Don Pilar
Im always amazed at how good Don Pilar is for the price. For years Don Pilar has been my go to tequila. My friends come over and think Ive broken out a one hundred plus dollar bottle of tequila when I serve Don Pilar. Some actually prefer it to the more expensive tequilas I often pour. Don Pilar tastes like an extra Añejo having a nice balance of wood and nutty spice flavors, I sip neat from a Riedel tequila glass. Not too heavy on the nose but nice Agave finish. Try it Im sure youll like it.

Very well made. Balance cooked agave & barrel aging
Don Pilar AnejoThis Anejo has a very pleasant nose of sweet cooked agave and buttery caramel. I get some light honey notes, fresh fruit and some light spices from the Virgin American White Oak barrels. I taste creamy cooked agave and peppery barrel spices then some warm honey. There is a nice mouthfeel and some pepper and alcohol tingle on the finish like a nice warm hug. This is a nice Anejo with some depth. I get more on the nose than the pallet but its a good sipping Anejo. Im positive its additive free. Go get some! Salud!
Blind rated. This one has a beautiful aroma, with loads of caramel, oak and dried fruits. Some sweetness and that little mint, which I perceived throughout the samples. On the palate is balanced with a medium mouthfeel. Again Caramel and oak, although less than expected from the aroma and the same goes for a mild sweetness, which for me is a plus in an añejo . This is a well done añejo. It’s definitely my favorite one in the line, although I would have liked a bit more of complexity and oiliness. I could drink this one all night.
Tequila Don Pilar Anejo
Tequila Don Pilar Anejo is crafted from 100% Blue Agave which is estate grown in the magical Highlands of Jalisco. Don Jose Pilar Contreras, son of these magical lands, uses unique, artisanal methods to create this fine Tequila.
Don Pilar’s Agave is harvested from one of six ranches located in San Jose de Gracia. The Agaves are hand picked and harvested at their peak maturity, then cleaned and steam cooked for 24 hours in autoclaves. Don Pilar Tequila is fermented with Champagne yeast, and improved with the assistance of Baroque music during the 200 hour fermentation process. Don Pilar Tequila is double distilled in stainless steel pot stills, and then aged in lightly toasted, virgin American White Oak barrels for a minimum of twelve months. This aging process imparts a smoothness to the Tequila and enhances the essence of the Agave flavor.
Don Pilar is a Kosher Certified brand.
