What Is Vodka Made From
Vodka can be made from a myriad of ingredients, including grains, fruits, and molasses. Most common vodkas are made from fermented rye, corn, wheat, potatoes, or rice.
But some are made from sorghum, apples, grapes, or anything edible with sugar or starch to ferment.
With all this variation, it’s easy to see how, when you’re paying attention, vodkas can taste very different. Each brand we tried has its own aroma, flavor on the palate, and finish.
Titos Handmade Vodka Review By Rob
Once again, Im not overly impressed with a vodka that many people seem to like. Sure, Titos is smooth enough going down, but it tastes like pure ethanol and leaves a very, high-pitched bitter tinge at the top of my mouth. Is this really what you want in a vodka. I imagine that Titos would make even a very, suite, fruity punch still taste like ethanol.
I dont mind a cheaper vodka with some earthiness to it even if it is a little bitter going down at first. I drink vodka martinis and the Titos tastes too much like chemicals and not enough like a martini.. See my review: http://productreviewratings.com/2012/10/titos-handmade-gluten-free-vodka/
Best For Sipping: Absolut Elyx
Region: Sweden | ABV: 42.3% | Tasting notes: Malt, Citrus, Grass
I love sipping vodka straight from the freezer, says Tony Abou-Ganim, star bartender and author of “Vodka Distilled.” Its a beautiful, velvety liquid when it gets to that temperature, then it reveals itself as it warms up. The go-to in his deep-freeze is this premium Swedish bottle. Made with single-estate winter wheat, it has a sharp brightness, he says, that elevates all those malty, grainy flavors in standard Absolut.
Good to Know: The true test of a sipping spirit? Make sure it pairs deliciously with food. Great sipping vodkas, Abou-Ganim says, cuts through caviar like a knife it goes with pickled herring, stinky cheese, charcuterie, foie gras, gravlaxanything cured.”

What Is Vodka Made From And What Are Its Types
The travels of Vodka have come a long way since the Middle Ages. Like us human beings, the drink evolved a lot in its ingredients-based cultural consumption techniques and many such things. But you can only understand the changes if you know the basics of it. What is Vodka made from thus remains a crucial question in such a scenario.
Belvedere Is One Of Our Top Three Picks
If you’re a “I’m going to buy this vodka because I like the label” kind of person, then we’ll be surprised if you’ve never picked up a bottle of Belvedere before. The name itself just sounds fancy, and, as noted by Drizly, the vodka itself is excellent. Belvedere markets itself as the “true expression of luxury vodka,” and is the result of a 600-year vodka-making tradition originally from Poland. It is made with Polish Dankowski Rye and is distilled four times in order to “create the perfect balance of character and purity.” It also doesn’t have any added glycerin, sugar, or additives, so you know you’re getting the good stuff.
Belvedere is a fantastic choice as well, because it is not only great for sipping, but it makes the perfect martini . The only slight downside to Belvedere, as you may have guessed, is the cost. For a 1L bottle, you’re looking at dropping about $40, which isn’t exactly the most budget-friendly idea. But if you have a bit to spare, Belvedere is absolutely the right choice.

Titos Handmade Vodka Review By D Cockrell
One more reason to love Austin, TX I had Titos for the first time in October 2008, and it was Love at First Shot for me. I started out the night drinking Cranberry/Titos, and I quickly found that I could mix these drinks much stronger than with most vodkas. Thankfully the gracious hosts of the glorious event had purchased several bottles of Titos. None of which, I believe, survived the night. Since then Ive had Titos several times, and experimented more with using it as a shooting or sipping vodka. This vodka is clearly awesome in mixed drinks, but that stems from the fact that it is so smooth by itself. If I was purely drinking mixed drinks all night, some other vodkas might overcome Titos. But as far as a sipping straight or shooting vodka goes, Titos is the Bees Knees. Go get some.
Create An Emotional Connection
If you look at the label on a Titos bottle, youll notice it has orange-colored accents. This color choice was purposeful because orange is the color of the University of Texas, and Titos is made in Austin. Early on, this helped Beveridge sell his bottles to the tens of thousands of fans who loved having a drink that supported their team.
As Titos grew and became a nationwide liquor, the brand started Vodka for Dog People, a program with the mission to unite with our friends, fans and partners to better the lives of pets and their families far and wide. Titos also works with Emancipet, an organization that helps make veterinary care accessible to all pet owners. In 2016 alone, 100,000 pets were given affordable care thanks to their efforts.
Anyone can donate to help Emancipet by purchasing branded Titos pet accessories like leashes, collars, toys, and food bowls. Titos also creates events like Yappy Hours and Puppy Pawties to raise money for no-kill shelters.

