How Many Carbs In Knob Creek Whiskey

Flavored Bourbon = Bad Idea

How Much Does Water ACTUALLY Change Whiskey? | Water vs. Knob Creek Single Barrel BLIND COMPARISON

To start, steer clear of any flavored bourbon you may see in your local liquor store. Flavored bourbons sound good in theory, especially when the flavor compliments the flavor of the drink.

Some flavored bourbons contain lots of added ingredients, along with the one ingredient you are trying to steer clear of sugar.

Keto Bourbon Peach Cocktail

Our Keto Bourbon Peach Cocktail is a fruity and fun summer Keto drink. It is so refreshing and so easy to make. Our version is similar to a smash in that it contains ingredients that are commonly muddled in preparing the cocktail. We also top it with the fizz of club soda. You could use diet ginger ale or diet ginger beer, as well. That is also typical with a smash cocktail. Just remember that the smash refers to the muddling technique and not the result of having too many of these cocktails!

However, instead of muddling fresh mint and fresh peaches, we use Torani Sugar Free Peach Syrup and just one drop of mint extract. With that touch of mint infused in the cocktail you will be reminded of our delicious Mint Julep recipe. Of course, if you prefer fresh mint and fresh mulled peaches, go for it. The peaches will add carbs whereas the Torani Peach syrup would have none.

Knob Creek Bourbon Portfolio

Low Carb Cork: Low Carb Cocktails: Whiskey Sour

Youll find that Knob Creek offers several distinct bourbons. Heres a quick review of some of the more popular offerings in the Knob Creek portfolio.

This traditional Kentucky bourbon whiskey has a floral rye influence. It is light and smells of maple, potato, oak, corn husks, and a little banana. Youll notice a yeasty aroma, which is common for bourbons.

The Knob Creek Straight Bourbon Whiskey has a sweet smell, with plenty of stone fruits. Youll notice a hint of peaches and cherries, as well as a bit of vanilla if you let allow it to sit for a moment or two.

Once you take a taste of this Knob Creek bourbon, youll notice plenty of flavors. To begin youll notice corn, with peaches, cherries, and apples, following. Spices and oak finish up this tasty bourbon.

This 50% ABV is about right for this bourbon, and the palate offers some movement but is controlled, which many drinkers will enjoy. The Knob Creek Straight Bourbon Whiskey is easy to drink due to the way it balances the spiciness with the sweet. It offers solid complexity with a good body.

Finishing up youll notice light smoke with some corn layered on top of a note of oak. It has decent length, ending on a taste of peaches and apple seeds. It sweet and enjoyable, the perfect bourbon for mixing.

One of the great things about this whiskey is that adding a little water wont impact how robust it is. When you do, more flavors start to emerge.

But Which One Is Best

Of course, the answer to this question depends entirely on your tastes. Makers Mark is a great bourbon if you are looking for a sipping bourbon thats not going to cost you an arm and a leg. Knob Creek, on the other hand, it great if you want a flavorful bourbon that goes down smooth when you want to sit on your porch and watch the world go by.

If you prefer to mix your bourbon with another drink either label has an option that will work. As I mentioned with Knob Creek, its Smoked Maple bourbon is great with sweet tea. Makers Mark has its Cask Strength offering which is perfect in a glass of cold Coca-Cola.

For my money, Im going with Knob Creek. Its smooth, sweet, and has several options if you prefer a bourbon thats not as rich. Its flavorful, which makes it quite addicting and hard to put down. Theres a lot to love with Knob Creek, which is why Im choosing it over Makers Mark.

Beware: Alcohol Packs More Punch On Low Carb

When on a strict low-carb diet, many people require significantly less alcohol to become intoxicated.12 So be careful the first time you drink alcohol on low carb. You may need only half as many drinks as usual to enjoy yourself, saving you money and from a hangover.

Recognizing this issue of reduced tolerance is even more critical if you plan on driving. When eating low carb, you may have a higher blood alcohol level after fewer drinks, impairing your abilities to a much greater extent than usual.

