The Perfect Taste Of Summer With The Malibu Vodka Cocktail

How to Make Pineapple Infused Vodka

With lockdown and social distancing still going on and holidays and travel looking a bit more anxiety driven right now, I have created this recipe to act as the stand in between home and holiday. I can imagine drinking this on a beautiful beach with the feet on the sand and the waves washing over them. Id love a holiday about now!

Tips For Making Party Cocktails:

Rather you are hosting a cocktail party or just a backyard cookout, cocktails are a great addition. Go with simple cocktails like these Pineapple Screwdrivers.

Set up a bar with a couple of Acrylic Drink Pitchers of the mixed drinks along with lots of ice and fun garnishes.

Easy cocktail garnishes can include Maraschino cherries, fresh mint, pineapple chunks or wedges, orange, lemon or lime slices.

Use disposable Cocktail Picks or if you are having a more formal gathering, these cute pineapple cocktail picks like you see in the photos are fun.

These Pineapple glasses are super cute for serving all of your favorite pineapple and tropical drinks!

This handy Bartender Kit is also a great idea to have for hosting cocktail parties.

How To Make Homemade Vanilla Vodka:

Vanilla vodka drinks are my favorite kind of cocktails. There are so many possibilities. Its super simple to make your own infused vanilla vodka and this will guarantee a clean taste with no artificial additives or flavors.

Infused vodka recipes are super popular right now and so easy to make in your own kitchen. Infusing is simple! Just add your favorite ingredient and let the flavors meld together.

Here is my basic Vanilla Vodka Recipe:

  • Pour 12 ounces of plain vodka in a resealable bottle or jar
  • Cut in half and then split open 2 vanilla beans
  • Drop them into the vodka, making sure they are fully submerged
  • Seal the bottle and shake well
  • Vanilla vodka will be ready to use in just a few hours for a light vanilla flavor. However, it will develop a fuller richer vanilla flavor after about 3 days. Shake occasionally while infusing and before each use.

Store the vanilla vodka in the freezer and it will keep indefinitely. I add more vodka as I use it. The beans will last for many refills.

If you keep the vanilla vodka at room temperature for an extended time it will eventually become vanilla extract . See our Homemade Vanilla Extract post for full details on how to make and bottle your own vanilla.

How To Make Pineapple

It might be borderline dangerous that pineapple vodka is every bit as easy to make as it is easy to drink.

I definitely recommend making your vodka with the best fresh pineapple you can find. Using a super sweet pineapple will make all the difference for the final flavor.

Infusing the vodka in a container with a spigot, such as a large drink dispenser, will also make it easier to transfer the finished vodka to bottles later.

Pro-tip: Save the original vodka bottles and pour the pineapple vodka back into them for easy storage later.

Ive shared infused vodka recipes before, including Pecan Pie Vodka and Mulling Spiced Vodka, but this infused vodka is even easier than the rest.

Just cut the fresh pineapple into chunks and pour the vodka over it. The folks at the Capital Grille let it go for 12 days, so I like to let mine infuse at room temperature for 12-14 days before straining it and pouring it into bottles.

Heres another tip from me to you: Dont save the pineapple after infusing. All of the flavor is gone, so just discard it. Trust me here its not something youll want to eat.

Pineapple Infused Vodka Drink

I really think you all are going to enjoy this cocktail. Serve it for summer bbqs, Valentines Day, Halloween, or for a fun party on a weekend. You can make it look spooky, romantic, or just plain fun! Such a versatile drink!

Give this pineapple vodka mixed drink recipe a try, and let me know how you like it. This pineapple vodka recipe is different than your classic cocktail you would whip up.

Why We Make Our Own Pineapple

Making your own pineapple-infused vodka is easy and rewarding if you are a lover of cocktails. I’m not suggesting that anyone actually make vodka. I guess you could, but I don’t know howand I believe it is illegal in most states. However, what I do know how to do is turn a bottle of plain old vodka into yummy pineapple-infused vodka.

My husband and I, along with another couple, have a long-standing tradition of splurging on a trip to Del Frisco’s once a year for steaks and drinks. We usually order a great red wine with dinner, but before dinner, at the bar, we enjoy experimenting with the fun cocktails the bartender whips up for us. During our last Del Frisco’s excursion, the bartender made us some fabulous pineapple-flavored drinks that we loved. We just had to get the recipe. My husband got to chatting with the bartender, and he explained that the drinks were simply pineapple-infused vodka shaken with ice and served martini-style. He showed us his huge jar of pineapple that was sitting in vodka, steeping, as the sweet, tropical flavor of the pineapple became infused in the vodka.

What To Mix With Pineapple Vodka

Pineapple is definitely one of my top 5 fruits. I could eat one every day and never get sick of it so I am very excited about this pineapple vodka. Im just starting to imagine all the drinks we will make with it. Go for something like:

    • pineapple vodka and soda for a light but so tasty drink
    • mix it with sprite for a slightly sweeter version
    • pineapple vodka punch with some citrus juice and sprite

It would also be really good in these drinks that are traditionally made with rum:

What Is An Island Breeze Cocktail

Pineapple Vodka Cocktail | SWEET with a Bit of HEAT

An Island Breeze Cocktail is a fruity vodka drink made with pineapple and cranberry juice. Its the perfect drink for one or to make as a party punch!

This cocktail was one of my favorites from vacation. I say one of because I had a lot. Too many! But I discovered something I didnt know about myself: I love pineapple juice. Especially when its mixed with alcohol!

Youll find this cocktail on the menu at the Marriott Maui Ocean Club where we stayed. If Id have been smart while we were there I would have gone to the grocery store and bought a bottle of vodka and some juice and had cocktails for days. Instead I spent $10 a pop on this drink.

Dare I say it was worth it? It was.

    Choose Your Liquor And Flavorings

The first and most obvious step is to choose your infusion. Most common liquors, like vodka, tequila, rum, whiskey and gin, are all great choices. More complex liquors, like mezcal, aren’t as easy to work with.

Vodka is my favorite option – it’s essentially a blank canvas that can take on any flavor combination. If you’re not a fan of vodka, tequila and rum are easy to start with, too.

When it comes to choosing flavors to infuse, think about your favorite cocktails involving that liquor. Rum, for example, is often used with tropical flavors like pineapple, mango, guava, etc. Whiskey, on the other hand, often calls for warmer flavors like cinnamon, anise, orange and vanilla.

You can infuse liquor with just about anything – fresh fruit, herbs, spices, dried fruit, and anything else your heart desires. It’s best to stick with just a few complementary flavors – don’t overdo it with too many ingredients. Here’s a breakdown of the ingredients we used in these infusions:

    • Vodka + Fresh strawberries + Vanilla Bean
    • Tequila + Jalapeño + Lime
    • Strawberry Vanilla Bean Vodka
    • Pineapple Rum

It doesn’t have to be complicated. The pineapple infused rum is actually my favorite – it’s SO good in tropical cocktails!
