1. Plant 8-12 inches apart in well-drained soil in full sun to partial shade. Use one plant per 2 gallon or larger container. Mint will spread indefinitely underground. Plant it in a pot and then the pot in the ground to mitigate spread, or dig up any new shoots each season.

    Noteworthy Characteristics

Genuinely Cuban, Mojito Mint, Mentha x villosa, is a spectacular culinary herb providing the distinct, aromatic and complex taste to the celebrated Mojito beverage. It’s made with mint, and the directions require “muddling” or crushing the leaves in the bottom of the glass. It is clearly different from most other mints with a scent and flavor that are agreeably mild and warm, not pungent nor overly sweet like other mints.

    Growing & Harvesting Information

Mojito mint plants thrive in sun or partially shaded spots that have consistently moist, fertile soil. If space is limited, it grows great in containers.

Harvest leaves once the plant is 8 to 10 inches tall. A good rule of thumb is to limit harvesting to a third of the plant at a time. Wait for at least that much growth before harvesting again. Once the plant is established in the garden, this shouldn’t be a problem. For the best flavor, harvest leaves in the morning before the hot sun hits them. You can keep stems in a glass of water until you’re ready to use them.

    Uses & Cooking Information

While recipes call for any available variety of Spearmint, the real Mojito can only be made with the true Mojito Mint. Not just great in beverages, Mojito Mint also makes a great seasoning for meats and confections.

    How Torani Coffee Syrups Taste

When I tried to make DIY flavorings I always found it difficult to achieve the right ratio of vanilla or chocolate to sugar. It is too easy to over-sweeten your drink and lose the actual flavor of the coffee. The Torani syrups are well balanced sweet enough that I don’t need sugar in my coffee, but without an artificial aftertaste. I even took a spoonful of the foamed vanilla milk and it tasted like a gourmet marshmallow. The salted caramel was the only syrup that I found a little too strong the flavor was overpowering.

    Tips For Growing Mojito Mint

My favorite herb is actually a toss-up between mint, basil, and thyme but mint is the one I use almost every day. I love lemon in my water and when I throw in a few leaves of mint, then alls well in my world. I love Mojito Mint and was so happy when I found it at the Tucson Farmers Market. But, truth be told, is the name just a marketing ploy???

No, its not! This is the mint used to make Mojitos in Cuba, where they originated.

How To Use Torani Coffee Syrups

It’s really easy to incorporate the syrups in your morning routine you can drop in a spoonful at any stage of the coffee process and it will still taste good. Torani lists the serving size as two tablespoons, but I found that too sweet for my tastes, so I used one. The syrups blend with the coffee well and don’t float to the top or sink to the bottom.

Torani recipes suggest steaming the milk and syrups together. I used my Nespresso milk foamer with a tablespoon of syrup to make a vanilla coffee, and the milk foamed just as well with the syrup as without. Occasionally, I will put a spoonful of the flavoring into the bottom of my mug and then pour coffee on top it works just as well if you don’t have a milk steamer or foamer.
