Different Types Of Tequila

How to Make a Patron Silver Margarita : Margarita Recipes

Today, Tequila saturates the liquor market, and though all Tequila is distilled from agave, there are two basic categories: mixtos and 100% agave. The mixtos uses no less than 51% agave, but other sugars make up the remainder. The distinction in flavor comes from the base ingredient, which makes 100% agave more complex.

In addition to this basic difference, Tequila is bottled in one of five categories:2

  • Blanco White or Silver This type is un-aged, meaning its bottled or stored immediately after distilling, and generally stored in stainless steel so no flavor soaks into the liquor from the barrel
  • Reposado Known as rested tequila, it is aged at least two months, but no longer than one year, and always in oak barrels, as it takes on the flavor of the wood and mellows the alcohol
  • Joven A mixture of un-aged and aged Tequila, this type is called both young and gold
  • Añejo Aged at least one year, but less than three, it is also always stored in oak barrels
  • Extra Añejo Meaning extra aged, this is aged a minimum of three years in oak barrels
  • The more aged Tequilas are generally smoother and more complex, while the Blanco has the harsher flavor of the agave at the front of the palate.

    Say No To Margarita Mix

Store-bought or mass-produced margaritas can be full of food coloring, sugars, additives, artificial sweeteners, and even high-fructose corn syrup.

That margarita slushie machine? Good chance its full of things you dont actually want to drink. Stick to homemade margaritas and places where you can see the actual ingredients bartenders are mixing in your glass.

    Is Tequila Made Of Agave

Like many alcohols, tequila is made from a plant. In the case of Patron, its the core of the blue agave plant which also gives use some forms of agave nectar, a natural sweetener.

Blue agave is a regionally distilled plant primarily produced in the city of Tequila, which is located about 40 miles northwest of Guadalajara, Mexico.

Normally, tequila has a 38% alcohol content, but can be produced between 31 and 55% . To be sold in the USA, it must contain at least 40% alcohol.

Patron cocktails are popular with those whole love margaritas but are looking for a change from the traditional lime and salt drink that goes so well with tequila.

Tequila and pineapple juice is a sweeter combination that delivers a fruity finish instead of the sour taste that is so common with margaritas.

What Is 100% Blue Agave Tequila

If it is 100% blue agave, it will indicate it on the label. Youll find that 100% blue agave tequilas are more expensive, but for good reason. These tequilas are made with only the juice of the blue agave plant and they are pure and delicious enough to be sipped all on their own. While tequila that is not 100% blue agave will be less expensive, they are not truly all tequila. Producers of these tequilas are allowed to use up to 49% non-agave sugars including cheap cane sugar not good. They will sometimes add other additives like caramel coloring and flavor extracts to make it mimic the look and taste of 100% blue agave tequila.

    Why Choose Patron Silver

Patron is the #1 premium tequila, and if you listen to my daughter talk, it is the only tequila to use. She came home at Christmas and turned her nose up when she examined my liquor cabinet and discovered a differnt brand of tequila in it.

I have to say, that after tasting it, I must agree with her. Its really delicious and so smooth. The tequila is soft and light colored and has a fresh smooth taste with no hint of oak.

Patron is perfect for drinking straight and drinks made with Patron have a smooth, light finish to them. Ohand the bottle is really pretty, too!

Is The Patron Pineapple Drink A Strong One

The answer to this question really depends on the size of your glass. If you use a rocks glass with just a small amount of pineapple juice, youll get quite a kick from the drink.

To make a milder and less strong drink, just use the same amount of alcohol but choose a highball glass and pour in more pineapple juice. The highball drink will be slightly sweeter.

Looking for an appetizer to pair with this Patron mixed drink? Here are four different ones to try? They are light and fresh and super easy to make.

You can choose from Mushroom & Bacon, Cheddar & Prosciutto, Avocado & Shrimp or Rosemary & pear all on one recipe card. What a nice pairing!

