What Types Of Gin Mix Well With Ginger Ale
Ginger ale is, to say the least, a drink for the acquired taste. Nowadays, there are many sorts of ginger ale on the market. Some are sweeter and more sugary, while others will be crisp and sharp.
Then, theres also the difference between ginger ale and ginger beer. The difference is actually quite simple. Ginger beer is way sharper, whereas ginger ale is a little smoother and sweeter. Ginger ale is more approachable, where ginger beer is a purer, denser version of it.
In either case, ginger ale will always be dominant in a drink, simply because of the sharpness that the ginger gives it. This is also the reason why I initially called it a drink for the acquired taste.
This sharpness, however, is also what makes ginger ale such a fantastic drink. With its sharp, fresh, and sweet taste, ginger ale makes for a fantastic drink, either on its own or as a mixer.
Ginger ale is quite a strong drink, so not every type of gin will be as great with it. With that being said, what types of gin actually mix well with ginger ale?
Ginger ale can be quite strong and sharp, so if you want to mix it with gin, make sure you use a gin that also has a sharp taste. The gin needs to be able to hold its own against the ginger ale, otherwise, you would not be able to taste it.
Another type of gin that goes well with ginger ale would of course be a ginger-infused gin. The ginger-infused gin will perfectly complement the taste of the ginger ale, making for a great combination.
What Is The Best Way To Drink Gin
Of course, you can always drink your gin straight. Some people will even tell you that its the best way to enjoy gin. Just pour the gin over a few ice cubes and drop in a lime wedge if you fancy. Naturally, to enjoy a spirit neat it must be of good quality theres nothing worse than nasty, bitter, cheap gin.

Best London Dry: Beefeater London Dry
Region: UK | ABV: 44% | Tasting Notes: Juniper, Lemon, Almond
There are many well-known brands that make the classic London dry-style of gin, but Beefeater is one of the best and most ubiquitous. While London dry gin does not have to actually be made in London , it does need to meet other requirements that govern the distillation process. In short, these gins need to be made from pure grain spirit, with no flavor or artificial additives added after distillation.
Beefeaters nine-botanical recipe includes juniper, Seville orange, orris, and lemon peel, creating an easy-sipping gin that works well in any cocktail.
What Kind Of Juice Is Used In Gin And Juice

Try absolutely anything that sounds good keeping in mind that if you’re going with the bare bones recipe there is no sweetness other than the juice. So unless you’re into super tart drinks you will want at least one juice that is sweet.
Think about using fruits that aren’t juiced very often like strawberry, cherry, or raspberry.
To get juice from fruits with little seeds like that you can mash them up with a fork or potato smasher, then squeeze the juice out with a fine strainer or cheese cloth.
NOTE:
The most classic are orange or pineapple juice sometimes combined with a sour citrus like lemon or lime.
The majority of recipes on the internet use some combination of citrus juice which is just about impossible to screw up. I like a combination of half orange and half any sour citrus if you are going the citrus route.
Clementine and tangerine are also AMAZING in drinks.
If you only want to use sour or tart juices go ahead and add some type of simple syrup to bring it back to balanced. Classic cane simple syrup would be good, but maple or honey syrup would be really nice with certain fruits too!
The only thing I would advise against here is using store bought juice. Fresh is better and it is not even that much extra work.

Changing Up The Recipe To Make More Delicious Drinks
A really lovely little tip I have for this drink if you want to make it sweeter is add some raspberry liqueur or fresh raspberry juice to the bottom of the glass with the blueberries. It really brings out an extra flavour and compliments the blueberries really well.
The lime helps to make both flavours blend but also stand on their own. Other options for flavours that work include strawberries with a dash of Aperol. Fresh pomegranate seeds with a little pomegranate juice is fresh and fruity.
A great summer alternative is also to add fresh watermelon chunks and juice. It works really well for a summer G& T.
Even before topping up with tonic the drink looks gorgeous. The bright white ice cubes mixed in with the squashed blueberries and mint glisten in the sunshine. Almost like its reaching out for the tonic to make it hole.
If you want to make these for a party you can make up a big batch of squashed up blueberries and mint add it to each glass. When youre ready to serve add ice cubes and then top up with tonic.
Gin & Cranberry Juice
Cranberry juice with gin doesnt need anything else added to it
For a tart, dry mixer for your gin, try cranberry juice! If you have the time and inclination, this could be made by blending and sieving fresh cranberries, but otherwise, shop-bought juice is fine – we love Frobishers Cranberry Juice. We like to mix our gin and cranberry juice with a twist and squeeze of fresh lemon or lime to give it added zing, particularly if your juice has added sweeteners.

