How To Make Strawberry Margaritas At Home

Want It Less Icy Keep Blending

Easy Homemade Strawberry Margaritas!

The texture of this strawberry margarita is icy, but you can also make it more of a room temperature fruity margarita. How? Just keep blending it! If you blend for a few minutes, it will become less icy and have more of a blended, juice like texture.

  • Icy texture. Keep it frozen for a smoothie-like texture: blend just until its fully integrated and icy.
  • Juicy texture. If you keep blending for a few minutes, you can get to a texture thats more like juice. Its still cold, but you can taste the flavors even more when its not as icy.

Which do we prefer? Well, we like it both ways! Personally I like it a little warmer so I can taste the sweet berries and edge of the tequila. But keep it icy and its a perfect summer cocktail for a hot afternoon on the patio.

Homemade Strawberry Margarita Recipe

Strawberry Margarita is a mix of sweetness, tartness, and a bit of kick from the tequila. I love how the lime content pairs well with the natural flavors of the strawberry.

It is light, refreshing, and just fun to have while chatting with friends and family. Make this from scratch with this easy recipe and enjoy a relaxing bonding experience with your girlfriends!

And making it from scratch is one of the best decisions I have made with regards to making cocktails. I can make sure to amplify the natural flavors of the fruits versus being overpowered by the alcohol.

Or, make it stronger with the tequila and play down the rest of the mixture. It all depends on how I want the outcome to be! Hence, making this recipe has become practical.

Key Ingredients And Substitutions

Strawberry margaritas are simple to make with just five ingredients there is no reason not to make a batch or two all summer long.

The full ingredient list and measurements are listed in the printable recipe below.

  • Tequila: You dont need to splurge but you should buy a reputable brand. Blanco or Respado are preferred as Añejo will be too smoky save that for sipping neat.
  • Orange Liqueurs: There are so many orange liqueurs available, but we prefer to use Cointreau or Grand Marnier since they add far more character to your margarita than standard triple sec. You should splurge on a good orange liqueur if you want the best margarita.
  • Strawberries: You will need some fresh and frozen. If all you can find is frozen, you can allow them to come to room temperature before making the simple syrup.
  • Strawberry Simple Syrup: We use homemade strawberry simple syrup instead of regular simple syrup or another sweetener like agave. It adds additional strawberry flavor to make this our favorite strawberry margarita. In a pinch, you can substitute agave nectar or store-bought simple syrup for the strawberry simple syrup.

What Tequila Is Best For Margaritas

Silver or blanco tequila is usually used to make margaritas. Gold tequilas, which have been aged longer in oak barrels, are not recommended. You also want to choose a mid-range tequila or higher for your margarita. Top-shelf liquor isnt usually necessary unless you want to be fancy, but the cheapest tequila wont taste great. Beyond that, the best tequila for your margarita is the one you love most!

How To Make Strawberry Margaritas In A Blender

You can blend this drink together if you want or mix it by hand. I definitely suggest using a blender, though, if you are using frozen strawberries. That will make the process a lot smoother. If you dont have a blender , then you should probably let the strawberries thaw out first so that they are easier to work with.

One thing to know about how to make margaritas strawberry is that the drink should be very cold but not frozen. It should still be pourable, even if you are using frozen strawberries. It shouldnt be so thick and so cold that it is tough to drink and that it gives you a brain freeze when you gulp it down.

How to make fresh strawberry margaritas that are thick and icy cold? Just add a couple cups of ice to the margarita mix when you blend it. Dont blend for too long so that the ice still remains partially in the mixture. This will create a pleasantly thick drink that is much like a slushie.

Ingredient Notes / Faqs:

Can I use frozen strawberries? No, they wont thaw in time to create the juices necessary for this margarita. Fresh berries are best!

Whats the difference between tequila blanco and reposado tequila? Reposado tequila is briefly aged in barrels, which makes it a light brown color. Silver tequila is not aged in barrels. Silver tequila will have a cleaner taste, and reposado tequila will have a touch of earthiness and character. The type of tequila matters, and I would stick with silver tequila or reposado tequila. I recommend avoiding anejo tequila, as it has a strong flavor that doesnt work well in this strawberry margarita recipe.

Can I use sour mix or margarita mix instead of lime juice? Id rather you didnt. Lime juice is not interchangeable with sour mix if you want the same flavor fresh lime juice makes this margarita great. Sour mix , is made of lemon, lime, and sugar. However, the flavor isnt even comparable to fresh lime juice. If you have a margarita mix that youve used before and you LOVE, you can certainly give it a shot!

Is agave syrup the same as agave nectar? Yes. Honestly, the stuff youll find in the States thats labeled as syrup or nectar is the same product. If you cant find agave syrup, simple syrup will work!

Last week, I ventured out to Chilis with two of my dearest friends, Kristen and Melanie, to celebrate my birthday. With life being so chaotic for everyone these days, our get-together ended up being almost a month past my birthday. Oh, how Im sure youve been there before.

Im just proud we made it happen. That in itself is an accomplishment if you know what I mean!

9 times out of 10, if the 3 of us are getting together, were meeting up at Chilis. Its in a convenient location for all three of us, has an abundance of chips and salsa, and an extremely large cocktail menu. Really, what more could us ladies ask for?!

Two seconds after sitting down at the restaurant, the girls and I perused the cocktail menu. My go-to cocktail at Chilis is always the frozen mango margarita. I was just about to order it when the waitress told us about the $5 margarita of the month

Wait, what?! Tell me more.

With three different tequilas and three different fruit flavors to choose from, I was pretty much sold! Lucky for me they had a mango version for me to order. Kristen went for the blackberry option.

Make sense?
