The Black Tuesday Reserve is an American imperial stout that boasts an ABV of 20.5% and is aged for one year in old bourbon barrels before undergoing another year of ageing in new bourbon barrels.
There is little or no head when poured, but you may detect a hint of carbonation. Thanks to the ageing process, you can expect to pick out strong notes of oak and bourbon along with vanilla and sweet malt.
If you want to try a strong, strong beer that also holds its own in terms of flavor and complexity, this one should be high on your list of priorities.

Brewmeister Brewery is from Scotland, like BrewDog, but operates out of Keith. The brewery began with a student loan, and Armageddon was the first beer to stock the shelves. When we looked up the strongest beer we could find, we were a little dismayed to discover that, though there is a beer that is 65% alcohol, its brewed in Scotland. We suspect that its colloquially known as Gin but we cant be sure. Either way, it was disheartening to find that America doesnt brew the most alcoholic beer, and that our best attempt is only one-third the strength of that beer.
But then we thought, Wait a minute, we have beer thats about that strong. We call it bourbon and its delicious. That made us feel a lot better. We also appreciated the fact that, while the following beers brewed in America might not be able to combust when they touch an open flame, they are a healthy combination of delicious and drinking one bottle is like drinking a six pack of most other beers.

Sam Adams Utopias 2017
The only American to make the list, Sam Adams Utopias 2017 is less like a beer and more like a rich vintage port or old cognac. With notes of dark fruit, subtle sweetness, and a deep rich malty smoothness, Utopias is surprisingly palatable for such a high alcohol beer. According to the brand, the brewers utilised several yeast strains during fermentation, including one typically reserved for champagne and a ninja yeast, created for its ability to survive and continue fermenting in an environment that has such a high alcohol level.

The next beer on the list is another of the experimental brews from De Struise Brouwers Black Damnation project. The Black Damnation V is an American imperial stout that clocks a whopping 26% ABV.
At least that much alcohol in a beer would be describable as whopping if we hadnt already seen a slew of beers well over 50-60% ABV!
However, despite this huge amount of alcohol, this is undeniably a beer rather than a spirit perhaps the first one on our list that can be described as such.
It has a black color and manages to produce a thin but short-lived head when poured. The flavor is a mix of chocolate or caramel and dark berries.
If you want to try the strongest beer that actually tastes something like a beer, give this one a go. But be warned the alcohol content is still overwhelming, so tread carefully.
