Working Backwards To Reach The Top
This is a vodka that was actually produced in reverse: the brand name and identity were created long before the first batch had even been distilled. American businessman, Sidney Frank, was the man behind the brand who decided to launch a new bottle of vodka for a premium audience. It might have launched in 1997, but Grey Goose still refuses to be overtaken when it comes to top-of-the-range vodka.
With a premium taste and aroma comes an equally premium production process. Grey Goose is made using wheat for a softer, smoother vodka compared to other fermented grains. All of its flavoured vodkas use real fruit rather than artificial flavours and even the fruits are picked in France. The exceptions, of course, are Grey Gooses LOrange vodka, which takes oranges from Florida and Grey Gooses La Vanille, which uses Madagascan vanilla beans. But well let them off on those two minor exceptions.
The only other exception to the Frenchness of Grey Goose is the brands name. Grey Goose comes from the name of a German white wine, but Frank found that his customers resonated with the name and so stuck with it.
What Other Alcohol Has No Sugar Or Carbohydrates
Aside from vodka, youll be happy to hear that many other hard liquors have no sugar or carbohydrates. This includes whiskey, gin, rum, tequila, and brandy. But once you start mixing these with other sugary drinks, then youre significantly increasing the carb count.
A lot of people will mix their alcohol with diet sodas. This is a great option to keep the sugar content low.
Best Pairings With Grey Goose Vodka
You could certainly consider enjoying Grey Goose neat with an ice cream dessert, specifically a fruit sorbet. Otherwise, consider seafood dishes such as langoustine or even caviar. I wouldnt go for crab or lobster, though, as these are stronger in flavour. Langoustine is going to be a bit more refined and would pair better with a Grey Goose Vodka.
At Bespoke Unit were very fond of cigars. Therefore, weve considered a few as pairing suggestions. One of which is the Plasencia Reserva Original, which is made using organic tobaccos. It has some character, but a very smooth body, which would marry well with Grey Goose.
Alternatively, go for an Avo Classic, which is going to be much milder and somewhat affordable. But if you really want to try something a little bit more premium, that would be more in keeping with Grey Goose, why not a Davidoff Signature, but specifically the No. 2 Vitola?

Cheap Vodka Quality Taste
Despite these differences, the Kirkland-made-by-Grey Goose claims raise questions of how different luxury brands really are from their cheaper counterparts.
Grey Goose argues its investments and exclusive access to ingredients gives its brand a richer, deeper taste profile, according to McCanta.
Everyone has some type of perspective on Grey Goose it signifies something. But if you put six vodka glasses in front of people and ask them to taste for the best, theyre not always going to pick it, Abou-Ganim said.
That doesnt mean that Grey Goose isnt high quality, but that you have to go and do the work to decide whats the right taste for you, Abou-Ganim said. Its OK to like and use more than one type of vodka!
Kirkland Signature French Vodka is a popular drink among Costco shoppers, and has regularly topped Grey Goose in blind taste tests. The drinks production process remains largely a proprietary secret, but the difference may not matter as much given federal regulations.
For years, the Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms Code mandated that vodka must be distilled and treated until it is without distinctive character, aroma, taste or color.
Vodka is not about what you put in but what you take out before the final product, Abou-Ganim said. Really, the only way to learn more is to taste.

How Is Vodka Made From Potatoes
When youre at a party and people are discussing how different types of alcohol are made, its pretty likely that someone will ask how is vodka distilled?
Inevitably, some know-it-all will jump in to say that its made from potatoes, and thats your cue to set the record straight. Vodka can be made from potatoes, and there are a small percentage of companies that still do it this way. But, most of it is made from some other starchy or sugary plant, such as grain, corn, or wheat.
A lot of this mix up comes from where the vodka is made. Some regions dont have potatoes, but those thirsty people still want to distill something for a cocktail
So when the follow-up question of what alcohol is made from potatoes? comes up, you can save that know-it-alls ego a bit by saying very few, but some vodka brands.

