1800 coconut tequila review

For example, if coconut pairs well with a flavor in a recipe, it might pair well in a cocktail, too. 1800 Tequila has created several cocktails using their 1800 Coconut Tequila. Overall, these cocktails are simple, straightforward. Truthfully, one is just the tequila and pineapple juice. 1800 Coconut Crusher, photo provided by 1800 Tequila.

Casamigos Reposado Tequila, agave nectar & freshly muddled limes. Served on the rocks in a chilled mug. Coco Loco Margarita. 1800 Coconut Flavored Tequila, fresh squeezed lime juice, agave nectar and pineapple juice. Celebrate this tropical margarita rimmed with toasted coconut! Capture the island spirit! Margarita MINi flight

Combine: Pour the 1 cup of lime juice into a 4-cup liquid measure. Add 1 cup tequila. Add 3/4 cup each Grand Marnier and simple syrup. Stir to combine. Pour salt onto a shallow plate. Rim the edge of 4 glasses with a lime wedge then dip each into the salt. Fill each glass with ice. Pour margarita mixture into each glass.

The Best Summer Cocktail. Perhaps its summer, perhaps its the love of the citrusy lime-flavor, or perhaps its the overall fresh taste, but a margarita is one of my favorite cocktails. This coconut margarita with strong hints of pineapple is a sweet twist on a classic cocktail.

Alternatives To 1800 Tequila

1800 is not a bad Tequila, but I wouldnt call it anything special either. Its fine for a night out on the town, or in a cocktail or two if thats whats on the menu, but there are many alternatives that are higher quality for similar prices. Ill introduce a few of those brands below.

First off, I have to mention Patron. Owned by Bacardi, Patron is probably the second most widely recognized name in Tequila . Bottled at 40% ABV, Patron is similar to 1800 in many other ways as well. First off, both are marketed as top-shelf Tequilas, both are at least partially made using diffuser methods, and both are surpassed in quality by lesser-known and less expensive brands. As with 1800, you could do a lot worse than drinking Patron in your margarita, and at many bars Patron or 1800 may simply be the best available option for Tequila. However, there are better buys for your home bar if youre willing to search for them.

  • Espolon

Espolon is one of those better buys I mentioned earlier. Its usually priced a few dollars cheaper than Patron or 1800, yet is not made using a diffuser and is similar or even superior in quality. Espolon is made with 100% Blue Weber Agave. It is owned by the Campari Group, bottled at 40% ABV from NOM 1440 in Los Altos, Jalisco, and available in Blanco, Reposado, Anejo, and Anejo X bottles.

  • Olmeca Altos

What Are The Different Types Of Tequila

There are several different kinds of Tequila, and most are categorized according to how long theyre aged. The three main types of Tequila are silver or Blanco, Reposado, and Añejo. In 2006, a new category called was created. Here is a breakdown on how long each style is aged:

  • Blanco or can be bottled immediately or aged up to two months.
  • Reposado Tequila is aged for two to 12 months in an oak container, giving it time to turn a pale golden color.
  • Añejo Tequila spends one to three years in an oak barrel similar to the ones used for aging whiskey or wine. It gets smoother, darker and the taste is sweeter thanks to the barrel.
  • Extra Añejo Tequila is barrel-aged for more than three years. The spirit becomes a dark amber color, and the flavor is rich with nuts, caramel, fruit, and spice, similar to whiskey or an old rum.

1800 Tequila was introduced in 1975 as a premium variant of the Jose Cuervo line.

The 1800 number takes after the year 1800 the year wherein tequila was first successfully aged in wood casks.

In order to distinguish the brand from its mass-market Jose Cuervo relative, 1800 Tequila displays a unique trapezoid-looking bottle and a top designed as a shot glass. The company claims that the design is a homage to the Mayan pyramids throughout Mexico.

In relation to this, since 2008, 1800 Tequila taps artists to create graphic designs for the 1800 bottles, while retaining the telltale trapezoidal housing. Known as the Essential Artists series, 1,800 of these 1800 Tequila bottles are produced each year.

Since the 1800 Añejo is considered a standard for tequila, what better way to commemorate its lofty perch than making it as the foundation for the Gold Standard cocktail.

The Gold Standard normally calls for rum as a primary building block, but the 1800 Añejos secondary sweet profile also makes it ideal for the drink.

Some Popular Tequila Brands

Don Julio

Don Julio was created in 1942, and he was only 17 years old then, but he changed the standards of tequila making when he used blue weber agave. High-quality fruits have a good price. This brand also uses aging reposado and añejo inside American white oak casks to influence its flavor, aromas, and character. They have high-quality reposado and Anejo, both at a reasonable price.

Patron

This is known as an ultra-premium tequila and is an Añejo tequila with a high price attached to it. The price is reasonable as this premium brand ensures that all the perfect blue agave are used for their tequila. They search from all over the region just to pick the best selection.

But beyond that high price tag is an environmentally concerned manufacturer. They are serving the best tequilas, Añejo, in perfection without destroying the earth.

Heres a closer look on the differences between Don Julio and Patron Tequila.

1800

1800 tequila is actually a smart name if you know the reason behind it. Its name was from the year 1800, the year when tequila was first aged in wood casks. The same company owns 1800 tequila like Jose Cuervo, and they both belong in the standard price category. It offers premium tequila taste, yet 1800 has an affordable price. 1800 tequila also has a trapezoid-shaped bottle and a top that works as a shot glass.

Aejo Vs The Competition

  • Casamigos Añejo
  • Don Julio Añejo
  • Patron Añejo

The añejos of 1800 and Casamigos are in a dead heat for a tequila drinkers favor.

Both have varying fruits, confectioneries and spices in their respective palates, with the Casamigos displaying bits of custard, oak, sweet vanilla, citrus, papaya, mango, toffee penny and dark chocolate. What could make 1800 Añejo win over fans could be the finish, as the Casamigos Añejo exhibits a slight burn of a finish in the gullet.

When ranged against Patron añejo, what could tip eyes, mouths and preferences towards the 1800 añejois consistency of flavor.

In the Patron añejo, vanilla, raisins and oak wood are present in the taste, but they do not try to compete with the lead peppery rush of agave. Patron goes down the throat smoothly too, aided by dints of caramel and ever-so-slight white oak smokiness.

However, this taste and finish range from bottle to bottle. Much like the 1800 Tequila | The Ultimate Margarita, Patrons añejois a love-hate affair. Some claim that the Patrons añejotaste is rather synthetic, while others claim that the sweet-and-pepper combo in the palate is very much the real thing.

The añejos Don Julio and 1800 seem like they are evenly matched, but it is in the consistency of taste AND smoky presence that makes the Don Julio version the preferred one.
