With warmer weather, longer days, and new life sprouting everywhere, springtime brings a lot to celebrate, and even more ways to do it: sunny weekend brunches, afternoon chilling and grilling on the deck, backyard bocce ball tourneys, the list goes on. Here, Florida bartender Amie Lynch unveils three zesty, sparkling pairings of Tanqueray London Dry Gin& Fever Tree Tonic to supplement your glorious afternoons of springtime downtime. She also included a tribute to the royal wedding, another cause for celebration this spring .

The Bottle Is Not A Tiny Fire Hydrant

Sure, we see a reasonable visual resemblance, but the Tanqueray bottle wasnt based on a fire hydrant. The bottle was actually, and carefully, modeled after a cocktail shaker, a marketing attempt at aligning the strangely assertive flavors of English gin with the more approachable, mutable flavors of the American cocktail scene. When Tanqueray 10 launched in 2000, the company used a similar shape but added a not uncool retro citrus reamer vibe to play up the aforementioned citrus.

Strawberry Black Pepper Gin & Tonic

A simple way to elevate the classic Gin and Tonic is to simply add a few strawberries, black pepper, premium soda water, and Tanqueray gin. This Strawberry Black Pepper Gin & Tonic is a fruity twist on the classic drink and features a sweet, peppery combo that adds an extra dimension of flavor to the pretty pink drink. Paired with a crisp, dry gin youll be able to taste floral notes and enjoy a spicy, citrus finish.

Ingredients

  • l ½ ounces Tanqueray gin
  • 3 ounces tonic water
  • Muddle strawberries with black pepper.
  • Strain and pour in a glass with ice.
  • Stir in the gin and top with tonic.
  • Garnish with a strawberry and serve.

    Gin & Cranberry Juice

Cranberry juice with gin doesnt need anything else added to it

For a tart, dry mixer for your gin, try cranberry juice! If you have the time and inclination, this could be made by blending and sieving fresh cranberries, but otherwise, shop-bought juice is fine – we love Frobishers Cranberry Juice. We like to mix our gin and cranberry juice with a twist and squeeze of fresh lemon or lime to give it added zing, particularly if your juice has added sweeteners.

    Opihr Oriental Spiced Gin

Cocktails To Prove That Tanqueray And Summer Are Soulmates ...

Opihr Oriental Spiced Gin is a gin inspired by the ancient Spice Routes. This gin is infused with carefully selected spices from exotic places. These spices are then distilled using the same method the Opihr distillery used all the way back in 1761.

Opihr Oriental Spiced Gin is made with many different spices, many of which are not only tasty but fragrant as well. Hints of cardamom, pepper, cumin and many citruses give the fragrance a warm and robust scent.

This scent is also found back in the taste. Youll get a wonderfully warm flavor full of spices and citruses.

The botanicals used in Opihr Oriental Spiced Gin are as following: Indian Black Pepper, Italian Juniper Berries, Malaysian Cubeb Berries, Moroccan Coriander, Spanish Orange Peel,Indian Ginger, Indian Cardamom, German Angelica Root, Turkish Grapefruit Peel, and Turkish Cumin.

Due to all the different spices used in this gin, youll get quite a complex taste. This complexity goes very well with the warm and sweet taste of ginger ale. Ginger ale in and of itself is also on the more complex side.

Added to that is once again that beautiful contrast between the fresh and spicy taste of ginger ale and the crisp and spicy taste of the gin.

    Tanqueray: A Simple Recipe

    Tanqueray Ten Gin Review!

Gin production is relatively easy: Theres no malted barley that has to be blessed by a Celtic priest or banjo-serenaded bourbon barrels required. Theres only juniper. Many recipes go well beyond with unexpected ingredients Scottish rowan berries, lavender, love but for 180-plus years, Tanqueray stuck by the seemingly simple combination of only four botanicals: Tuscan juniper, coriander, angelica root, and licorice. But dont let numbers fool you. With just those four botanicals, Tanqueray presents a blooming gin bouquet.

Quinine is a product of the Cinchona tree’s bark, which is harvested on an eight-year cycle. It is the source for that bitter kick in tonic water, and to have a successful tonic it must be counteracted by other ingredients. When the recipe is right, a nice tonic is born and this is what we find here.