Knob Creek Smoked Maple Bourbon Review

Knob Creek Smoked Maple Bourbon

Knob Creek holds a special place in my heart and on my palate, perhaps more so than any other whiskey. As I shifted from my younger era of the-cheaper-the-better whiskey drinking, dominated by a certain fella named Jim, Knob Creek was what first captured my attention as the good stuff, and at the same time, it wasnt priced out of reach, either.

Since then, Ive continued to be a frequenter of all things Knob Creek, and so I was quite excited to get my hands on the just released Knob Creek Smoked Maple.

The BourbonCan one of the most trusted names in bourbon produce a flavored expression while retaining the original qualities which set it apart from the crowd to begin with? Thats the issue at hand here, so lets see what we have.

On the nose you get maple, brown sugar and a charred molasses, as well as honey and a touch of spice. Take a sip and notice an almost creamy, viscous mouthfeel, with strong maple flavors which are offset a touch by hints of smoke and oak. The finish is short, just a bit sharp and warm, with a soothing honey sweetness as the taste of maple syrup remains on your lips.

Its fall in a glass. Close your eyes, and watch the red and orange leaves meander gently to the ground, swaying in the wind, football on the television, chili on the stove.

Review: Knob Creek Smoked Maple Whiskey

Knob Creek Small Batch Bourbon – Whiskey Review #10

Its clear that Jim Beam is making a fairly sizable bet that maple flavored whiskey is going to be hot as they introduce two new and distinct maple flavored whiskeys. The first, Jim Beam Maple, is a sweet liqueur where the maple is clearly the star and the base spirit really more of a supporting character. The second, Knob Creek Smoked Maple, is a decidedly different approach to maple flavored whiskey: instead of having the maple flavor be the star, its dialed back, combined with some smoke, and delivered as a complement to the base whiskey.

Knob Creek Smoked Maple Whiskey from the first whiff of the nose, its clear that this is a maple whiskey unlike the Jim Beam Maple, you dont have to do much digging to get to the other aromas in the glass. Right there along side maple is charred oak, vanilla, light smoke, and marzipan. While Jim Beam Maple smells a lot like alcoholic maple syrup, Knob Creek Smoked Maple smells more like a whiskey that has maple in it. The maple here is also far less syrupy, and when combined with the oak and smoke reminds us of well done, thick cut maple bacon. Knob Creek Smoked Maple is offered at 90 proof which is 5% ABV stronger than standard Jim Beam White Label and a full 10% ABV stronger than Jim Beam Maple. This higher proof is apparent on the nose, which has some nice edges to it that balance out the sweeter notes.

What Is A Bourbon Old Fashioned

A bourbon old fashioned is a very simple alcoholic beverage. The ingredients are very simple: bourbon, water, sweetener, bitters, and ice. Often, a slice of orange or orange peel is used to garnish the drink.

The Old Fashioned was considered a morning drink and was originally referred to as the whisky cocktail. Considered the first classic cocktail, the name change occurred when bartenders tried to improve on the original with absinthe, orange liqueurs and other ingredients.

This led customers to request the old fashioned version. The renaming is said to have occurred at the Pendennis Club in Louisville, Kentucky, where the Old Fashioned remains that citys official cocktail.

Adding orange and cherry bitters to the equation happened during Prohibition, presumably as a way of masking the whisky smell. For this reason, some purists dont bother with the fruit element.

Named After A Little Creek Knob Creek Is Made Just In Small Batches

When Master Distiller Booker Noe fathered the small batch movement over two decades ago, he created Knob Creek to restore the standards of pre-prohibition bourbon. The result is an undeniably big, full flavour that strikes your senses with a maple sugar aroma and a distinctive sweetness. Aged in only the deepest charred American Oak barrels to fully draw out the natural sugars, it is then bottled at an honest 100 proof to embody the big, full flavour that has made Kentucky famous for bourbon.