It Wont Spike Your Blood Sugar

How Many Calories In A 750ml Bottle Of Tequila

Mexican researchers from Centro de Investigación y de Estudios Avanzados Biotechnology and Biochemistry Irapuato have found that the agave in tequila is non-digestible and will not raise blood sugar levels as much as other booze. This is good news for Sue Torres, consulting chef with the hot Brooklyn restaurant Leyenda. Like 86 million Americans, she suffers from pre-diabetes. It leaves her with low blood sugar and an instant headache when she drinks most forms of alcohol. But tequila made from 100 percent blue agave actually agrees with Torres. Unlike other liquors, she tells The Post, Tequila has a soft sugar that does not cause my blood sugar level to spike, my body to sweat and my energy to crash. If I choose booze, I choose tequila.

If your preference is to savor a tequila then you want a copita shaped glass. The expansive middle will allow the aromatic compounds to gather while the narrow top will concentrate the aromas. Which Alcoholic Beverages Are More Diet

I often tell people to steer clear of alcoholic beverages when trying to lose weight. After all, they dont exactly provide nutritious calories, and consuming them can make it increasingly more challenging to lose weight. But that doesnt stop people from asking me, what is the best drink to have on a diet?

Clearly, some alcoholic beverages are more waistline-friendly than others. So the short answer is: If youre looking to shed pounds, some of your lowest-calorie bets are a shot of spirits , a glass of champagne a glass of dry wine or a traditional martini, with an average of 124 calories for a 2.5-ounce serving. A light beer or a glass of reduced-calorie wine are other lower-calorie options.

But if you want to know why some alcoholic beverages contain more calories than others, read on.

Pure alcohol contains 7 calories per gram thats less than a gram of fat, which has 9 calories, but more than protein and carbs, which have 4 calories per gram each but other variables of your drink influence the calorie count. The amount of alcohol, the total volume of a beverage, the amount of carbohydrates and sugars and mixers all play a role.

Generally, beer has more calories than wine, but the calorie difference in the two primarily comes from the leftover carbohydrates in beer, as the sugar content for most wines is fairly low.

    Using Fruit In Summer Cocktails

A silver tequila works best with pineapple for Patron mixed drinks. This is especially true when you want a somewhat transparent look to your drink like this one gives you.

If you dont have the Citrónge that is called for in the recipe card, you can substitute any orange liqueur, such as Cointreau or Triple Sec.

Nothing whisks us away to a virtual Caribbean vacation more than a fruity drink mixed with some alcohol and garnished with some fresh fruit. Fortunately, Patron Tequila Silver pairs just as well with sweet fruits as it does with limes!

Today well be using pineapple, cherries and limes along with pineapple juice. All I need now is a tiny mixed drink umbrella! I like keeping the small cans of pineapple juice on hand for making mixed drinks.

Nothing is worse that a whole bottle of juice going bad because you only needed it for one drink so this sized can is perfect for the job!

    What Is Ranch Water

Ranch Water is a simple, Texas-style margarita without all the sugar. This naturally low calorie cocktail has been a staple with Texas cattle ranchers for a very long time and has just recently gained popularity with the rest of us. Its easy to see why this icy, fizzy drink became so popular in that balmy Texas heat. It is ultra-refreshing and doesnt weigh you down like a beer might. It consists of three simple ingredients Tequila, Topo Chico Sparkling Mineral Water, and fresh lime juice and its seriously foolproof. You can alter the amounts of the ingredients to suit your taste or calorie goals.

Assuming you’re not allergic to agave, this is all great news, and the lower calorie count in each splash of tequila means you’ve got a little more wiggle room when it comes to putting together potentially gut-busting tequila cocktails. Not a ton of wiggle room, mind you — a basic margarita will run you upwards of 400 calories — but that’s why it’s called wiggle room.

How Many Calories Are In Ranch Water

The number of calories can vary a bit depending on the variety of tequila you choose, but regardless, tequila is one of the lowest calorie alcohol choices out there. The problem comes from those sweet mixers. While delicious, things like simple syrup, triple sec, and fruity add-ins add a ton of calories. Some blended restaurant margaritas can run up to 400 calories while Ranch Water comes in at about 130 calories. Huge difference! You can reduce the calories even further by decreasing the amount of tequila a bit, a good idea if the plan is to have more than one drink.
