Gran Centenario® Añejo

The Tequila is a blend of different batches of spirit, including some aged Tequila reserves, designed to produce Centenarios unique aroma and taste profile. According to the company, Gallardo used a proprietary process, blending the richest and smoothest Tequilas to yield a product of exceptional quality and taste. The company refers to this blending process as Selección Suave.

The agave used to produce the Tequila are all highland grown and are typically 10-12 years old when harvested.

The companys core Tequila line consists of a plata, reposado, añejo and extra añejo expression. Below are tasting notes on the Centenario range, including the companys premium expression Centenario Leyenda Extra Añejo Tequila.

Gran Centenario Plata Tequila

Gran Centenario, Plata, 40% ABV, 750 ml

The plata Tequila is unaged, but is married in barrels of American oak for 49days to give it a very subtle wood note. The result is an off yellow, fruit forward Tequila. Typical of blanco Tequilas, it features crisp apple and pear notes, fresh green agave, citrus aromas, especially lime and lemon, and a mild but lingering white pepper earthiness, along with subtle hints of caramel, vanilla and a bit of milk chocolate. The Centenario Plata is something of a cross between a blanco and reposado, and comes across as a bold flavorful blanco with just a hint of reposado induced influences.

Why You Should Rediscover Gran Centenario Tequila

The Gran Centenario Tequila Core Range

There are more than 900 brands of Tequila currently available in the US. More significantly, over 2,000 Tequila brands have been registered worldwide. Currently, Tequila has the distinction of being both the fastest growing spirit by volume and the one having the biggest increase in available brands.

There are many outstanding new Tequilas on the market today. We shouldnt forget, however, that there are also some historic brands of Tequila that are equally good! Sometimes it seems that consumers are quicker to appreciate the newly discovered than a historic brand thats long been familiar.

Gran Centenario Tequila is one of Mexicos best-selling Tequilas. Its also a historic brand. The original company dates back to 1857, making it one of Mexicos oldest Tequila producers. Its also a brand thats well worth rediscovering!

Established in 1857 by Lazaro Gallardo, the Tequila is crafted at the ex-La Hacienda Los Camichines in the Jalisco Highlands. Today, Jose Cuervo owns both the brand and the historic distillery. Standard Drink In Mexico

Several national official agencies have used the Standard Drink unit in their education and health promotion programs, such as:

  • National Commission against Addictions
  • Youth Integration Centers
  • Institute for the Care and Prevention of Addictions
  • Social Research Foundation .

In Mexico, the Standard Drink has a value of 13 grams according to what is stipulated in NOM-142-SSA1 / SCFI-2014 and in NOM-047-SSA2-2015 as a standard drink. To determine the amount of pure alcohol that a standard drink has, it is necessary to run a study on the most consumed beverages in the country. In Mexico, according to the Global Status Report on Alcohol and Health of the World Health Organization , 76% of the alcohol that is consumed corresponds to beer, 22% to distilled spirits, 1% to wines and the remaining 1% to other beverages. Thus, the equivalence o grams of alcohol of the following beverages is represented like this:

BEER, 340 ml – 4.5% Alc.Vol. 12 g of alcohol

Tequila, 40 ml – 38% Alc. Vol. 12 g of alcohol

We know that 13 g of ethanol are metabolized in the body of a healthy adult man in about an hour and in a healthy adult woman, in an hour and a half.

Once we correlate drinks with the time it takes to metabolize ethanol in the body, it will be easier to quantify our intake and thus, be aware of the amount of alcohol that we having.

Is Casamigos Tequila Worth All The Hype

Gran Centenario Plata Tequila Review

NOTE: The review below is based on the original formula of Casamigos Tequila from 2013. The product you will find in stores today is different. The flavor profile has been modified to be MUCH sweeter and it smells like fake vanilla. As a result, we can no longer recommend this tequila to others.

George Clooney + tequila. Do we have your attention yet? The group behind the new Casamigos brand sure hopes so. They released a viral video campaign featuring Clooney, his girlfriend Stacy Keibler, Cindy Crawford, and her husband Rande Gerber, all falling into bed together after a night of drinking.

And the Casamigos website makes claims that caught our attention as well, including The best tasting, smoothest tequila and a tequila that is smooth with no burn.