Needless to say, Grey Goose is a crystal clear vodka with no sediment. It doesnt leave any residue if you were to rub it against your hands.
It is indeed a pure, nice vodka with just mineral water. It leaves somewhat surprisingly wide legs and a nice scallop against the side of the glass. They trickle down slower than you would expect. And in terms of depth, the clarity does give nice refraction of light.

How To Drink Grey Goose
Vodka might not be the first spirit you think of when it comes to sipping spirits neat but it would be a shame to add too many accompaniments when drinking Grey Goose. Vodka aficionados will tell you this is the only way to drink vodka anyway, so you might as well do it properly with a premium brand for best results.
Vodka is best served chilled, so put the bottle in the freezer for a couple of hours before serving. Small tumblers are customary for clear vodkas, so make sure your glass is equally as chilled before pouring in a small measure. Alternatively, you can use a shot glass but we still recommend sipping rather than throwing it back.
Swirl the Grey Goose in your glass and bring the glass up to your nose. Breathe in the aromas before taking a small sip and letting the vodka rest on your tongue. You should be able to taste delicate hints of pepper and more florals, but the overall effect should be smooth and relatively neutral.
The final thing to pay attention to is the aftertaste. A premium quality vodka like Grey Goose wont burn your throat it should feel smooth and warming rather than anything too aggressive.

How Much Alcohol Is In A Martini Cocktail
A vodka martini cocktail is a spirit-forward cocktail and the amount of alcohol in the cocktail depends on the ingredients you use and how you make your martini cocktail. Its prime ingredients are vodka and vermouth, both alcoholic spirits. Vodka has a standard alcohol concentration of 40% ABV. Vermouth has an ABV lower than vodka but higher than wine around 14% â 22%. The total amount of alcohol in a martini cocktail will depend on the proportion of vodka to vermouth. A drier martini cocktail will have a higher alcoholic content than a wetter martini cocktail of the same size. If youâre looking for a lower ABV option, maybe try the Long Martini Cocktail, a tall serve that includes ginger ale and ice.

Jger And Grey Goose Are Step Brothers
Sidney Frank, the same guy behind the Grey Goose concept, started his importing company in 1972. Among his first product successes? Jägermeister. It wasnt overnight, but Frank saw some promise in the stuff, and by the mid 80s, so did college kids. With a little help from a squadron of liquor ladies dubbed the Jägerettes, Frank brought us all the pleasure of knocking back shots of a rich, dark German liqueur in far too large a quantity.
Kirkland And Grey Goose May Use The Same Water Source
As Business Insider notes, Kirkland vodka frequently beats Grey Goose in blind taste tests in spite of retailing for much less money . Grey Goose, which is owned by Bacardi, has, naturally, denied that it also produces the Kirkland variety. A spokesperson for the company argued that their water source was carefully chosen for its purity and extraordinary quality, and no other vodka brands in the region have access, so it would seem impossible that Kirkland vodka could possibly be the same stuff. However, as Vice notes, both brands source their water from the Gensac Springs in Frances Cognac region.
To further distinguish their vodka, Grey Goose clarified that they also utilize the highest-certified wheat from three farming co-ops, which is milled using a proprietary method before distillation takes place around 800 kilometers from where Kirkland is distilled.

Does Flavored Vodka Have More Calories
Flavor-infused vodkas can make for a more delicious experience and may also eliminate the need for high-calorie mixers like cranberry or orange juice. Nowadays, you can find vodka infused with the natural or artificial flavor of just about anything.
Lemon, berry, coconut, watermelon, cucumber, vanilla, and cinnamon are popular options. There are also more exotic infusions including: bacon, whipped cream, ginger, mango, and even smoked salmon.
The best part is that most of the infused versions dont contain any extra calories other than plain vodka!
Be careful not to confuse flavor-infused vodka with vodka drinks made with flavored sugary syrups that are added after the fermentation and distilling process. These products often contain many more calories than an infused vodka.
Always read the labels carefully. If you cant find nutrition information on the product label, try searching the manufacturers website.
