For The Pineapple Jalapeno Margaritas

  • 6 chunks fresh Pineapple
  • 2-3 fresh Jalapeno Slices
  • 1/4 tsp. Chili Powder
  • 1/4 tsp. freshly cracked Black Pepper

I like to use fresh pineapple AND pineapple juice in these cocktails, because I think they contribute to this pineapple jalapeno margarita on the rocks in a unique way. The sweetness of the fresh pineapple is incredible, but it takes a ton of fresh pineapple to produce enough juice for two cocktails. So, we have the best of both worlds here: some fresh pineapple flavor, and lots of pineapple juice.

The number of jalapeno slices that you use in this cocktail are honestly up to you I like the sweet spot of 2-3 . If you REALLY love heat, you can definitely add more as you see fit. I do recommend starting with less than you think, because once the heat from the jalapeno peppers is in this drink, you cant take it out.

Exactly How Hot Is A Jalapeno Pepper

Good question! The jalapeño pepper is a medium spicy pepper. The heat rating is 2,500 to 8,000 Scoville heat units . That doesnt mean a lot unless you know the ratings for more hot peppers, so heres where it stacks up against other types of peppers:

  • Green pepper: No spice
  • Ghost pepper: Outrageously hot

Into the shaker, mix simple syrup and 2 jalapeños. Muddle it up with a muddler or the bottom of a spoon if you dont have one. This will release that spicy flavor we want!

Fill the shaker with ice. Then, add juice from 1 lime, Grand Marnier, Tequila, & Pineapple Juice. Shake it up!

Pour remaining lime juice onto a plate and sprinkle Tajin on another plate. Roll the rim of the cocktail glasses in the lime juice, then in the Tajin. Carefully fill the glass half way with ice.

Now, pour your cocktail over the ice. Top with a slice of fresh jalapeño & a pineapple wedge and enjoy this flavorful spicy little Margarita.

Frequently Asked Questions About The Recipe:

On The Rocks Jalapeno Pineapple Margarita Ready

Can I use fresh pineapple juice in Margaritas?

A canned pineapple juice like Dole is easier to work with because of the amount of pulp associated with the fresh pineapple. If you want to use fresh pineapple juice, be sure to strain out all of the pulp or it will get stuck in the shaker lid and not allow the drink to pour properly.

What liquor goes well with Pineapple?

Tequila, Vodka, and Rum all pair perfectly with Pineapple. Most margarita recipes use Tequila.

Is a Pineapple Jalapeno margarita really spicy?

Depending on how hot your jalapeños are will depend on the heat. If you don’t like really spicy, consider removing the seeds from the jalapeños. Be sure to wash your hands well after to get all the oils off.

Can I make this margarita frozen instead of on the rocks?

Absolutely! Don’t blend in the actual jalapeños, but instead, muddle the simple syrup with the jalapeños. Remove the jalapeños and pour the simple syrup into the blender along with the tequila, grand marnier, pineapple juice, lime, and 1 cup of ice. Add more ice if needed.

If youre looking for a grilled pineapple and jalapeno margarita, this is a great recipe for that. BUT, its one of my cocktail recipes that requires a special syrup and resting time for the grilled pineapple. I grill the pineapple and jalapeno, then chill them for 30 minutes before blending them together to create a spicy pineapple syrup. Its so good, but just be aware that its not a quick fix if youre needing a cocktail right away.

Jalapeo Peppers Vary In Heat Level

How to Make the Spicy Pineapple Jalapeño Margarita! #margarita #recipevideo

Keep in mind with this pineapple jalapeno margarita: jalapeño peppers vary in heat level! That means that each time you make the drink, it can vary in spiciness. Here are a few notes on customizing to your tastes:

    • 3 to 4 thin jalapeno pepper slices make a medium spicy drink. That means that you can add more for a very hot drink, or use less for mild heat.
    • Remove the seeds to lessen the heat. You can also remove the jalapeno seeds before you add them to the cocktail shaker. This takes down the heat even more. Note that some peppers have areas without a lot of seeds: so if you do want the seeds, you may want to cut more slices and use slices that have more seeds.

Faqs And Tips For Making Pineapple Margaritas

What type of tequila is best for pineapple margaritas?

Just use a tequila that you like to drink. Make sure it is pure agave tequila and not mixto which is not always gluten-free. Some brands I enjoy drinking are Casamigos, Espolòn, Casa Noble, and 1800 Tequila.

Do I have to use a margarita glass to make margaritas?

No, you dont. I personally just use an old-fashioned glass instead of a margarita glass.

What type of salt is best for rimming your cocktail glass?

I like to use kosher salt for the salt rim because the granules are larger and I love the texture. Coarse sea salt is another good option. I dont like to use table salt because the particles are too fine and much too salty. You could also use a sugar rim if you prefer!

Cinco de Mayo, TGIF, kicking back on a relaxing summer daythese are just a few thoughts that come to mind when we think about mixing up a batch of margaritas. While you cant go wrong with the standard combination of sour mix, tequila, and orange liqueur, there are plenty of ways to take this classic cocktail to a whole new level.

Lets start with the base ingredient: sour mix. Store-bought sour mix works in a pinch, but when you want to pull out all the stops, homemade sour mix is the way to go, and well worth the advance planning. Its super easy to make, and can be done ahead of time.

Making your own sour mix also means you can get creative with the overall flavor of your margarita, infusing it with fresh herbs, spices, or even swapping out some of the lime juice for something more special-event worthy, like blood oranges.

In this version, we stayed true with lime juice, but jazzed things up by infusing the sour mix with fresh jalapeños. The mix can be prepared up to one week in advance, then stored in a tightly sealed jar in the fridge .

Instead of the usual salty rimmed glasses, a combination of sugar, salt, and smoked paprika ensures your margarita stands out among a sea of overcrowded cocktails. Chile pepper can be substituted for an extra kick.

    Are Margaritas Gluten

Tequila is made from the agave plant and is naturally gluten-free. There are some cheaper brands of tequila that are mixto meaning that they are mixed with other alcohols and may not be gluten-free. Make sure that your tequila contains 100% agave to be sure its gluten-free .

Triple sec is a liquer distilled from orange peels and is gluten-free. I typically use Cointreau in my margaritas. However, if Im in a pinch, Ill also use Grand Marnier, which is a combination of triple sec and cognac.

If youre out and about at restaurants, the most concerning part about the question Are Margaritas Gluten-Free is if the restaurant or bar uses margarita mix. Often times, these margarita mixes do contain gluten and thats something youll want to be aware of.

I am not particularly a fan of margarita mixes in general and much prefer a basic margarita that contains tequila, triple sec, lime juice, and fruit juice if Im going for a flavored margarita
