. We also love these weck juice jars as pitchers!
Back to the homemade lemonade!
To the pitcher with your fresh lemon juice, you add 1/2 a cup of honey and mix well. You can also use sugar if you dont have honey, but we love the flavor that the honey gives our homemade lemonade.
Tip: if your honey is cold or its not liquid at all, microwave it for 30 seconds or so and then add it to your lemon juice. You can also heat your honey up in a double boiler over simmering water. It will mix easier if it is warm.
Then add your water and some lemon slices to make it look pretty. Store this in the fridge till you are ready to use it. It will be good for a few days so you can make this days before your serving it.
How To Choose A Honey Whiskey
With so many varieties on the market, how do you choose just one? If you are a fan of whiskey a particular whiskey, start with your go to brand. Many whiskey brands have their own honey version. Jack Daniels, Jim Beam, Wild Turkey, Black Eagle and more. They all have subtle differences just as their stand alone whiskeys do. After much taste testing I have settled on Jack Daniels Tennessee Honey to keep stocked in my bar. It has just the right amount of sweet and makes an excellent base for so many cocktails. Jack Daniels combine their signature whiskey with a honey liqueur that is brewed with real honey. The result is a smooth taste that is sweet without overpowering the whiskey.
Once you have a honey whiskey of your choice youll just need some lemonade. The simplicity of this cocktail makes it easy to make and enjoy at home. I prefer a brand of lemonade with pulp and lots of tangy citrus flavor. Stay away from overly sweet concentrate mixtures or this cocktail will not turn out well.
