Does anyone know for sure what time you can purchase alcohol till at Walmart on Sundays? We are arriving on a Sunday & were going to pay for a stop in Playa Del Carmen on our way to Akumal.
I may never figure out their strange Sunday liquor laws. It appears Wal Mart and Mega Mart are exempt. The law primarily effects tiendas along 5th Avenue. I could buy beer and wine, but not liquor during some hours.

We were at Walmart in Feb/12 on a Sunday afternoon. The Liquor areas were all roped off……for some reason I think they stopped selling at 2pm or something like that. It was an odd time anyways. Also noticed at the shops on 5th all liquor areas were closed.
About wine at Walmart on Sundays………..the woman ahead of me had wine. The clerk gestured to her “no” but didn’t speak english. The woman was getting pretty frustrated about the whole thing until I told her it was their Sunday liquor laws. Have no idea what the official laws are.
