American Mathematics Competitions For The 2021

The Mathematical Association of America hosts the annual AMC contests for middle and high school students. Its purpose is to spur interest in mathematics and develop talent through the excitement of friendly competition at problem solving in a timed format.

The AMC-10/12A Contest will be held at FAU on Wednesday, November 10, 2021, beginning at 1:00pm.

The AMC-10/12B Contest will be held at FAU on Tuesday, November 16, 2021, beginning at 10:00am.

Registration is now open, and will remain open until all slots are full.

Please note that while proctoring by FAU is mandatory, we will attempt to offer both an in-person option or a virtual option. All contests will be given via the computerized format at the indicated time. We also reserve the right to change to completely virtual if the need arises. If at any time a student is asked by their school to quarantine or is sick, please do not come in person to FAU, but email me as soon as possible to change the format for your contest. All students will be set up through Canvas for the contest links, so switching from in-person to virtual will be easy.

Yes, as long as a student is eligible to take the appropriate competitions. That is, a 10th grader or below can take the both AMC 10 A and the AMC 10 B, the AMC 12 A and the AMC 12 B, etc, and an 11th or 12th grader can take the AMC 12 A and the AMC 12 B. However, in order to do this the school will have to register for both dates and order competition bundles for each exam.

Math Students Ace American Mathematics Competition

More than 115 George School students sat for the American Mathematics Competition on Thursday, January 30, 2020. Eight students William Carson 20, Forest Ho-Chen 22, Pasit Jindanuwat 20, Jason Liu 22, Justin Liu 21, Thana Somsirivattana 20, Tommy Wang 21, and Ellen Zhang 22 advanced to the American Invitational Mathematics Examination .

Forest, Thana, Justin, and Ellen are among the top 2.5 percent of test takers, and Pasit earned distinction as a top 1 percent scorer.

The AMC 10/12 is the first in a series of competitions that eventually lead to the International Mathematical Olympiad. For the AMC test, students took a 25-question, 75-minute, multiple choice exam designed to promote the development and enhancement of problem-solving skills. The AIME exam, which is the next step in the competition, will be a 15-question, 3-hour examination.

The Mathematical Association of America website states that, The questions on the AIME are much more difficult than those on the AMC 10 and AMC 12 competitions. Top scoring students on the AIME are invited to take the United States of America Mathematical Olympiad or the United States of America Junior Mathematical Olympiad .

• Deadlines

The AMC 10 and AMC 12 are both 25-question, 75-minute, multiple-choice examinations in high school mathematics designed to promote the development and enhancement of problem-solving skills.

The AMC 10 is for students in 10th grade and below, and covers the high school curriculum up to 10th grade. Students in grade 10 or below and under 17.5 years of age on the day of the contest can take the AMC 10. The AMC 12 covers the entire high school curriculum including trigonometry, advanced algebra, and advanced geometry, but excluding calculus. Students in grade 12 or below and under 19.5 years of age on the day of the contest can take the AMC 12.

These competitions are administered around the country on Wednesday, November 10, 2021, and Tuesday, November 16, 2021. How To Layer Cream Onto The Shots
