You are going to LOVE how easy this recipe is! It makes a pitchers worth so it is perfect for entertaining.

This recipe starts with pineapple juice and orange that I poured into a pitcher.

I then stir in lime juice, both light and dark rum, and grenadine.

You can alter the amounts of juice and alcohol to suit your tastes and as mentioned above, coconut rum would make this punch especially tropical as would a splash of coconut water. This recipe is quite adaptable.

While you may not have heard of this drink, it’s one you won’t forget. Every time you make one, you get to say “Yaka Hula Dickey Dula,” and that alone is a reason to mix it up. The taste is pretty amazing, too. It’s a fascinating combination of rum and dry vermouth accented with pineapple. That’s a bit unusual, but the pairing works very well.

Between The Sheets Cocktail

Hurricane Rum Cocktail Recipe

One of the most well-known rum cocktail recipes is the Between the Sheets cocktail, probably because of its tongue-in-cheek name.

The origins of the Between the Sheets cocktail are unknown, but its a spinoff cocktail of the Sidecar, which was invented in Paris, France at Harrys New York Bar.

The Between the Sheets cocktail is made with Cognac, rum, fresh lemon juice, and orange liqueur such as Triple Sec or Cointreau.

Cointreau has a wonderful orange perfume flavor that balances well between sweet and bitter, so give this a try if you have Cointreau .

Elderflower Mojito Rum Cocktail

An elderflower mojito is light, refreshing and very tasty. This classic Cuban mixed drink is a rum cocktail and I used St. Germain elderflower liqueur to give it a wonderful flavour. Any occasion is perfect for a fancy mojito and you can even omit the rum to make a mojito mocktail instead.

This delicious elderflower mojito is a breeze to prepare. You only need 6 ingredients to make it. The fruity, floral flavour of elderflower works beautifully in this lime and rum cocktail.

What Makes A Pina Colada Not Vegan

Here comes the big non-vegan Pina Colada shocker Malibu Coconut Rum isnt vegan. This is down to the fact some of their sugar suppliers process sugar in a way that is not considered vegan friendly.

What does this mean? Well, it must mean the sugar is processed using bone char .

The good news is that there are vegan coconut rum alternatives to Malibu such as Rumhaven coconut rum. I realize a traditional Pina Cola contains light rum and not Malibu but a lot of people like to use Malibu to give it an extra coconut kick. If you like the sound of that you can use a vegan alternative coconut rum.

How To Serve Rum Punch

How to make a Bundaberg Rum cocktail

Now, you know how to make rum punch. But how do you serve it?

One aspect you need to consider is how youre going to keep your punch cold. If you add ice to it, you might water down the drink and dilute the flavors.

A clever way to keep your punch cold is to freeze berries or slices of pineapple and toss them in your mixture. Using this method also helps flavor the drink even more. And who doesnt like ice-cold chunks of fruit in their punch?

Another aspect to consider is running out of punch. What do you do if your crowd absolutely decimates your bowl of punch? Well, you make more.

If you notice that youre running low on punch at the party, you can begin to make some more in a new bowl. Do not add ingredients directly to the bowl that is already out, as you can easily mess up the ratios of your drink.

Instead, start completely new. Experiment with your batch until it tastes nearly identical to the batch that is out. Once youre done making a new concoction, add the new mixture to the old one.

Difference Between Punch And Cocktails

One thing you should know before getting started is the difference between punch and a cocktail. On the surface, it seems like they are the same thing. But punch is meant for large groups of people, while a cocktail usually only serves one or two people.

Rum punch is an awesome party drink, but it can also be drunk alone or in small groups. You dont need to make an entire vat to enjoy it.

Heres a fun fact: the word punch comes from a Sanskrit word that translates to five. The drink is called punch because it was originally made with only five ingredients: alcohol, sugar, spice, lemon juice, and water.

How Long Does Rum Punch Lasts

If youre preparing rum punch for an upcoming party or event, it is imperative to know how long your mixture will last before it spoils. A good rule of thumb is to make your rum punch a maximum of 24 hours before your event.

However, do not add any fresh fruit to the mixture until it is ready to be served. Fruit elements like orange slices, lemon slices, or cherries can start to rot if stored improperly. Even if stored at an ample temperature, the fruit will not be nearly as fresh as if its cut and added to the punch at the time of serving.

