What Ingredients Are In Vodka

Cucumber Strawbery Mint Cocktail Keto Friendly St. Roch Vodka review

Vodka is made from basic raw materials/ingredients. You can find the ingredients below with a brief description.

Vegetables or Grains

Most vodka is made from fermented grains such as sorghum, corn, rice, rye or wheat. It has become increasingly more popular to also use potatoes, fruits or even just plain sugar.

Water

This is the base ingredient in just about everything you consume.

Malt meal

Malt grains are soaked in water and ground into a powder once they germinate. This meal helps to convert the starches in the vegetables and grains into sugar. fiftystatesvodka.com

Yeast

The yeast Sacchasomyces cereviseal is added to produce alcohol by extracting oxygen from starches and sugars. fiftystatesvodka.com

Does Flavored Vodka Have More Calories

Flavor-infused vodkas can make for a more delicious experience and may also eliminate the need for high-calorie mixers like cranberry or orange juice. Nowadays, you can find vodka infused with the natural or artificial flavor of just about anything.

Lemon, berry, coconut, watermelon, cucumber, vanilla, and cinnamon are popular options. There are also more exotic infusions including: bacon, whipped cream, ginger, mango, and even smoked salmon.

The best part is that most of the infused versions dont contain any extra calories other than plain vodka!

Be careful not to confuse flavor-infused vodka with vodka drinks made with flavored sugary syrups that are added after the fermentation and distilling process. These products often contain many more calories than an infused vodka.

Always read the labels carefully. If you cant find nutrition information on the product label, try searching the manufacturers website.

Keto Drinks: Choose Low

There are many options when it comes to keto drinks, but water is the only one necessary for your survival and overall health.

Others like bone broth, tea, and coffee can offer various health benefits and can be consumed in abundance on a keto meal plan. Coconut water and kombucha add a little flavor to your keto meal plan but should be consumed in moderation.

When it comes to alcohol, limit it to social gatherings, and choose hard liquor with a zero-carb mixer and citrus.

The ketogenic diet is all about being your healthiest self, so making water your preferred choice is the best way to keep your body running in its optimal way.

Eat A Keto Meal Beforehand

Ciroc vodka #ciroc #vodka , ciroc wodka , vodka ciroc ...

Its easy to justify this is a cheat or an easy out, but the truth is you should always be making good sound food choices when possible.

Eating before you drink, much like on a carb diet, can help you to sponge up some of the alcohol and not metabolize it so quickly. And what you eat matters.

If you eat carbs and drink alcohol, youre essentially investing in the worst diet for your health, and you will never feel good about it. Not emotionally, not physically and not the morning afterâ¦

Instead, complement your goals with sound food choices during your downtime. Fat and protein are great options beforehand and can help stabilize blood sugar levels.

If you eat carbs before, during, or after alcohol, they will still kick you out of ketosis. Fats and proteins will make you feel fuller and reduce the urge to snack.

Here are three tips to follow when drinking on a keto diet:

What Is Vodka And Sprite

Vodka and sprite is an alcoholic beverage made from exactly what its name implies vodka and sprite.

In this case, however, we are making the drink low-carb, meaning you will be using Sprite-Zero or Stevia-sweetened Zevia instead of regular Sprite.

This recipe contains a whopping 0g of carbohydrates, while the regular version would have a massive 34g of carbohydrates for the exact same number of fluid ounces.

Making This Drink Keto

To make this drink keto-friendly, youll need to use a more keto-approved drink.

To clarify, depending on your personal keto beliefs, Sprite Zero is not keto-approved. It has lots of added ingredients and questionable artificial sweeteners.

In order to change this, youll want to use a product called Zevia. You may or may not be familiar with it and it is available in your local supermarket.

Zevia has quite a few less ingredients than traditional diet sodas. In fact, here are the ingredients found in Zevia: carbonated water, citric acid, natural flavors, stevia leaf extract.

If you can find me a big name diet soda that has an ingredient list that small, Ill gladly give you a dollar for your efforts. However, I am confident you wont be able to.

In order to properly substitute for Sprite, youll want to use Lemon Lime Twist Zevia. There are plenty of flavors to choose from, but that one will get you closest.

And, the good news is, its sweetened with keto-friendly Stevia extract. Win, win!

How Many Calories Are In A Shot Of Vodka

Vodka is considered a lower-calorie libation compared to wine or beer. The more concentrated your vodka is , the more calories it contains. The proof is a number that refers to the percent of alcohol in the liquor.

You can figure out the percent by dividing the proof in half. For example, 100 proof is 50 percent alcohol, while 80 proof is 40 percent alcohol.

The higher the proof, the higher the calorie count . For a 1.5-ounce shot of vodka, the number of calories are as follows:

  • 70 proof vodka: 85 calories
  • 80 proof vodka: 96 calories
  • 90 proof vodka: 110 calories
  • 100 proof vodka: 124 calories

Alcohol is not a carbohydrate. The calories in vodka come only from the alcohol itself. Pure alcohol contains roughly 7 calories per gram. For reference, carbohydrates and protein both contain about 4 calories per gram, while fat contains about 9 calories per gram.

This means that alcohol is nearly twice as fattening as carbohydrates or protein and only slightly less fattening than fat.

The calorie content is generally the same between different brands of vodka that are that same proof. Kettle One, Smirnoff, Grey Goose, Skyy, and Absolut vodka, for example, are all 80 proof vodkas and each contain 96 calories per 1.5-ounce shot, or 69 calories per ounce.

Does Vodka Provide Health Benefits

Some drinkers enjoy the taste and the effects of drinking vodka and prefer the clear alcohol over other adult beverages such as beer, wine, or dark liquors. But is vodka better for your diet than other forms of alcohol?

Some low-carb dieters prefer vodka because it provides no sugar or carbohydrates . Most varieties of wine and beer come with carbs and some sugar.

Other drinkers believe that vodka is better for you because this light-colored liquor is less likely to induce a hangover. But whether or not you get a hangover has much more to do with how much you drink rather than what kind of alcohol you drink.

There is no “better” alcohol. Alcoholic drinks provide no nutritional value and very few health benefits . If you choose to indulge, enjoy the variety you like in moderation.

Drinking in moderation means consuming up to one drink per day for women and up to two drinks per day for men. A standard drink is defined as one shot of distilled spirits, including vodka one 5-ounce glass of wine or one 12-ounce serving of beer.

Even though many flavored vodkas already provide fewer calories, choosing them may help you to reduce your calorie count even further. Why? Because the extra flavor in the alcohol may allow you to ditch the mixer. It’s usually the mixer that ups the calories, so if you eliminate it, you’ll also decrease the calories in your vodka drink.
