Yaka Hula Hickey Dula
The Spruce Eats / S& C Design Studios
While you may not have heard of this drink, it’s one you won’t forget. Every time you make one, you get to say “Yaka Hula Dickey Dula,” and that alone is a reason to mix it up. The taste is pretty amazing, too. It’s a fascinating combination of rum and dry vermouth accented with pineapple. That’s a bit unusual, but the pairing works very well.

What Is Rum Punch
So, I did a little research on the origin of rum punch. Apparently, the word punch comes from a Sanskrit word that means five, as the drinks were originally made with five ingredients alcohol, sugar, lemon juice, water, and tea or spices.
The drink eventually made its way from England to the West Indies where it took on the more tropical notes that we know today. Native island fruits lent themselves perfectly to rum punch their natural sweetness has always been a perfect match for most kinds of rum.
When it comes to making rum punch, keep this rhyme in mind: One of Sour, Two of Sweet, Three of Strong, Four of Weak. This means punch is made with: one part lime juice, two parts sweetener, three parts rum, and four parts water. This doesnt mean that we have to follow this rhyme exactly, but it does help to get a rough idea of how much of everything youll need. You can always adjust the amounts to your own tastes to make the drink stronger or weaker.

Can I Use White Rum Instead Of Dark Rum In Cake
Answers to three questions. You may get a slightly different flavor, and certainly a different color, in the final dish, but you can always adjust the seasoning. It is common for white rum to be specified so as not to change its color, so you must decide if this is an acceptable change for your product.

What Mixes Well With Rum
Rum is that drink that never goes out of style. You can drink it all year round, including during the hot and steamy summer months by mixing it with other ingredients to create a scrumptious, smooth and cool drink.
You can be as creative as you like by using your very own special ingredients to mix with your favorite rum for a rousing recipe that will never go out of style. So lets talk about what mixes well with rum
1) Tonic water: You can add tonic water to well-aged rum to create a refreshing drink. You can use 1 part rum with 4 parts tonic water and a slice of lemon. You can fill a highball glass with ice cubes and add the rum and tonic water and shake well after you squeeze the lime wedge in. You can then garnish with a slice of lime. You can also use chilled tonic water for a refreshing summer drink.
2) Lime juice and a slice of lemon: You can add lime juice, mint, and sugar to rum to spice things up a bit. You can put the lime juice, mint, and sugar in a cocktail shaker and pound until roughly crushed. You should then add about 180 ml of a light rum to the shaker and shake until combined. Now strain the mixture into capacity glasses and place 2 lime wedges and 2 mint leaves in each glass. You can also add soda water to complete the drink.

Pineapple Ginger Mojitos With Spiced Rum
Pineapple Ginger Mojitos with fresh pineapple juice, lime and spiced rum make a refreshing summer cocktail. A sweet and spicy twist on the classic mojito!I love how beautiful this cocktail looks, and the taste is spot-on. All topped off with a wedge of caramelized pineapple.Summer days in the back garden, sunglasses on and a glass of this fruit cocktail in hand. Bliss.
Spiced rum is usually the drink of the summer for me. Wine and beer are good, but rum cocktails are so much better!
Ideal for summer barbecues, or simply to relax at the end of a hard week, this cocktail totally hits the spot.
I wanted to add a bit of a twist to the classic mojito, so going with spiced rum was a good start. The addition of some sweet pineapple and spicy fresh ginger is the perfect way to finish!
The cocktail still includes the classic mint/lime/soda combination. The only thing missing is the sugar. Since the recipe involves reducing pineapple juice down to make it more concentrated and therefore more sweet theres really no need to add any more sugar in there.

What Type Of Coca
This is one of those small things that most people donât think about when theyâre mixing up a rum and coke. There are two different types of Coca-cola available in the States that have fairly different flavor profiles.
Thereâs the everyday Coke that is available everywhere and Mexican Coke that comes in tall glass bottles and is becoming more available in grocery stores and bodegas. The major difference between them is that everyday Coke is made with high fruticose corn syrup and the Mexican Coke, named because thatâs where its bottled, is made with sugar cane.
When you taste the two side by side their differences are easy to spot. The Coke made in the States is very flavor forward, with a hint of bitterness, especially at the beginning. While the Mexican Coke is smoother with less of an aftertaste.
What is particularly interesting about the Mexican Coke is that it tastes more like what I remember Coke tasting like then the stuff I drink all the time.
Two final tips, donât make this recipe with Pepsi unless you like them cloying like sweet and always use lots of ice. Both the rum and the Coke in this recipe are better when theyâre cold. And, if youâre looking for a variation that is a little more off the beaten path try our recipe.

Absolute Best Drinks To Mix With Rum
When we think of rum mixers, chances are tropical concoctions are the first to come to mind. If we aren’t mixing rum with something fruity , we’re probably mixing it with the standard cola. But there’s so much more you can do with rum without breaking out the blender.
Liquor.com says, while rum is made from sugar, the taste isn’t always super sweet. White rum can be on the dry side, while a dark rum can have a woody flavor similar to scotch. Some rums can be mixed with those tropical fruits and lots of ice, while others are best simply stirred with one or two ingredients to enhance the spirit’s flavor.
What this comes down to is this: rum is far more versatile than we may give it credit for, and can be used with plenty of different mixers some of which you may not have even thought to try in the past. To help get the inspiration flowing, we’ve created a list of the best drinks to mix with rum for your sipping pleasure.

I have always liked the idea of being a bartender for a few months. Maybe I have watched too much Cheers but I have this idea in my head that I would be able to learn so many things about different kinds of people. The stories, and conversations I might overhear intrigues me. Maybe I am just nosy :). People are my thing and bartenders sure see and hear from alot of people, each day. I think I would like that. Eh, maybe I’m being silly.Just a day or two a month as a bartender.
There is something so special about getting together with friends and family enjoying a cocktail, meal, cake, or cup of coffee.
Give this cocktail a try. We recommend inviting friends over for an easy cocktail night. They will love this drink and you can rest easy knowing it is easy to make and fun to serve!
Old Jamaica Pineapple Soda
The fifth one I want to showcase this again has been out for a very long time. It goes in fits and starts. Tesco, Sainsbury’s, in the UK, some of them do carry this. You get this online from Amazon in the case of 24. This is old Jamaica Pineapple Soda. Think Lilt without the Grapefruit. I absolutely love this with any kind of rums. With these golden aged rums, Plantation Barbados 5yo is my absolute favourite with that. Absolutely love it with spiced rums. Just amazing. Kind of big, obviously it’s just the sort of a pineapple fizzy, Ive had an equivalent pineapple Fanta. I don’t think you could get it in the UK, but that is lovely. I think, you know if more wholesalers took this on, I think this would be a big deal in just simple serves. Rum and pineapple with a bit of lime maybe, or as a finishing to cocktails. So that is Old Jamaica Pineapple Soda.
Right, now I did mention I had a lot more than the five they are the five that are relatively unheard of and I think they’ve got a big part to play going forward in 2020, in the whole sort of rum thing. But there’s quite a few mixers on the market, again that you may not have heard of, or you may not have thought work well with Rum and Spiced Rum, so I’m just going to quickly whizz through these. Some of them you’ll see are behind me there.