Another note to consider is if youre using citrus in your rum punch, it might start to sour if stored too long. If youre cutting it close to the 24-hour mark, its best to add the citrus later when the punch is ready to be served.

If you make your rum punch right, you probably wont have to worry about leftovers. But if you need to store your rum punch, put it in the refrigerator as soon as you can.

History Of The Espresso Martini Cocktail

The Best Rum Drinks I’ve Ever Had | How to Drink

The Espresso martini with coffee or Vodka Espresso has a quintessential 1980s-esque origin story. The bartender-hero, Dick Bradsell of the Soho Brasserie in London, was given a specific request by a supermodel for something that would wake her up and then fuck her up. Vodka was the ubiquitous spirit of the era and Red Bull was not a thing yet. One could almost imagine neon backlighting amidst wafts of hairspray in the general atmosphere while Bradsells creative juices got flowing. Fast forward to today and it turns out his spur of the moment creation is one of the most popular drinks in the world. Bartenders have active debates about ingredients and substitutions but also love to both knock the recipe as well as knock one or two back, sometimes without any shame. Over time, many recipes found the inclusion of a little vanilla to add better aroma and that oak aged spirits with lots of natural vanillin were perfect to sub in as a base. The Rum version of Martini Espresso, this neon-era vintage recipe is essentially another rung on the cocktail evolutionary ladder, a nod of tribute to the Spanish Carajillo, and does not disappoint its patrons.

This is an instruction set detailing how to make rum at home. It takes about 4-10 days to complete. This instruction set includes instructions for making rum, a link for making a reflux still of your own, and a link for dilution of the final product. Rum has been in production since the 17th century in the Caribbean, where the majority of rum production still takes place. It was traditionally made from sugarcane juice, but now is usually made from molasses or brown sugar.

  • Prep time: 4-6 weeks
  • Yield: Approximately 2-3 L rum

Finishing Off The Rum

  • 1Age your rum in oak barrels or toasted oak . Often, rum is aged in toasted oak barrels for 10 years or longer to add depth of flavor and color. If you don’t have the luxury of a toasted oak barrel, or 10 years’ time, you can safely soak your rum in toasted oak chips for three weeks to impart a signature taste. Filter your rum through a cheesecloth or clean cotton shirt to catch any of the wood particles.
  • 2Use water to dilute alcohol to expected proof. Depending on the reflux still, your undiluted rum can be up to 95% alcohol, which is dangerously strong for consumption. Use a dilution calculator to bring your rum down to around 45% for the best taste experience.
  • 3Add flavors of other additives to improve the taste. Make spiced rum by adding cinnamon, ginger, and cloves to the final rum mixture, soaking for 1 – 2 weeks. Some choose to add a small amount of caramelized sugar to the rum.Advertisement

    Perfect Rum And Coke Ratio

The perfect ratio of Rum and Coke is between 1:2 and 1:3. As it is a classic Highball recipe, proportions are essential for getting things right. As I said, Highballs are mixed drinks based on a spirit, lots of ice, and a filler only. Therefore, it is crucial to pay attention to every detail. Its all about choosing the right ingredients, using enough ice, and having the correct ratio.

I suggest you start with a Highball glass and fill it up with quality ice. Pour in 2 ounces of your Rum of choice followed by 4 ounces of Coke. That means you start with a 1:2 ratio, and from there, you can gradually increase the amount of Coke until the mixture is to your liking.

As a rule of thumb, the higher the quality of your Rum, the fewer Coke you want to use. Generally, in a recipe based on white Rum, your ratio should be more like 1:3. In a version made with aged Rum, you better aim for a ratio of 1:2. That allows the Rum flavors to create a more complex drink.

How to Make a Sparkling Spiced Rum Cocktail

Vegan Rum Cocktails when it comes to cocktails rum makes for some of the most fun, fruity, and tropical cocktail creations. Want a cocktail served in a severed and hollowed pineapple one pina colada, please. Want something fruity with little cocktail umbrellas then go for a Strawberry Daquiri. When it comes to cocktails rum just makes for some of the best fun ones. It is a fact. As for being vegan, rum cocktails can be vegan friendly. Take a Pina Colada, in its traditional form it is completely vegan. It is only when some places try to cheapen the drink by adding milk and dairy that it can be made non-vegan. As for my personal favorite there is nothing quite like a banana Daquiri creamy, delish, and cooling. Perfect.
