How To Make Jalapeno Infused Vodka
Jalapeno-infused vodka is super easy and adds a great spicy flavor to any drink, especially this Spicy Bloody Mary.
To make the Infused Vodka, add 1 cup of vodka to a jar with a lid like a mason jar. Clean a jalapeno very thoroughly, slice into rings, and add to the vodka. Soak for 8 hours to 1 week in the refrigerator. The longer the pepper sits in the liquid, the stronger the flavor will be. Strain the vodka through a strainer and store in the fridge until ready to serve.
You can half, double, or even tripled this recipe based on how much flavored vodka you want/need. If you are worried about having too much spice, start with a few jalapeno slices and taste it after a few hours. Add additional jalapenos until you get the desired spice and remove the pieces.
Chopin Family Reserve Potato
Every sip of Chopin Family Reserve Vodka delivers a smooth, earthy, and fruity taste that excites the palate. A product of Poland, Chopin Family Reserve is crafted from 100% small-batch handcrafted potatoes giving it its incredibly rich yet delicate flavour. The spirit is then left undisturbed in fifty-year-old Polish oak barrels for two years to allow time for it to rest and mellow before being bottled, by hand.
Even though the vodka is delightful on its own, it really shines when mixed into a Bloody Mary. The fresh and light taste makes this vodka the perfect complement to the bombastic Bloody Mary ingredients, giving you a cocktail that is distinct and delicious.

A Brief History Of The Bloody Mary
The bloody Mary is a relatively recent invention, having been around since the 1920s. It is often believed that Fernand Petiot, a New York bartender who worked in the ’20s, invented the cocktail in his tavern in the Big Apple.
According to legend, Petiot was the one who gave the drink its name. Additional evidence, on the other hand, suggests that he was just “spicing up” a tomato juice and vodka mix that was already well-known.
George Jessel, a Hollywood star from the 1920s through the 1950s, is the original originator of this iconic combination. Bloody Mary was allegedly the moniker he gave it.
When his companion Mary Brown entered the room, he was reportedly trying the tomato juice/vodka mix. As she took a sip, she unintentionally spilled the crimson drink over her white clothing. Her response was “Now, George, you may call me bloody Mary!”

Chase Oak Smoked Vodka
Some spirits enthusiasts prefer to avoid vodka because of its signature neutrality, instead opting for liquors with more inherent flavor. If you fall into that category but still consider vodka a good match for a Bloody Mary, then a smoked version occupies a useful middle ground. Chase Oak Smoked Vodka was made for Bloody Marys and gives your Bloody Mary an extra touch of smoke, but it also perfectly balances any of your Bloody Mary mixes while adding a subtle woody character to your drink, insists bartender Piero Procida of The London West Hollywood in Los Angeles, California.

How To Make The Perfect Bloody Mary
A bloody Mary has a longer list of ingredients than many cocktails which means its pretty susceptible to changes and interpretations. The original recipe called for only vodka and tomato juice, with some spice being added later.
The recipe has been altered a little over the years and today, most make it with the following base ingredients:
Common garnishes/additives include celery, lemon, shrimp, and sometimes bacon. Some may also include ingredients like horseradish, celery salt, or cream sherry, to name a few.
Once youve decided on your ingredients, the process is as follows:
Many sweet and fruity cocktails are meant for evening consumption, either with dinner or after. The bloody Mary, on the other hand, is often had in the afternoon, with lunch or sometimes as an appetizer.
Bloody Mary Cocktail Base Mix
The base mix for a Spicy Bloody Mary is tomato juice and vodka. From there, you can add just about anything . Some standard ingredients include:
- Salt and Pepper
For the tomato juice, you can purchase a premade mix or make your own . I usually start with a tomato juice like V8 or R.W. Knudsen something with just tomato juice and no additional seasoning. I want to flavor it myself.
I really love olives and veggies in my cocktail with lots of horseradish and hot sauce. You can adjust the flavors to your taste. If you do not like foods overly spicy, start small and add more to reach the desired hit. Its easier to add more, but hard to take it away.
To prepare the base mix, combine, horseradish, lemon or lime juice, olive juice, pickle juice, Worcestershire sauce, and hot sauce with the tomato juice. Mix all the ingredients in a large jug and place in the refrigerator. The juice will last in the fridge for 1-2 days.

Though Baker says he definitely stays away from expensive vodkas for Bloody Marys, because the ingredients can smother the spirit, no mixologist can resist using Absolut Elyx for any drink. As Tony Abou-Ganim, mixologist and author of Vodka Distilled, points out, this Swedish splurge has a brightness that elevates the grain in it, as well as any flavors its paired or blended with: pickled herring, strong cheeses, and, yes, the horseradish, tomato juice, and Worcestershire in a classic Bloody Mary.

This Oregon potato vodka is infused with the brunch-friendly flavor of bacon. Launched back in 2009, it is, in fact, the worlds first-ever bacon vodka, and it fits Bakers criteria for mixing into a Bloody Mary.

Bakons smokey, meaty, slightly sweet flavor is appropriate for a cocktail that should taste like a meal in a glass. Garnish the drink with a blue cheesestuffed olive.

Bowmore 12 Year Old Scotch Whisky And Absolut Peppar Vodka
When mixing up a Bloody Mary, Anthony Caporale, the Director of Spirits Education at the Institute of Culinary Education in New York City likes to blend together two very different styles of liquor: aged Scotch and pepper vodka. My go-to liquor base is equal parts Bowmore 12 Year Old Scotch Whisky and Absolut Peppar Vodka, usually one ounce each. I like the heat and heritage the vodka brings, and the smoke and malt from the Islay Scotch perfectly complements the meaty garnishes I prefer, Caporale tells us.
