American Star Caviar Lime Vodka At first I thought this was some kind of terrible typo for Kaffir Lime, but it turns out caviar lime is its own wacky thing. This vodka uses these finger-shaped limes for flavoring, resulting in a quite successful spirit. The nose is distinctively lime very fresh and not at all artificial smelling, with some floral undertones. On the palate, the citrus sustains, with a touch of vanilla driven perhaps by the base spirit to add some nuance. Much cleaner than the straight version. A-

Absolut Juice Strawberry Edition was just released along with an Apple Edition. The bottles label hints at a seasonal release, with Summer notched for each of these two flavors. If you are a fan of flavored vodkas, Im sure you have already noticed several real fruit juice infused flavored vodkas. Absolut Strawberry is made from Swedish winter wheat sourced from 450 local farms. One kilo of wheat is needed to produce one liter of vodka. The wheat is milled onsite, blended with water, a proprietary yeast, and fermented for 2 days. A continuous distillation process is used with steel column stills and copper plates. The spirit is filtered once through a mesh filter. Pure deep well water that comes from naturally filtered aquifers is softened through reverse osmosis and then blended with the spirit to reduce to proof. 5% real strawberry juice, and natural flavors are infused with the vodka before bottling at 70 proof. At one time retailers would fight to be the first to stock any new flavor Pinnacle created in their lab. It has been several years since Pinnacle created a new flavor. When I heard of the release of Pinnacle Strawberry I searched everywhere to find it. I just found it tonight at a Total Wine and More in Minnesota. Pinnacle currently lists over 40 vodka flavors on their website including Kiwi-Strawberry, and Strawberry Shortcake. Pinnacle Vodka is made from French grown wheat and pure French spring water. Absolut Launches Absolut Juice Edition
Absolut has revealed its latest NPD for the off-trade – a new craft bottle range of drinks blended with fruit juice.
Absolut Juice Edition, which will launch with two flavours: Strawberry and Apple, is made using Absolut Vodka and fruit juice. The new range is presented in 50cl bottles to tap into the growing trend for craft products, and the drinks have a lower abv of 35%, described as being âperfect for mixing with sodaâ.
The two flavours have been inspired by Swedish seasons, strawberries for the Swedish summer and apple for autumn.
Chris Shead, channel director for grocery at Pernod Ricard UK, said: âAbsolut is the UKâs number one flavoured vodka and the overall number one premium vodka brand in grocery multiples, growing in value 9.4%. For the past five summers, flavoured spirits have outgrown unflavoured spirits and UK vodka drinkers are preferring sweet fruit flavours.