Spirits: How Many Carbs

Keto Bourbon Peach Cocktail

Whiskey, vodka, brandy, gin, tequila and other pure alcohols have zero carbs and so are fine on a low-carb diet. A standard 1.5 oz jigger of these spirits, without any mixer, contains on average about 100 calories.

Dont add juice, soft drinks, or other sweeteners like sweet cream. Adding tonic to zero-carb gin boosts its carbs to 16 grams and 190 calories per serving! Instead, have vodka, soda water, and lime for a no-carb, lower-calorie summer drink.

Alternatively, if you insist, use diet tonic for a zero-carb gin & tonic, though we generally recommend to avoid sweeteners.11

Think vodka and orange juice is a healthy choice? That gives you a whopping 28 grams of carbs and 175 calories almost as bad as a rum & coke with 39 grams of carbs and 185 calories.

The Taste Of Rye Whiskey

Historically, rye whiskey has been really popular. That said, there was then a point when the spirit went down on the charts, although its making a comeback these days.

The rye grain creates a pretty distinct flavor. It offers a spicy and peppery flavor when it comes to the palate and finishes. Some people compare rye whiskey to a hard-edged version of bourbon that is grainy and not as sweet, whereas bourbon is typically sweeter and more full-bodied. Other people have compared scotch to bourbon to rye, although they are all unique in their own ways.

Others say that the peppery spice that rye whiskey brings to the table is extra warming. With summer just around the corner, there is no better time than now to speed up the process that makes us feel warm. Who needs the sun when you have rye whiskey, anyways? Better yet, who needs the sun when you can have a RyeNGosling instead?

Ever heard of a whiskey sour? A Manhattan? Or even an Old Fashioned? These are all traditionally made with rye whiskey and boy, are we forever thankful for these cocktails. They make it ten times easier to order a drink when youre out with friends, have no idea what you want, but still want to sound like you know exactly what youre talking about when it comes to cocktails.

What Are Orange Bitters

Orange bitters is a form of bitters, a cocktail flavoring made from the peels of Seville oranges, cardamom, caraway seed, coriander and burnt sugar in an alcohol base.

You might often see orange bitters and angostura bitters used together, or interchangeably. However, the two shouldnt be confused as they are different from one another.

Some recipes for old fashioned call for angostura bitters instead of orange.

For a long time, orange bitters were very hard to get in the United States, so some drinks that used them traditionally now exclude them.

How Many Calories Are In A Shot Of Whiskey

Mike The Whisky Writer23

If you are like me, you never really considered the calorie count of a shot of whiskey while sitting at the bar. Just keep em coming is the motto. But did you know that whiskey is actually pretty heavy when it comes to the calorie count?

The average 1.5oz shot of whiskey is around 105 calories for 86 proof.

Now thats quite a bit if you are watching the waistline during the day with a diet but you could be killing it if you end the day with just a few shots.

One positive is that whisky is low in carbs.

What Is A Rye Whiskey

Many people throw the term rye whiskey around pretty loosely, and many fail to recognize that rye whiskey is actually a pretty specific spirit. Often people use the terms rye whiskey and whiskey interchangeably, but these spirits are differentiated by location and ingredientsand theyre both worth knowing about.

Rye whiskey refers to two different types of whiskey: American rye whiskey and Canadian whiskey . American rye whiskey is indeed a rye whiskey, and many compare it to bourbon. Canadian whiskey, on the other hand, is a bit complicated. This is not to say that other countries dont make rye whiskeys, as they do and some have won awards at spirit competitions worldwide.

As a battle with our upstairs neighbors, Canadian whiskey is often referred to as rye whiskey. However, despite the name, we want to clarify that not all Canadian whiskey includes rye grain in its production process. This is a big difference between the two. They claim its for historical reasons, whatever those might be.

In contrast, whiskey is a more general term. Whiskey can refer to various types of spirits, including Japanese whisky and Irish whiskey . Whiskies utilize different grains such as corn or malt, whereas rye whiskey uses rye grain, specifically.