So the question we wanted to answer was, Is Casamigos worth all the hype?

We initially learned that this tequila was coming to market several months ago, when a store clerk poured us a sample from an unmarked bottle he had stashed behind the counter. He told us it was George Clooneys new tequila, and solicited our feedback. We couldnt spend much time with it in the store, so we didnt rush to judgement, but thought it was something that deserved examination in a better environment, using the proper glassware, and giving it plenty of time.

This price range set our expectations pretty damn high, so we picked up a couple bottles hoping for the best.

Vol.Beverages who have a bigger amount of alcohol than this, can’t be commercialized as “drinks”. According to the Regulation of Sanitary Control of Products and Services, in its only chapter for alcoholic beverages, Article 175, we can consider as alcoholic beverages the following ones:

  • Fermented drinks
  • Liquors
  • Prepared alcoholic drinks and cocktails.
  • Likewise, in the Article 176 of that same chapter, based on their alcohol content alcoholic beverages are classified as:

Is Tequila The Healthiest Spirit Of Them All We Think So

Review: Gran Centenario Rosangel Hibiscus Tequila ...

When you compare tequila to many other popular spirits, it is easy to argue that it is the healthiest.

Tequila is made from natural sugar, agave nectar, whereas other spirits can be distilled with refined sugars that may be high in calories or processed corn syrup. Quality tequila, like Casa Mexico Tequila, has no added preservatives or artificial colors.

Tequila also contains fewer calories than many other spirits. It is a great drink of choice for people who are on a diet. With only 98 calories in a 1.5 oz shot, its easy to see why! But what about vodka and whiskey? The average shot of vodka has 106 calories whereas whiskey has 113.

Another great benefit is that tequila is less likely to give you hangovers than other spirits. Hangovers are caused largely by congeners. These congeners, through the fermentation process and aging, are more prevalent in barrel-aged spirits such as wine, brandy, or whisky. Tequila, on the other hand, is made from 100 percent blue agave and has fewer congeners than brown hard liquors.

    How Is Tequila Produced

In the case of tequila, the process begins with the selection of the Tequilana Weber blue variety agaves. Once this succulent plant has reached its ripening peak, which takes around 6 to 8 years to happen, they are harvested in order to process their sugars in the distillery.

The harvest of the agave is known as jima. During the jima, the agave leaves are cut and separated from the heart, known as pineapple. The agave pineapple fibers contain the starches that will later be turned into simple carbohydrates by means of a hydrolysis process and then, they will be fermented using yeasts. The dead must, which is the result of the agave juice ferment, goes through a distillation process in distillation columns or stills. The musts are here brought to a boil in order to separate their more and less volatile components. The captured vapors are cooled and condensed, and the distillate is received in another container to continue its process.

Distillation plays a very important role in the processing of tequila, since it aims to concentrate the alcoholic part by eliminating the water and solid particles that come from the fermentation process. It also gets rid of those impurities and undesirable components that could be harmful to human health. According to the norm, tequila must be distilled twice in order to eliminate all kinds of impurities that can not be present in the drink.

Nose: An unidentifiable floral or fruity note layered in oak sawdust. Arid earth. Flavor: Hot and bitter entry. There is some sweetness that has an aftertaste that is not pleasant. Hints of caramel or butterscotch, but masked in the overwhelming bitterness.

With How Many Tequilas Do I Get Drunk Responsible Intake

    por Karina Sánchez | Jan 4, 2022 5:57:20 PM

In my 10 years of experience in the distilled beverage industry and my 5 years of experience as an Ambassador for the brand, I am often asked what is the amount of tequila that a human being can consume without getting drunk.

There are many myths around this issue and here are the answers that you’ve been looking for. To be able to talk about the amount of alcoholic beverages that a human can actually drink without getting drunk, we would have to start by defining some basic concepts and processes that would help us better understand the composition of alcoholic beverages and specially, tequila.

In order to formally measure how much alcohol we can drink, a Standard Drink unit has been established in Mexico. In this article, you will find out how this final measurement was calculted. Based on it, we now know that an adult man should not consume more than an ounce and a half of alcohol per hour and a woman an ounce per hour. We suggest that you to read the whole article so you know how was this amount of alcohol calculated.