From Presidents To Rat Packs America Loves Tanqueray

According to Diageo archivist Joanne McKerchar, Tanqueray was the first drink poured in the White House after Prohibition was repealed in 1933. Then, in the 1960s, the Rat Pack realized they loved the stuff, too, famously putting down more than a few Tanqueray Martinis in the Buena Vista Social Club. Says McKerchar, Sales of Tanqueray doubled in a year without a penny of advertising money being spent on the brand.

Tanquerays Tinkering Led To Modern Craft Gin

When gin, and not equine toiletries, won out in Tanquerays heart, he dedicated himself wholly to improving what passed for gin at the time, taking on industry leaders Felix Booth and Alexander Gordon . While developing what would become his flagship recipe, Tanqueray stumbled upon his preferred method for distilling botanicals into a small quantity of neutral grain spirit before distilling the larger batch for the final time. It was one of the first innovations in botanical infusion, central to the whole how-is-this-delicious-gin-not-vodka? question.

Foxs Kiln Distillery Rhubarb & Ginger Gin

    Tanqueray London Dry Gin

Foxs Kiln Distillery is a rather young gin distillery, founded by Jared Brown in 2011. It wasnt until 2019 that he started to distill gin. Jared Brown loves to experiment with natural, local ingredients.

Currently, Foxs Kiln Distillery offers a few different flavored gins. Besides his Rhubarb & Ginger variant, he also has a Blood Orange variant which is covered in this article about the best blood orange-based gins.

Foxs Kiln Distilerry Rhubarb & Ginger Gin is a fruity, tart gin. The sweet taste of rhubarb is a dominant flavor and scent and will be detectable all the time. However, this sweetness is balanced out by a zingy, warm taste of ginger, making for a complex and contrasting taste within the gin itself.

Not only does this gin taste complex, but also full-bodied, making for a rich and delicious gin to use in many types of drinks.

Besides drinking this gin neat, the distillery itself suggests serving this with ginger ale. The ginger ale will perfectly complement the complex, full-bodied taste of Foxs Kiln Distillery Rhubarb & Ginger Gin, leaving a long-lasting impression.

Changing Up The Recipe To Make More Delicious Drinks

A really lovely little tip I have for this drink if you want to make it sweeter is add some raspberry liqueur or fresh raspberry juice to the bottom of the glass with the blueberries. It really brings out an extra flavour and compliments the blueberries really well.

The lime helps to make both flavours blend but also stand on their own. Other options for flavours that work include strawberries with a dash of Aperol. Fresh pomegranate seeds with a little pomegranate juice is fresh and fruity.

A great summer alternative is also to add fresh watermelon chunks and juice. It works really well for a summer G& T.

Even before topping up with tonic the drink looks gorgeous. The bright white ice cubes mixed in with the squashed blueberries and mint glisten in the sunshine. Almost like its reaching out for the tonic to make it hole.

If you want to make these for a party you can make up a big batch of squashed up blueberries and mint add it to each glass. When youre ready to serve add ice cubes and then top up with tonic.

Drinks For Good Weather Blueberry Gin And Tonic Recipe

What is better than a twist on a gin and tonic while relaxing in this glorious weather! Ive been enjoying trying out new G& T combinations with fruit to enjoy this summer.

My favourite so far is this blueberry, mint and lime gin and tonic. It is super quick to make and very delicious, fresh and refreshing. Any super quick delicious cocktails have my vote in time for summer.

One, or a few, of these in the sunshine mixed long evenings with friends is a highlight of the summer for me. Fresh fruit with gin is definitely great to experiment with.

Squash the blueberries with mint leaves and a wedge of lime. Add to the glass and top up with ice cubes. Even without the gin and tonic it already looked so gorgeous! Top up with the tonic and serve.

I really hope you enjoy the gin and tonic. Its a super refreshing drink and a classic in my house now. It is a simple drink but absolutely delicious and now a family and friend favourite. It definitely lends itself to summer but I see no reason why you cant enjoy it all year round.

Whats The Gin And Coke Ratio

Tip 1 to making the best Gin and Coke recipe: use the right ratio! Often restaurants mix up a version of this drink thats too heavy on the coke. Use the right ratio to get just the right flavor combination. The Gin and coke ratio is:

    • 2 ounces gin to 4 ounces cola =
    • 1 part gin to 2 parts cola

Of course, you can play around to find your favorite quantities. Some people complain that cola totally overwhelms the delicate flavors of gin, but they peak out beautifully in this ratio. If you prefer more gin, you can try the ratio 2 ounces gin to 3 ounces cola.

