We are considering a trip down to the Bourbon Trail sometime in late February or early March , and my boyfriend is very interested in also stopping at any recommended liquor stores. I have found bourbon forums where people say Toddy’s is considered one of the best bourbon stores in the world , that visitors should absolutely stop at Justin’s House of Bourbon, and that there is a chain called Liquor Barn that has good pricing. We aren’t looking for top-shelf, high-end, high-priced bourbon — and we already have a lot of Buffalo Trace brands on our shelf at home. We’re more likely to buy either bourbons we absolutely can’t find at home , or ones that are just a lot harder to find in PA . But most of all, we are looking for stores that could potentially be more of an “experience” in terms of having more shelves to browse, or stores that are a little off the beaten path but have a great reason for stopping.

Also, youre in Kentucky, so certainly theres some bourbons you can only get here, and not where youre from. Knob Creek and Old Grand Dad are my 2 favorites, but you can certainly get those most every where you live.

The Bourbon Capital of the World

Youll drive right through Bardstown when you go to visit Heaven Hill, Thomas Moore, Independent Stave Cooperage, or Makers Mark, so you might as well stop off and get some great bourbons you can only find here in the Bourbon Capital of the World. And dont forget to visit Bardstown during Bourbon Festival which is always the third weekend in September.

Dixon, a bartender at Jeff Rubys Steakhouse downtown, was driving around town one day when he saw kids selling lemonade and stopped to make a purchase. The youngsters werent exactly selling bourbon.