A bottle of this is $40.00 at my local liquor store.
Sometimes I wonder why we moved to Canada.
Oh well its an excellent vodka. It has a bit of a strange taste that reminds me somewhat of cardboard combined with a mild sweetness, but even thats barely there. Its a calm vodka that soothes the tongue and warms the throat without stinging whatsoever.
It makes great liqueurs with flavors that are toppled flat by harsher products Ive never made a successful pistachio liqueur with anything otherwise.
Titos Handmade Vodka Review By Workshop777
I bought a bottle of Titos after a suggestion of this site. I must say that I found it the most pleasent vodka I have had to date. Incredibly smooth. Some burn but not enough to need a chaser to extinguish. I saw the original review stated it was neutral, I found this vodka to have more of a taste then others I have had. I assume since it is made from corn. It just seems sweeter to me.
My preferrred method for this vodka is over ice with a couple olives. Very good and easy to drink stuff. Thru half of the bottle already, gonna get the big bottle next.
Thanks vodka buzz and members for this great recommendation!

Titos Handmade Vodka Review By Taffyg2003
After discovering that I preferred Ketel One to Grey Goose, the next vodka I had a chance to experiment with was Titos. I was determined to shoot as high as I could in test tasting vodkas to learn where my newbie taste buds would take me compared to what I was reading at this forum, and I was thrilled to find Titos at a local liquor store. Later that night, I made a vodka martini straight up with olives, and was floored by how smooooth it was with Titos. Wow! It reminded me of the Ketel One martini that I had a couple nights before when dining out, but was even smoother and had even less hint of bitterness. Both were similarly impressive in keeping down the alcohol burn upon swallowing, but Titos was less oily and made for a crisper drink. Ketel One had beaten Grey Goose, and now Titos Handmade beat Ketel One, in turn. Very nice!
Titos Handmade Vodka Review By Mark L
I am in the liquor and wine industry in NJ. I sell Grey Goose, Ketel One, Absolut, Stolichnaya, Leaf, Platinum and so on. Tito Beveridge is the kind of guy who actually came to our sales meeting, and told his amazing story. He dabbled in a few different businesses before settling on the distilling. Grey Goose and the others are all very excellent products, but this is American made, corn vodka, copper pot distilled and smooth as silk. His idea was to create a vodka that women could drink that wouldnt burn. He did just that. For the money, I defy anyone to find a better quality product. This is the kind of spirit that sells itself on the price/quality factor. Since this is a Titos forum, I will leave it at that. The other products I distribute are all excellent and have their well deserved fan-bases. Since I am on a pretty much gluten-free diet, this is my choice. Platinum 7X distilled by Sazerac is another excellent product at a VERY good price. Sazerac, for those who dont know, makes the legendary Pappy Van Winkle bourbons and also Fireball.

Vodka Carbs And Calories Compared To Other Types Of Alcohol
Other distilled liquors, like rum, whiskey, gin, and tequila contain roughly the same number of calories as vodka, and zero carbohydrates. Of course, it depends on the brand and the proof.
Some brands of rum, for example, contain added spices and sugar that change the flavor and also the nutritional content.
Wine and beer in general have more calories and carbohydrates per serving than vodka:

Support For Claim: Titos Vodka Is Not Handmade
According to its website, Titos Handmade Vodka, yes, the entire company, consists of only 50 individuals, yet they managed to bottle 850,000 cases of vodka and generate an estimated $85 million in revenue in 2012. Now, were not saying that its an impossible feat, but we are saying that those 50 individuals all deserve a raise if that is the case.
Titos sales continued to climb in 2013 as well, as the company sold a total of 1.2 million cases. Having produced over one million cases of Vodka a year, Titos far exceeds the realm of craft spirits, which according to Distilled Spirits Council of the United States is defined as producing fewer than 40,000 cases per year.
At the moment, this is all Consider The Consumer knows about this pending case, but we do believe it sounds fishy. We understand, after hearing from the law firm who filed, that the case is still underway and hopes to be settled soon.
We have reached out with a few questions to both the law firm and Titos. If and when either responds, we will host updates on our website.
Handmade or not, please remember drink responsibly.