Speaking Of The Rat Pack It Was Frank Versus The Tanq

The Rat Pack had a controversial relationship with alcohol, and it turns out Frank Sinatra had his own love-hate relationship with gin. In the online forum Sinatrafamily.com, which looks like a family-run website dedicated to keeping the legacy of Frank Sinatra safe and free, one user asks, Did Frank really drink gin? omehow that surprises me. Administrator Nancy if we believe the site, Nancy Sinatra herself replies simply and sadly: Dad loved Tanqueray gin but it didnt love him.

How To Make A Gin Rickey:

    • Add lime juice to a highball or collins glass .
    • Pour in Gin.
    • Fill the glass with club soda and garnish with lime.
    • Give it a quick stir and serve immediately.

Tanqueray & Tonic An Investigation Into The Best Garnish For Tanqueray Gins

Discover Why Tanqueray Gin Is an Iconic Spirit

This is the first part of my investigation into garnishes for Tanqueray Gin. Ive spent a little time recently thinking about the lemon vs. lime argument. For World Gin Day, I made a Gin & Tonic according to a 1938 recipe using Masons Gin, which used lemon and/or lime . Having recently returned from Spain, I also fancied experimenting a little more with the Gin Tonica serve for this classic drink.

Naturally, after a quick reflection, I decided the best way to investigate this subject would be to do a taste test. I extended my normal citrus selection to include: lemon, lime, orange, pink grapefruit and red grapefruit.

I shall be tasting both of the following gins in my Gin & Tonics:

Tanqueray Export Strength from hereon referred to as Original which is made using 4 botanicals: Juniper, Coriander, Angelica, and Liquorice and

Tanqueray No:10 , whose botanicals include: Juniper, Angelica, Coriander, Chamomile, White Grapefruit, Lime and Orange .

Each drink will be mixed with Fevertree Tonic. I will add a double measure of gin to a tonica glass filled with ice and then add 150ml of Fevertree Tonic. Each one will be garnished with a wedge of the fruit being tested and a little spritz of oil from the peel over the top of the drink, for aroma.

    Control

Original: A rather classic Gin & Tonic with dry, piney juniper, some angelica and sweet liquorice. Cooling and refreshing, this works very well straight-up without a garnish.

Why To Make Agin And Coke

The Gin and Coke is a variation on the the Rum and Coke, the popular drink that youve probably had too many of in your life. The Rum and Coke itself is a variation on the Cuba Libre, a highball cocktail of rum, cola and lime that was invented Cuba in the early 1900s. It quickly spread to America, where people started to mix cola with all sorts of spirits.

The exact history of mixing Gin and Coke is uncertain. Some people call the drink the Cubata, or say its the Spanish version of Rum and Coke since the preferred spirit in Spain is gin. Whatever the case, the Gin and Coke is an incredible mix of botanical, zingy, sweet and bubbly flavor thats even better than the originalwe think. Here a few tips to making the best gin and coke.

What Types Of Gin Mix Well With Ginger Ale

Ginger ale is, to say the least, a drink for the acquired taste. Nowadays, there are many sorts of ginger ale on the market. Some are sweeter and more sugary, while others will be crisp and sharp.

Then, theres also the difference between ginger ale and ginger beer. The difference is actually quite simple. Ginger beer is way sharper, whereas ginger ale is a little smoother and sweeter. Ginger ale is more approachable, where ginger beer is a purer, denser version of it.

In either case, ginger ale will always be dominant in a drink, simply because of the sharpness that the ginger gives it. This is also the reason why I initially called it a drink for the acquired taste.

This sharpness, however, is also what makes ginger ale such a fantastic drink. With its sharp, fresh, and sweet taste, ginger ale makes for a fantastic drink, either on its own or as a mixer.

Ginger ale is quite a strong drink, so not every type of gin will be as great with it. With that being said, what types of gin actually mix well with ginger ale?

Ginger ale can be quite strong and sharp, so if you want to mix it with gin, make sure you use a gin that also has a sharp taste. The gin needs to be able to hold its own against the ginger ale, otherwise, you would not be able to taste it.

Another type of gin that goes well with ginger ale would of course be a ginger-infused gin. The ginger-infused gin will perfectly complement the taste of the ginger ale, making for a great combination.
