Likewise with this mulled wine: its too delicious and, frankly, too perfect for chasing away the chill of winter to limit to one month of this long season. So I plan to make it again and again until the trees start budding and I can move on to that warm-weather wine punch, sangria.

This bourbon can be quite dangerous as it doesnt drink as hot as the proof may suggest. It also makes a phenomenal Old Fashioned with just a touch of sugar and a few dashes of bitters.

    The Glendronach Parliament Scotch Whisky

    Like The Macallan, The GlenDronach specializes in maturation using sherry oak casks, but their finished product is entirely different.

    Unlike other smokey whiskies on this list, this scotch is sweet, ripe, and rich with hints of sulfur. Its scent will also remind you of mulch and some woodsmoke.

    Woodford Reserve launched its Double Oaked expression in 2012. After initial aging, this bourbon is further matured in barrels that are lightly toasted and then heavily charred. This gives the whiskey a full, almost smoky flavor that brings a cocktail to another level. It’s a full-bodied whiskey with loads of vanilla, caramel, fruit and spice notes, all of which are enhanced by their inclusion in the classic Old Fashioned, says Burns. Double Oaked also has a nice rich, creamy mouthfeel that works super well with a muddled sugar cube, well soaked with bitters.

    Theres a correct way of drinking fine whiskey. Its a mistake to tip up your glass and glug the whiskey down. But if you want to enjoy drinking it, heres how to do it correctly.

    Start by just taking small tips of the spirit. As you sip a small amount, hold it in your mouth. Dont gulp it right away.     Can You Substitute Ice For Water

    Whisky cocktails almost always call for ice and many people order whisky with a few ice cubes floating about. In theory, leaving a few ice cubes in your whisky will achieve the same guaiacol-moving result. However, there are risks to this approach. Temperature greatly affects how we perceive taste, especially with drinks. So taking your whisky on the rocks will open up the flavour a bit, but it may taste different to you than a whisky diluted with a few drops of room temperature water. In the end it is a matter of personal taste, so go do a little experimenting of your own!
