How To Make Frosé With Vodka

Does Most Frose Use Vodka

How to Make the Frosé

In short: no. Recipes dont usually add vodka by default, but I can promise from personal experience that vodka goes amazingly well in pretty much any frose recipe.

There are really only two rules when making frose, though: 1. it has to be frozen and 2. it has to use rosé. Adding anything extra in, like vodka, is totally preference-based! It just happens to very much be my personal preference.

Also, confession time: I got up in the middle of writing this to make the second recipe on this list because I had all of the ingredients and you know field research. Suffice it to say, it does not disappoint and has my seal of approval ?

Rosé is the quintessential summer wine at my house.

Juicy peaches are one of my favorite summer fruits.

Theres A Reason Fros Is Still One Of Our Favorite Summer Drinks

Elizabeth Van Lierde, whose self-proclaimed laid-back Californian vibe we love, concocted a decidedly elegant riff on frosé: watermelon frosé. Its as delicious as it is gorgeous, with the super-sweet melon balanced against a lemony backbone. The recipe is below, but you should know about Elizabeth and her blog, The College Housewife, too.

Though she hasnt been in college for a few years now, Elizabeth jokingly coinedThe College Housewife when she started blogging, cooking and sharing her work online while a junior in a Colorado college. Her goal? Getting friends her age to cook and entertain more at home. It was a passion of hers, and she happily promotes taking time every week to connect with friends. In our modern world where we spend 45/60 minutes of every hour staring at one screen or another, we need a healthy break, she writes. We need that few hours a week with good company, good food and even better drinks.

How To Make Fros

This recipe its so easy to make, its perfect for all of your summer parties. I love posting recipes like this because people always tag their girlfriends on social media and make plans. It makes my heart happy.

  • Or freezer overnight and then reblend to get back to that slushy consistency.

Frosé aka Frozen Strawberry Rosé Slushie ... the perfect ...

To put our spin on frozen rose, we wanted a healthier frose recipe thats pretty simple to make and tastes just like rosé wine! Here are a few features that we think makes it the best:

    • Its sweetened just enough with no refined sugar. Many frose recipes can be overly sweet. Here weve used honey to make a naturally sweet frose recipe. You can also use maple syrup or agave syrup for vegan.
    • Its got a splash of wine when serving. The secret to this frose recipe: add a splash of room temperature rose when serving! This makes it just sweet enough, since freezing the wine dulls the sweetness. It also brings in a nice slushy texture.

What Kind Of Ros Should I Use To Make A Fros

Your frosé will be as good as the rosé you use for the base. You should use the same rosé that you would also drink pure. Whether thats dry or sweet is totally up to you!

If you like it sweeter, you can always add a bit more simple syrup, or sweetener to the blender as well. You can also use white wine if you dont have rosé on hand and make a White Wine Slushie Or if you prefer white wine to the taste of rosé go for it.

    What Is Fros Anyway

If you’re sitting here wondering what I’m talking about, frosé is frozen rosé wine that’s usually blended with fruit and sometimes sugar and other liquor. In this case, watermelon and vodka. It’s easily become one of the trendiest drinks around.

While the frosé I had at the bar was thick and super sweet, this homemade version is lighter with a bit less sugar. I loved the bar version but I found it almost too sweet and I couldn’t finish the whole thing. This version of frosé is absolutely perfect for party or girls night and will keep you cool all summer long.

Expert Tips For Making This Fros Recipe

I usually make this recipe with frozen peaches, but you can also make it with fresh peaches. If you make frosé with fresh fruit, I suggest peeling the peaches first. Also keep in mind that ripe, in-season fruit is typically sweeter than frozen fruit, so you might want to start with only adding half of the marjoram-infused simple syrup. Taste and add more if necessary.

If you use fresh fruit, you’ll also have to pop the blended mixture back in the freezer for a few hours to get more of a slushie consistency since you arent starting with hard, frozen fruit. Factor that extra prep time into your plans.

Unlike sparkling wine or a martini, there are no specific glasses you need for frosé. Use whatever glasses you have on hand, though I do suggest making straws or small spoons available to help slurp up the slushy Peach Frosé goodness.

The wine must be frozen for at least 6-8 hours before you add it to the other ingredients. This helps the drink achieve that semi-frozen consistency of a slushie.

Feel free to make the simple syrup a few days in advance, too. Just let it hang out the fridge until you need it.

