    Easy Meals Can Taste Great

Cooking amazing meals for your family is not difficult and should be enjoyable. There are plenty of recipes out there for fast meals with limited ingredients that still taste great, so go make use of them!

I like making flavorful meals without a lot of ingredients. You dont have to have a bunch of different spices and rare ingredients in your cupboard to create delicious meals. I bet you have all the ingredients for this salmon glaze in your cupboard right now.

One of the beautiful things about limited ingredient meals is they let the individual flavors of your ingredients shine. With only bourbon, brown sugar, and soy as the main components of this sauce, you want to choose a good quality bourbon. It doesnt have to be fancy or expensive, just something with a good flavor. A good rule is to never cook with anything you wouldnt drink!

I typically dont count salt and pepper as ingredients in my 7-ingredient recipes. Most of the time they need to be adjusted to taste anyway, so sometimes you dont need them at all. Like this bourbon glaze whether you need to add salt is going to depend on your soy sauce brand. Some are salty and some are not. I recommend always testing your food before starting to add salt or pepper so that you dont get stuck with over seasoned food.

This recipe comes from Bill Porterfield, a competitor in the World Food Championships Thrilla at the Grilla contest.

Billâs passion for cooking began when he took the role as scoutmaster for his sonâs Boy Scout troop. While cooking for Air Force troops during deployment, he perfected his outdoor cooking. He has competed in KCBS and his cooking slogan is âI may not be the best, but I have cooked for some of Americaâs finestâ.

    Ingredients

    • 1 Cup Jim Beam Bourbon
    • 1/4 Cup Apple Cider Vinegar
    • 3 tsp Worcestershire Sauce
    • 2 Tbsp Grilla Beef Rub

    Directions

Preheat your pellet grill to 350 degrees F.

Carefully dry your skinless salmon fillet with a paper towel to remove any moisture from it. Brush each side with olive oil and dust with Grilla Grills Beef Rub and set aside. In a bowl combine the remaining ingredients and blend thoroughly.

Place salmon on the grill for approx. 5 minutes, just long enough to start getting an outer crust. Cover the top of the salmon with the glaze mixture generously and let cook for approx. 10 minutes.

Re-glaze the top side and carefully turn over and glaze the other side and cook for another 5 to 10 minutes. Be careful not to over cook the salmon so depending on the thickness of your fillet as to how long you want to cook it.

Look, you dont need to use anything fancy or top shelf for this bourbon glazed salmon recipe! Conversely, it shouldnt be so cheap that you wouldnt bother drinking it.

I used Bulleit bourbon for this bourbon salmon recipe, because thats generally what we have on hand. Its a nice middle-of-the-road bourbon that is equally good for cooking and drinking in a bourbon lemon rosemary cocktail.

    Why This Recipe Works

We eat a lot of salmon in my house and grilling salmon on cedar planks is one of my favorite ways to cook it. The cedar planks impart a distinctive woodsy flavor that compliments the richness of the salmon.

And to top if off I use a honey bourbon sauce to marinate the fish and also as a glaze to coat the fish as it cooks. It’s a delicious, restaurant quality meal right in your own backyard!

    Master A Bourbon Bbq Sauce

When it comes to an outdoor barbecue, it’s all about the grill and, of course, dousing whatever is on that grill with the right sauce. Whether it’s chicken or ribs, the right BBQ sauce can help make all of your grilling dreams come true. Sure, you can simply slab your chicken with any ol’ BBQ sauce, but we say if you really want it to stand out, create your own with a splash of bourbon in it.

A bourbon with lots of oak flavor and a touch of pepper will make for the perfect savory BBQ sauce you’ll want to smother your chicken in. Plus, the peach preserves and brown sugar help add just the right amount of sweetness you’ll want.

How To Bake Bourbon Brown Sugar Salmon:

Baking salmon is basically the easiest thing in the world, and I use this same technique for my salmon alfredo, too. For this bourbon salmon recipe, first, preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.

Then, grab a small rimmed baking pan. I usually line it with foil for super easy cleanup. Spray the foil with nonstick cooking spray so the salmon doesnt stick.

Place the salmon on the foil and give it a sprinkling of salt.

Bake at 400 degrees F for 18 to 20 minutes or until the fish is cooked through. If you have an instant read thermometer, the easiest way to check for doneness is to check for an internal temperature of 145 degrees F in the thickest part of the fillet.

The next step, broiling, is optional for bourbon glazed salmon, but I really like to do it, as it gives the fish kind of a crispy, caramelized crust.

I brush each piece of fish with the bourbon glaze, and then return the pan to under the broiler. Just like when you broil the sugar on top of chocolate creme brulee, watch it SUPER CAREFULLY and let it broil for just a minute or so until the sauce bubbles and caramelizes.

If you prefer not to use the broiler for this bourbon glazed salmon recipe, simply brush the bourbon glaze onto the fish when it comes out of the oven and serve without broiling. Its great either way.

    Is Pan Searing Salmon Difficult

How to Make Bourbon-Glazed Salmon | Health

NO! Salmon cooks in a pan or skillet on the stovetop really quickly and easily. Simply sear each side in a little oil on medium heat for 3-4 minutes per side for medium doneness. Youll get a perfect exterior sear and tender inside. Better yet, you can heat your glaze right in the same skillet for easier cleanup. If you like salmon on the rarer side, sear for 2 minutes per side.

    • Use uniform size pieces of salmon – this helps the fish cook evenly and quickly. To get uniform pieces of fish you can ask your butcher to cut the fish into equal 5-6 oz. fillets, you can purchase pre-cut or frozen fillets, or you can cut them yourself.
    • Preheat the oven – an evenly hot oven also helps the salmon cook evenly. Make sure your oven is fully preheated before roasting the salmon in it.
    • Use fresh salmon – this keeps the salmon fresh and non-fishy smelling. If you are using fresh salmon, buy salmon with a great expiration date or that doesn’t smell fishy. If you are using frozen salmon, use it within 12 hours of defrosting.

This bourbon sauce is similar to the bourbon salmon marinade at Longhorn steakhouse, but for even more flavor I reduce half of the sauce to make a glaze for basting the salmon as it cooks. To make the sauce:

  • Combine all of the bourbon sauce ingredients in a bowl and stir to combine.
  • Place the salmon filets in a large resealable bag and pour half of the sauce over top, then toss to coat and refrigerate. Let marinate for at least 30 minutes, turning occasionally. Reserve the remaining sauce for later.