Which Fruits Or Drinks Mix Best With Lemon Gin
If you want to impress friends or simply give yourself a refreshing pick-me-up, there are different options when it comes to mixing your cocktails.
You can experiment with any one or all these different mixer drinks.
Starting with
Tonic Water
Tonic is by far the number one drink of choice as a mixer. Tonic is readily available at any supermarket or local store and can be bought in small cans or large bottles. It really depends on how much you drink.
Sparkling Water
Slightly less bitter than tonic water is sparkling water. Its a perfect mix for these types of cocktails and will give a nice balance between the sharpness of the alcohol and slight fizziness of the water. Always accompany your sparkling water with ice cubes to get the most refreshing feel.
Sugar syrup
For the sweet tooth people out there, adding sugar syrup will truly bring your cocktail to life. One of our recipes below gives you just the right amount for ensuring you can still get the flavours to balance perfectly when using sugar syrup.
Lime juice
Some of you just cant get enough of the citrus flavours when creating your own cocktails. If you want to really bring them out, theres nothing wrong with adding a slight of fresh lime juice blended with sparkling or tonic water to finish it off.

Lemon Juice Or Lemonade
The choice between these two comes down to whether you want a sweet drink or not. If youre looking for something simple, citrusy, and bitter, go for the lemon juice. If its a hot day and youre going to be sitting on the porch with an aunt who never knows when to shut up about, well, everything, then go with the lemonade. The lemon smell and the sugar content will cover up the gin and youll be able to get through every tangent your aunt has on every topic from aardvarks to the inevitable heat death of the universe.

Is Gin Stronger Than Vodka
Vodka is a neutral spirit made from fermentable ingredients such as grain or fruit thats distilled or treated to make a spirit without character, aroma, taste or color. Gin, on the other hand, is a spirit that is 40 percent ABV or higher, with its main characteristic flavor derived from juniper berries.

Obviously I Couldn’t Just Do A Gin And Juice Post Without Mentioning Snoop Dogg
I’ll be honest with ya here, I don’t really listen to much classic rap or hip hop, but I couldn’t write about Gin and Juice without talking about the one and only Snoop.
And if for some reason you are wondering why I am mentioning him, head on over to YouTube and treat yourself to his music video for Gin and Juice. If you’ve never heard the song get out from under your rock.
With my mind on my money, and my money on my mind.
I am actually listening to it while writing this just out of respect..
But aside from it being the title of one of the most popular hip hop songs of all time, it is also the back bone of a damn good cocktail. I say backbone because it is more of a loose guideline that’s fully open to interpretation.
How Strong Is The Gin Rickey
As with all highballs, you can make the gin rickey as strong or as weak as you like. If you pour the average 80-proof gin and the final volume is 7 ounces, you can expect it to have an alcohol content around 10 percent ABV . This makes it a nice, casual drink, comparable to the average glass of wine.

Anchor Distilling Company Genevieve
Anchors Steam beer tends to receive much of the attention that goes to this brand, but their harder offerings shouldnt be ignored. Divorcing itself from the English gin style, Genevieve is a sassy minx with ginger heat and all-spice supporting the juniper tastes at the fore. Its a brassy choice that shows how powerful the new breed of American gins are.

Gin And Grapefruit Juice
Grapefruits acidity and slight bitterness means it pairs especially well with any gin that has grapefruit among its botanical notes. It lends gin a tart sweetness that lets gins own citrus notes shine. If youre keen to sample this gin mixer but youre worried about the tartness, try salting the rim of your glass. The salt helps to tone down the grapefruits inherent bitterness.
Looking to get even more creative? Try red grapefruit juice, which is made with the ripest Spanish pink grapefruits and used to make a Paloma cocktail.

Different Ingredients To Give A Try

Snoop himself seems to make it a few different ways.
Often with orange or pineapple juice, but he does a couple different tweaks like adding a little bit of apple Ciroc and soda water in a version called the “Laid Back”, or he ads a splash of cranberry to make it a “Neva Left”.
But try some of your own adjustments.
Start out with something close to the recipe, then mess around with adding any flavors you think would go well. Some of the notes here might seem obvious, but you can also try adding some less straight forward ingredients to make it totally unique.

Best Drinks To Mix With Gin
While there are plenty of liquors you can pick up knowing they’re super versatile and likely to work with almost anything that’s in the fridge and yes, we’re looking at you, vodka gin generally isn’t one of those. There’s a gin and tonic, and … what else?
Admittedly, gin can be tough. It has a distinctive flavor profile that can be described as anything from “botanical” to “Christmas tree,” and everything in between those two. Gin, says MasterClass, is defined in part by the use of juniper berries in the distillation process, and it’s those berries that give this popular liquor that pine-tree, evergreen taste.
For those who might skip the gin because they’re not fans of a gin and tonic, we have good news: There are a ton of other drinks you can use as a base for some truly incredible gin cocktails. Some probably have a permanent spot in the fridge already, and if some are the sort of thing you pick up on occasion, let’s be honest: These ideas are reason enough to spring for that nice bottle of gin.
Five Ways To Gin Without Tonic

But before you go splashing some Fanta in there, Whitley Neill Gins global ambassador, Devin Tomlinson has shared his favourite combos. Why not give one a try this World Gin Day.