You can also make a batch of this drink, pour it back into your resealable container and scoop out individual portions of it as needed. You might want to stir it around a bit in case it separated at all during the freezing process. It will last covered in the freezer for about a month.

The Best Frozen Drinks Made With Vodka

Vodka is a staple cocktail liquor and we have eight of the best vodka-based frozen drink recipes for summer right here. Have fun choosing one!

Vodka is an incredibly versatile liquor. Its one of my all-time favorite alcoholic beverage bases because it can add that special little something to any mixed drink, frozen or not, without overpowering the beverage with its own flavor.

The reason it can do that, simply put, is because vodka doesnt have a discernible flavor. Its flavorless, odorless and colorless, making it an ideal way to infuse alcohol into a frozen beverage without overpowering the fruit or other liquors that are mixing together.

When thinking about the versatility of vodka, we thought it was high time to assemble a dream team of frozen vodka-based beverages for you to enjoy at your next cocktail party.

How To Make The Best Frozen Rose Recipe

You are one blender and 5 minutes away from enjoying a refreshingly cold, wonderfully sweet adult drink. Follow these 3 simple steps to prepare the best frose in a flash:

First, set out a large high-power blender. Add the vodka and sugar. Cover and puree for 1 minute to dissolve the sugar.

Next add the frozen strawberries and rosé wine.

Cover and puree until smooth. Test the consistency. If needed, add 1-3 cups of ice to thicken the frosé. Puree again if needed.

PRO TIP: Depending on the power of your blender and the weather, sometimes the ice is unnecessary. When I make this in the summer, and the house is warm, I usually add about 2 cups of ice.

However, if I prepare it on a mild spring day I usually skip the ice, and the slushy is still perfectly chilled.

    Can I Use Different Fruit

    Frose

YES, you totally can! I tested a few different berries and they all worked beautifully.

Blackberries, raspberries and blueberries all pair wonderfully with rose, so feel free to use whichever berries you like!

I havent tried frozen peaches, but I have the feeling those would go well, too.

Add a splash of lemon juice or orange juice. Watermelon? Pear? They all sound amazing to me! Do some experimenting. Customize it how you like.

    But Does It Need Sweetener

If you DO want your drink sweeter theres a healthier way to sweeten without sugar: monk fruit!

My favorite thing for sweetening drinks is these monk fruit drops .

I buy monk fruit drops at Thrive Market because there often much cheaper there

Theyre also on Amazon. You can check them out here.

If you dont have monk fruit drops, alternative sweeteners are:

    • 1/2 to 1 tsp granulated or powdered monk fruit
    • a tiny pinch of pure stevia extract
    • 1/2 tsp light colored honey or pure maple syrup

*Always taste and adjust to your desired sweetness

How Can I Lower The Carbs

This recipe is already lower carb than conventional recipes. But you can do a few things to to lower the carb count even more, if needed:

  • Be sure to use a dry rose wine, which has a lower amount of sugar in it.
  • Replace some of the strawberries with ice cubes. However, this will decrease the sweetness, so youll need to add some monk fruit drops.
  • Anything can be reduced in carbs by simply eating *less* of it. Reduce the serving size, reduce the carbs.

    How To Make Boozy Fros

    Cocktail Countdown: Frosé

One thing you need to do is plan ahead for these babies. The night before you want to enjoy Boozy Frosé, pour 1 bottle Rosé wine into a gallon Ziplock bag set inside a dish and freeze overnight. Because of the alcohol in the wine, it will not freeze solid. Also, look for a Rosé thats darker in color as wine tends to lose a little bit of flavor once frozen.

Next make the strawberry simple syrup. In a mason jar combine 1/2 cup each water and sugar then microwave until bubbling, 1-1/2 minutes. Stir until the sugar has dissolved then carefully add 1 cup chopped strawberries and refrigerate overnight. Strain through a fine mesh sieve, and voila strawberry simple syrup!

Time to drink! Add the frozen wine to a blender with 1/4 cup vodka plus 4 Tablespoons strawberry simple syrup Blend until smooth then taste and add more simple syrup if desired. Note: once the Frosé starts to melt the sweetness intensifies, plus the sweetness intensifies once youve had a drink, so add more syrup sparingly.

Pour into glasses, stick a straw inside, and get to sippin, my friend! I hope you love this fun and frosty frozen cocktail enjoy!