Middle Of The Pack Is Smirnoff
When you think of big brand vodkas, chances are you think of Smirnoff. It’s been handed to people at parties and gatherings more times than anyone can count, as it’s pretty affordable. As noted by Drizly, Smirnoff is an 80-proof vodka that is filtered ten times, so it’s pretty decent to have on its own or to use in a mix. Smirnoff markets itself as the vodka for “connoisseurs and newcomers alike,” as it prides itself on consistency and on meeting expectations.
For a middle-of-the-road vodka, Smirnoff seems to check off most of the boxes, according to reviews. One reviewer on Drizly said it best when they wrote, “Does the job.” That review continued, “Nothing really that special. Will continue to buy as it’s fairly inexpensive and works. … Easily accessible, well-known and that’s another reason why I’ll continue to buy.” Another reviewer said that Smirnoff “causes a slight cringe” after shooting it down, but “it’s decent for a middle shelf vodka.” So if you’re down to get a bottle that’s not super cheap but isn’t going to wreck your bank account either, Smirnoff is a decent option that won’t let you down.

Titos Handmade Vodka Review By Not For Me
Harsh, horrible smell and a flavor to match. I dont understand what people see in Titos. Not smooth, not good. I would imagine this is similar to what gasoline or nail polish tastes like, because it certainly smells about the same.Does it go bad? Because the bottle I bought was awful.
Not for me
If Quality Isn’t Exactly What You’re Going For Skyy Vodka Will Do
We’re slowly starting to inch our way to the best vodka brands on our list. If you’re looking for a vodka that’s pretty decent for mixing, then Skyy Vodka could be the bottle you’re looking for. As noted by Drizly, Skyy Vodka starts at $19.89 for a 1L bottle, so it’s still very much on the affordable side. It has underlying flavors of anise, coriander, and pepper and is a triple-filtered spirit.
This all sounds pretty good, right? Well, some users who took to the reviews on Drizly had less-than-nice things to say. First and foremost, one reviewer explained that they left the vodka in the freezer and it completely froze solid , so that seems a bit questionable if you ask us. Another reviewer put it pretty well when they said, “Skyy is pretty middle of the road. Its selling point is its cheapness.” So is it the worst? No. Is it the best? Not at all. Do with this information what you will.

How Do You Take Jello Shots
If youre using the type of cups pictured here, run your finger around the outer edge of the shot and then suck it out of the cup.
Now they have these squeezeable jello shot cups and theyre are pretty awesome! You dont have to get your fingers dirty and theyre easy to squeeze. No fighting the plastic to get your shot!
Love the idea of jello shot syringes? Me too! I even made Halloween jello shots in some. The thing here is that you need 2-ounce syringes. Theyre big. Like bigger than youd normally expect, but they are the same amount of jello as these little cups. You could always buy the smaller syringes, youll just need more of them to get a buzz.
Jazz up your jello shots! These recipes are easy to make and a party favorite!
Belvedere Vs Grey Goose Vs Tito’s Vodka Comparison
It’s a vodka showdown: Belvedere vs. Grey Goose vs. Tito’s. In this episode of The Tasting Room, we sit down and put three of the most popular vodka brands to the test.
We offer your average alcohol consumer’s perspective and an experienced bartender’s thoughts to decide which of the three like best. Will Grey Goose win Alchemix’s favor? Or will one of the others emerge victorious ?
Sometimes, going to liquor stores can be overwhelming. Especially if you want to try something new. Our favorite liquor store is the size of a small warehouse, so it can be hard to choose what bottle to grab.
This is especially true when you’re trying to decide if paying extra for a popular brand is worth it.
Before filming this episode, I struggled with choosing vodka the most. By definition, vodka is supposed to be neutral and mostly flavorless, right?
So why am I choosing from brands that cost $7 to hundreds of dollars? We decided to try offering some help by choosing 3 of the most popular brands available in the US: Tito’s Handmade, Belvedere, and Grey Goose.
Once Carl decided which vodkas to sample, I put together tasting notes from books, reviews, and the liquor brand’s own marketing materials. I didn’t expect to find as much variation as I did.
In my experience, flavor differences came from what is mixed with the vodka instead of the spirit itself. But, I didn’t take into account exactly how much variation in base elements there can be.
