Can You Make Pina Colada With Tequila

Why I Love This Recipe

How to Make a Piña Colada with Patrón Silver | Patrón Tequila

Do you like Pina Coladas? Margaritas? If both answers are yes, you will LOVE this drink. It combines the best of these to make a truly delightful cocktail. It mixes up in minutes and gives a sweet and smooth taste sensation in every sip.

The coconut flavor predominates but is balanced with pineapple and lime to keep all the taste buds happy. The beverage is light and refreshing, yet completely satisfying.

Its a perfect drink to enjoy on a warm summer day or any day you want to feel like you are in the tropics!

And actually, it has slightly less liquor than a traditional margarita, since only tequila is used and no triple sec. So you can totally justify having another if youd like.

Is Cream Of Coconut Coconut Cream

Cream of coconut is coconut cream that has been sweetened and thickened to the consistency of a thick syrup. It has the consistency of sweetened condensed milk. Tropical cocktails, such as the famous pia colada, and desserts all benefit from the addition of this ingredient. Because it is commonly used in coconut cocktails, it is available in both cans and convenient squeeze bottles.

What Is In A Puerto Rican Pina Colada

When it comes to the pia colada, its important to remember that the famous tropical cocktail was originated in Puerto Rico! The delectable concoction of coconut cream, pineapple juice, white rum, and ice was invented in San Juan, but the identity of the person who invented it is still a source of contention on the island today.

    How To Make It

    Blended Tequila Pina Colada

The combination of the frozen pineapple chunks and the creamy coconut milk gives it the perfect texture. Here’s what you’ll need to make it:

    • Coconut milk – look for unsweetened canned coconut milk. The main ingredients should be water and coconut, the fewer other ingredients the better.
    • Frozen pineapple – this is easy to find already peeled, cored, and cut into chunks in the frozen fruit section of your grocery store. It’s frozen at the peak of freshness so it will have the closest to just-picked flavor.
    • Rum – use white rum for a classic cocktail, dark rum for more rum flavor, or a coconut rum, like Malibu, to amp up the coconut flavor.

The best thing about frozen drinks is everything gets dumped in the blender. Just be sure to use a good quality blender that can blend ice so you get a perfectly smooth frozen drink. I have this one that has a button for frozen drinks so it’s super easy. A quick blitz and you’ve got a vacation in a glass!

    Do You Like Pina Coladas

The pina colada is a deceptively simple drink made with less than a handful of ingredients. Served either frozen or on the rocks, the traditional pina colada gets its flavor from cream of coconut, pineapple juice and white rum. The simplest way to make a pina colada is to fill a glass with ice and then fill it with equal parts of the three ingredients — just blend the contents on low for 10 to 15 seconds for a frozen one.

What Do I Serve With Pia Coladas

How Strong Is A Coco Margarita

Mezcal and Tequila Piña Colada | The “Hey Mambo”

The coco margarita is one of the lightest shaken margaritas you can mix up because tequila is the only liquor in the recipe. Though it will vary slightly, this drink should have an alcohol content around 13 percent ABV . That’s comparable to a glass of wine, only the margarita is far more delicious.

    Fancy A Flavored Vodka

    Easy frozen pina colada recipe

Flavored vodkas open up a whole new world of pina coladas. Coconut- or pineapple-flavored vodka lets you cut back on the other ingredients. Vanilla vodka or whipped cream vodka gives the drink a creamier taste, while banana-flavored vodka makes it more tropical. Fruit-flavored vodkas, such as orange, mango or tangerine, tend to work best with the drink’s other flavors, but don’t be afraid to experiment with other sweet vodkas like chocolate, ginger and even maple syrup.

Nothing says tropical vacation like a frozen pina colada! I’ve been drinking them and making them at home for years. And I have to say I’m a pina colada purist. I hate the taste of the premade pina colada mix that you get in a lot of bars and restaurants. They’re full of chemicals and high-fructose corn syrup. And they just taste fake.

If you’ve ever been to the Caribbean, you know what a good pina colada made from real tropical fruit tastes like. And because the drink is so simple, it takes just two ingredients to make a homemade pina colada that tastes fantastic.

Luckily you don’t need to crack open a coconut or peel and core a whole pineapple. All you need is coconut milk and frozen pineapple chunks. That’s it!

    Recipe Notes And Tips

    • Since this recipe calls for canned coconut milk I suggest using a little bit of the coconut cream at the top of the can and the milk at the bottom.
    • For a smooth consistency and not coconut milk lumps, place the pineapple juice and coconut milk in a blender and blend quickly until smooth.
    • To make this drink super summery I recommend garnishing the glass with a fresh pineapple wedge.
    • If youd prefer salt then you can use coarse salt and lime zest to rim the glass or leave it off entirely.
