Pilgrimage 2022 Lineup: Chris Stapleton Brandi Carlile Jon Batiste Avett Brothers & More
The festival returns on September 24 and 25 in Franklin, Tennessee.

Chris Stapleton, Brandi Carlile, Jon Batiste and The Avett Brothers top the Pilgrimage Music & Cultural Festival 2022 lineup. The annual festival heads back to The Park at Harlinsdale Farm in Franklin, Tennessee on September 24 and 25.
The lineup for the eighth edition of Pilgrimage also includes Trampled by Turtles, Dawes, Lake Street Dive, Molly Tuttle & Golden Highway, Elle King, Lennon Stella, Better Than Ezra, Marty Stuart, Celisse, Butch Walker, Black Joe Lewis, Adia Victoria, Yasmin Williams, Bones Owens, Brittney Spencer and Jensen McRae, among several others. The performances will take place across the festivals five stages.

As the hottest part of the day hit Franklins Park at Harlinsdale Farm on Saturday, Celisse and her crew of two cranked up the heat. Kicking off their set on the Midnight Sun stage with an original bluesy rock tune called Get There, they absolutely melted the crowd on the first day of Pilgrimage for 2022. A couple songs in, as amps emblazoned with Celisse Loves You roared behind her, the singer-songwriter-guitarist scanned the crowd for children, asking if this was the kind of festival where you could cuss. After some encouragement from the crowd, she said: This song is about being with somebody who is bullshit. As the power trio laid into Mistreated Me, it was hard not to feel like you loved Celisse, too.

As the sun set over the walking-horse-farm-turned-public-park, folks got settled in at Midnight Sun for headliner Brandi Carlile, who just played a phenomenal two-night run at Ascend Amphitheater in July. Similar to those shows, this one led off with a short, rollicking guitar medley from Carliles longtime co-conspirators, twin brothers Phil and Tim Hanseroth. Thus introduced, Carlile took the stage in a bright-yellow suit just a little bit David Byrne and a lot Marlene Dietrich and dove into Broken Horses, the perfect song for the venue.

Avett Brothers Brandi Carlile Bring Some Heat And Charm On Chilly Night At The Tuscaloosa Amp
for the third time since the venue opened in 2011,
The Avett Brothers
from North Carolina acted as though they quite enjoy the place and more so the people of the Druid City.
In fact, the band played that Amp debut and currently hold the title for having played the most times at the venue, a streak fans hope the alt-country rockers keep squarely intact in the very near-future.
Personally, I can’t call myself an Avett Brothers “fan,” not because I dislike their music. I just don’t have the familiarity with the catalog. I’ve previously attended two of their shows, one casually at their second Amp appearance in 2012 and then when I shot photos of their Sloss Fest show in Birmingham last summer.
On Thursday night, I got to pay much closer attention and really soak in their musical prowess, chemistry, strange presence and particularly the above-average singing voices of brothers Scott and Seth Avett, whose impressive range and harmonies stuck out more most all else for this newbie fan.
So before we get to their stripped-down, music-minded set, let’s look back on the rest of the evening at the Tuscaloosa Amphitheater, starting with opener and folk singer

A gorgeous sunset greeted fans through the train trestle as they entered the venue shortly after gates opened at 7 p.m. Thursday night. By then, it felt warm enough to trick us into thinking we didn’t need the coats we brought just in case it got chilly .

Two artists achieved a dream on Friday night by performing at one of the worlds most famous venues, Madison Square Garden in New York City. Both Brandi Carlile and The Avett Brothers took time during their sets to offer heartfelt thanks to the crowd for making their dream come true. Each act showed why they deserved the honor at The Garden last night.
Carlile kicked off the evening with an hour-long set that focused on material from 2015s The Firewatchers Daughter. The 34-year-old Carlile was in fine voice and backed by a superb band. She had the crowd in the palm of her band as Brandis energetic stage presence was on display throughout the set. Brandi and her band ended the set with a gorgeous cover of Led Zeppelins Going To California to the delight of the audience.

The Avett Brothers hit the MSG stage like a tornado. Seth and Scott Avett and the rest of their band ran around the stage and even through the floor at points of their set. The crowd ate up every minute of it and looking around it seemed as if everyone knew all the words to each song with the exception of the handful of new tunes The Avetts played. Early in their set, The Avett Brothers debuted a cover of Merle Haggards Mama Tried. Later in the evening they would perform My Favorite Memory, another song by the recently deceased country legend.

The latest live album was recorded at last years New Years Eve show in Raleigh and includes 2 new songs Satan Pulls the Strings and Rejects in the Attic. Pilgrimage Music & Cultural Festival Day 2
Brandi Carlile also came back in 2022 as the Saturday night headliner something that she was humbly grateful for and eluded to during her set.
Growing up as a gay country music kid in Seattle, Carlile said on stage Saturday, I didn’t want to go to Disneyland. I didn’t want to see the Grand Canyon. I wanted to come to Nashville.
She then reminisced about coming to Nashville and playing at 3rd and Lindsley.
You don’t think you’re gonna stand on a stage and look out and see what I’m seeing right now, she said.
Carlile, who was sporting a bright yellow suit, was flanked by guitarist and bassist twins, Phil and Tim Hanesroth, who were wearing identical outfits. The group made for an eclectic stage presence that had Harlinsdale singing in unison to such songs as The Story” and The Joke.
Carlile and her band also performed the song Woodstock written by Joni Mitchell, which seemed fitting in The Park at Harlinsdale Farm.
Stapleton and Carlile were icing on the cake to finish off a wonderful weekend of great weather, music, food and community.
“The weather this year was the best we’ve ever had, and the weekend included transcendent sets by Chris Stapleton, Brandi Carlile, Jon Batiste and The Avett Brothers,” festival co-producer W. Brandt Wood said. “The crowd was filled with families and folks who came early and stayed late. Our attendees mean the world to us, and we aim to continue bringing them an experience that keeps them coming back.”

