Why You’ll Love This Recipe

Peach Margaritas | Frozen and On The Rocks!

The sweet flavor in this spicy peach margarita is balanced with a tart blast of lime and finishes with a fiery kick of sweet-hot jalapeno. You can add club soda to make it light and bubbly if you want to.

Either way, it’s the perfect, unique addition to any Cinco de Mayo celebration.

When most people think of a tequila cocktail they think of a margarita in all of its vast array of flavors and forms. There’s no doubt that in the United States, and especially in Texas, the margarita is the most popular tequila drink.

And it really is delicious – this peach margarita is one of my favorites.

Tips To Make The Best Margarita:

  • To make peach puree add a snack pack of peaches into a blender and process until smooth.
  • You may substitute orange juice in the same unit of measure for the orange-flavored liqueur.
  • Be sure to use fresh lime juice for this recipe. For an ounce use approximately the juice of 1 ½ small limes.
  • Rim the glass with brown sugar. If you prefer to use salt, use coarse sea salt or kosher salt.
  • If this margarita is too strong in terms of alcohol, adjust to your preference or allow the ice to melt a little before drinking to dilute.
  • Double or triple the recipe as needed.

Helpful Tools For Making Margaritas:

One of my military sons was home from Korea for 10 days. It worked out beautifully because one of my OTHER military sons was in Waco, about 90 minutes away, for an air show last weekend.

So those two got to see each other which doesn’t happen very often and it was completely unplanned. So much fun while it lasted but it was harder on me since I had to say goodbye twice in a week. I tried to get this written up yesterday but I was too much of a basket case, y’all. I couldn’t even see the computer screen for all the tears.

I am so proud of them being willing to serve but it definitely comes with a price.

The oldest one is about 7 years away from retirement and I am hoping that he gets an amazing job offer from somewhere right here in Texas – one that he can’t refuse.

He’s been in Las Vegas and traveling with the Thunderbirds for several years but in the fall he’s headed to Japan with his wife and baby – and it’s unlikely that I’ll see them again for four years or so. I keep reminding myself that the flight to Japan isn’t THAT long and the Internet has made communication so much easier… but the reality is that it’s not like having them here.

Son #2 is actually coming back from Korea and will be up by Sacramento so that will be nice… and son #3 is in Florida when his ship is in port so I do see him more often, too.

I’ve told the rest of my kids that there is to be NO MORE of this moving away from Mom business.

    Enough of that.

    About The Peach Margarita

Using peach as a flavor in cocktails isn’t a new idea, but using peaches in drinks other than a Bellini is finally catching on. Although have been swirling in glasses since the mid 20th century, the peach margarita is relatively new to the scene, only coming to be after flavored liqueurs became more readily available, as well as peaches being available outside of the season.

You can enjoy the peach margarita year round–be it on a sunny summer day, in cooler weather with a touch of cinnamon and nutmeg, or a toast to the blossoming spring days. Or in June, as you read up about the Georgia Peach Festival and plan your next trip.

What Ingredients Goes Into The Recipe

    • Fresh frozen peaches – this is where the flavor is at plus a bonus of fiber and nutrients
    • Ice – to make this cocktail recipe refreshing, chilled and creates a slushy consistency
    • Tequila – use a good quality tequila such as Don Julio or check out this list of the best tequila for margaritas
    • Sweetener- honey or agave syrup with an option to add Stevia for a bit sweeter drink without loads of sugar
    • Lime Juice – for just a little burst of zesty flavor!

Two Options: Drink It Icy Or Juicy

There are two options for the texture of this peach margarita! It all depends on how long you blend it. Here are the options:

    • Icy texture. If you like your margaritas frozen, you can blend this peach margarita until it has the consistency of a smoothie. It tastes great like this!
    • Juicy texture. Keep blending your peach margarita for a minute or so, and the icy texture will dissolve into a juicy texture. This is what you see in the photographs. I prefer my peach margarita this way because when its less icy, it has even more flavor.

