What The Vodka Cranberry Drink Tastes Like
The Vodka Cranberry is sometimes thought of as a beginners drink because its not very strong and you dont really taste the alcohol. But its a delicious drink for anyone.
The great thing about this drink is how refreshing it is without being strong. The lime and cranberry are both tart, which really wakes up your taste buds.
But you also get some sweetness from the dash of orange juice, and that makes it delicious.
Note that some bartenders do make this drink much stronger. The classic recipe only calls for an ounce of vodka, but some put in a good bit more.
When its mixed according to this recipe, the only reason youll know the vodka is in there is that slight burn you feel as it goes down. And it is really slight.
If you want a regular strength drink, you certainly can bump the vodka up to the standard 1 1/2 ounces without changing the flavor noticeably.
If you want your drink on the strong side, bump it up to two ounces of vodka and just reduce the cranberry juice accordingly.

You know what goes great with lemonade? Sweet fruit! Chop up some strawberries, raspberries, or even some blackberries and stir them into your lemonade. Let them sit in your lemonade for at least 30 minutes before serving to meld the flavors together.

That may sound silly, but it is actually important with making cocktails! Have you ever made fresh lemonade and then added it to a pitcher of ice and 1/2 hour later it is diluted and blah? If you add 4 cups of ice you could potentially have up to 4 cups of water diluting your lemonade, which can definitely affect the flavor.
Although I added ice to the pitcher in the images, that is not how I typically serve it. When making lemonade specifically to serve with cocktails, I definitely do not add ice to the pitcher as you will have ice in the glass.

British-based brand Diageo owns Jeremiah Weed, which sells mostly whiskey-based beverages. However, they introduced a Sweet Tea Vodka in 2011. This recipe needs a cup of fresh juice, so itll take around 6-8 lemons, depending on the size of the fruit. Use a citrus reamer or juicer to juice the lemons, and strain the juice to remove any pulp or seeds.
Pour the fresh juice into a pitcher and add ½ cup of granulated sugar. Stir until the sugar has begun to dissolve.

What Vodka To Use
Ironically the brand or quality of vodka doesnt have a strong effect on a great tasting cocktail. Vodka is essentially a flavorless liquor, so the taste will not shine through as much as the lemonade. Typically I use something mid range, such as Smirnoff, Stoli, or Titos.
Add another layer of flavor by using flavored vodkas. Substitute regular vodka with raspberry, strawberry, citrus, cranberry, or blueberry.
How To Make Vodka Cocktails:
First youll make some simple syrup. Simple syrup is the sweetener that youll be adding to the cocktail. Combine 1 cup of sugar and 1 cup of water in a small saucepan. Heat and stir to dissolve the sugar, and then pull it from the heat and let it cool.
The simple syrup is then combined with lemon juice and chopped fresh mint. This mixture is poured into an ice cube tray and put into the freezer to make the ice cubes for the vodka lemonade. If youd rather drink this cocktail on the rocks instead of drinking it as a frozen cocktail, you can skip this step and just prepare the cocktails to serve over ice.
If youre making frozen cocktails, youll blend the ice cubes with vodka and sparkling water.