MerleFest 2019 continued at Wilkes Community College in Wilkesboro, NC, on Saturday, and singer-songwriter Brandi Carile closed out the days offerings on the main stage with a powerful set that included a sit in from Avett Brothers leaders Scott and Seth Avett.
The trio came together around one microphone for an intimate rendition of the tune, which first appeared on the AvettsThe Second Gleam EP in 2008, before Carlile covered it for the closing track of her 2015 LP, The Firewatchers Daughter. Last night, each singer took a verse, with all three coming together in harmony for a portion of the song.
Carlile also welcomed Tania Elizabeth, the violinist in The Avett Brothers touring band, for a round of John Denvers Take Me Home, Country Roads as part of her MerleFest headlining set yesterday evening. Pilgrimage Music Festival Delights Over Perfect Weather Weekend
Thousands attended the two-day Pilgrimage Music and Cultural Festival over the weekend.
The memories of the rained out 2018 Pilgrimage Music and Cultural Festival were long forgotten after the conclusion of the most recent two-day Pilgrimage Festival, which featured perfect weather and the return of Chris Stapleton and Brandi Carlile both included on the lineup that year.
Stapleton closed out the weekend with a 22-song set highlighted by rocking Outlaw State of Mind” and finishing the set with hits like Broken Halos and the crowd favorite Tennessee Whiskey.
We came for Chris Stapleton but we enjoyed the entire festival, said Cindy Dorris, who works in Franklin and lives in Dickson. My husband and I have never been to Pilgrimage before.

Various artists are gearing up for a virtual show, ready to entertain fans via the internet on May 30 at 6 p.m. 9 p.m. Mountain Time. The artists featured at this event, include The Avett Brothers, Big Head Todd & The Monsters, Brandi Carlile, Dave Matthews, The Lumineers, Michael Franti, Nathaniel Rateliff, Rodrigo y Gabriela, Sam Bush, The String Cheese Incident and many more.
Coloradans have a history of coming together during times of crisis, and now more than ever, we are looking toward music and art to find comfort during this difficult time, said Governor Jared Polis. Colorados music industry and rich pool of talent is an important part of our culture, economy, and the Colorado way of life. I cant wait for the day when we can all return to one of Colorados excellent music venues to see our favorite bands play live again. But until then, Im excited that the state can partner with the Colorado Music Relief Fund in this effort.

Wood also surprised locals when he showed up on the Americana Music Triangle Experience stage wearing a neon blue and black matching outfit of the Tommy Jackson Dancers, who were set to clog in the tent.
Now in its sixth year, the AMTE is a dedicated space where attendees can have a diverse and intimate experience featuring the sounds that have resonated for decades throughout the Southeast.Performers included Williamson County residents Butch Walker, Texas Hill, The FBR, People on the Porch, Boo Ray and the Tommy Jackson Dancers, and from Nashville, bluegrass legends Hogslop String Band.

Avett Brothers Brandi Carlile Put On Perfectly Summery Sets

The Basilica Block Party is not for another couple weeks, but it sure felt like Minneapolis’ beeriest church bash arrived early and moved out to farm country for Saturday’s twofer concert by the Avett Brothers and Brandi Carlile at Somerset Amphitheater.
Both Basilica alumni the Avetts were even one of last year’s BBP headliners the pair of rootsy Americana performers already proved good fodder for summertime fun at the Basilica’s crowded, flat, downtown blacktop setting, what with their big singalong moments and generally warm, arms-around-your-sweetie vibes. So you can imagine how much cozier, friendlier and warmer the party felt on a spacious, hilly, ultra-green riverside field on a pink-skied, 70-degree evening at the refurbished amphitheater in Somerset, Wis.
“It don’t get any better than this,” Carlile said after her opening song, “Hard Way Home.”
Saturday’s Somerset crowd was only half as large as a Basilica party, with about 6,000 tickets sold, but Carlile and the Avetts played more to their faithful audiences there. In fact, Carlile seemed to have nearly as many fans rabidly devouring her set as did the headliners.
“You guys got a really nice place here,” Dr. Dog bassist/co-vocalist Toby Leaman commented, never-minding the fact that his band lost a gig last-minute last summer when the amphitheater’s SoundTown festival was abruptly canceled.

The mustached brothers, who alternated from banjo and guitar to piano and back throughout the set, looked like Daniel Day-Lewis fresh off the set of There Will Be Blood and were drenched with sweat after only a few songs.
The highlight of the high-energy set was a fantastic rendition of Salina, during which the venue fell silent as the brothers were accompanied only by piano, stand-up bass and the cello.
Co-headliner Brandi Carlile was a natural fit on the bill as the folky singer continues to spread her wings to bigger and better venues, having last played the House of Blues in Anaheim earlier this year. Her hourlong set featured tracks from both 2009s Give Up the Ghost and 2007s The Story, and kicked off with a slow and controlled version of Again Today with her vocals giving way to her trademark forceful soul on Looking Out.
Longtime Carlile fans werent left disappointed when the Washington singer-songwriter followed her personal tradition of singing Dying Day completely unplugged. In smaller venues its impressive but in the larger Nokia, it was downright mesmerizing.
Longtime drummer Allison Miller was absolutely stellar on the country rocking Dreams, and Carlile let it all fly when midway through The Story her biggest commercial hit to date she traded her acoustic guitar for a Telecaster.
Opener Grace Potter & the Nocturnals set the perfect tone in a short set that was reminiscent of early Heart and featured a high-octane Paris.