How To Make A Peach Margarita From Scratch:

Begin the recipe by using a cocktail shaker or jar with a lid to combine together the tequila, peach puree, lime juice, orange-flavored liqueur, and maple syrup together. Place the shaker top or jar lid on the shaker or jar and carefully shake for 10 to 15 seconds.

Pour the drink mixture from the shaker or jar into a glass. Top with a lime wedge for garnish. Serve and enjoy!

How Strong Is The Peach Margarita

The alcohol content of a peach margarita will depend on the liquors you choose. While tequila’s often 80-proof, the schnapps and triple sec will vary. Generally, a frozen peach margarita falls in the 12 percent ABV range, and the shaken drink will be a little stronger. The version made with peach schnapps alone will be about twice the strength when made with a 48-proof schnapps.

    Ingredient Substitutions And Recommendations:

    • Tequila as youve likely already seen, there are numerous tequilas on the market. We enjoy either Herradura Reposado or Cazadores Reposado . Both of these a great. Choose the best quality tequila that is the most affordable to you.
    • Cointreau Cointreau is an orange flavored liqueur. I wouldnt recommend leaving this out, as it really balances the citrus flavor and sweetness of your margarita. If you cannot find Cointreau, you can substitute Triple Sec in its place.
    • Lime juice I recommend buying 1-2 limes for each margarita you are making. This will give you adequate juice for each drink and leave extra for salting rims and slices for garnish. Cant get fresh limes? You can also find bottled lime juice in the cocktail mix section of the grocery store.

    Sweeten This Peach Margarita With

Unlike our Classic Margarita, this peach margarita has a little added sweetener besides the Cointreau. This is because the fruit needs a little sweetener to enhance its flavor . Weve offered a few different options for the sweetener: you can use any of them!

    • Agave syrup: Agave is often used as a sweetener with margaritas because its used to make tequila! Its easy to find these days at most grocery stores.
    • Simple syrup: This is the classic cocktail sweetener you can make your own at home! Simple syrup has more of a straightforward sweetness.
    • Maple syrup: Our favorite syrup to sweeten cocktails is maple syrup: it gives a nuanced sweetness. .
    • Honey: If all you have is honey, this works too!

    Tips For Squeezing Limes

You’ll find larger limes, with a smooth, soft rind are easier to juice than small, rigid limes. A citrus juicer or reamer makes extracting lime juice a breeze. If you don’t have one, below are few tips to help you get the most out of your limes.

    • Microwave the lime for 20 to 30 seconds.
    • Roll it against the counter with a little force.
    • If the lime is very hard and difficult to squeeze try twisting the inside with a fork!

    For a crowd

Set up a serve-yourself drink bar for a large group. Muddle the strawberries and sugar in a large bowl. Then pour the mixture and the peach juice into a pitcher. Serve tequila and lime wedges on the side. Then enjoy a hassle-free evening.

    Non-alcoholic

This drink is also delicious without tequila. Simply mix up the base ingredients and leave the alcohol out for a fun time, no booze required.

    Blended

Frost it up with an icy twist. Throw all of the ingredients in a blender, pour it into glasses, and enjoy!

    Salt or sugar the rims

If you have time, chill the glasses. Cut a notch in a lime and run it around the edges of the glasses. Then put salt or sugar on a plate thats slightly larger than the glass rims. We love Himalayan pink salt because its less potent than regular salt. Twist the rims of the glasses in the salt, and youre on your way to a fiesta!

    A Note About Peach Schnapps

The classic margarita recipe uses triple sec, a generic term for orange liqueur. I use peach schnapps instead to boost the stone fruit notes throughout the cocktail while adding sweetness.

Schnapps can mean different things to different people. The schnapps youll find in Europe is a brandy distilled from fermented fruit juices and bottled without aging to preserve the peak flavors and aromas. No additional sweeteners are added.

Its mostly enjoyed lightly chilled as a digestive. What we have stateside is a product where fruit is steeped in alcohol, strained, and then sweetened, which makes it use better for mixing cocktails.
