Tesseron Lot 29 Xo Exception Cognac
As their marketing slogan suggests, Tesseron specialise in high-end cognacs, only producing XO and Beyond. This is the original jewel of the collection a unique blend of legendary Grande Champagne Cognacs, including many of the finest of the family’s oldest and rarest stocks. From wines distilled in 1920s, with 5% from 1905 and 30% of the blend from 1906. It is a very rare wine that has been lovingly aged for three generations. It also includes some Colombard and Folle Blanche. It is remarkably pure and refined with floral, brown spice and green chartreuse hints. The palate is impeccably fine and balanced with a souring finish, seemingly free of spirit and beyond description. Mike Bennie nailed it with, “Wow”. This also comes in a heavy decanter style bottle and packaged in a beautiful presentation box.

Product Description
Tesseron dates back to the nineteenth century, when Abel Tesseron acquired the property to house his passion for collecting rare and priceless cognacs. Abel soon realized his ultimate dream of creating his own cognacs, and founded the Maison Abel Tesseron. There he adopted a longterm policy of building up stocks of eaux-de-vie that he carefully conserved in the twelfth century crypt. Relying on two separate estates, one situated in the Grande Champagne and the other in Petite Champagne, he distilled, aged, and blended his exceptional eaux-de-vie to make his dream a reality. This treasure trove of tradition is maintained by Abel’s descendents to this day.
Tesseron is one of the last cognac houses to still use the three Charentais grape varietals: Ugni Blanc, Folle Blanche, and Colombard. The backbone of all great cognac, Ugni Blanc is the main variety used in all their blends. Folle Blanche and Colombard are rarer varieties, having almost disappeared from the region due to their difficult growing and low production yields. With their finesse and complexity, they add an extra dimension in the final blend.
