Is Bombay Sapphire Gin Gluten Free

Classic Bombay Sapphire & Tonic

Bombay Sapphire Sunset & Tonic

Bombay Sapphire lengthened with Fever-Tree tonic water and a squeeze of fresh fragrant lime bright, refreshing, up-lifting & divine. The ultimate expression of that quintessentially English classic, the G& T

Ingredients:

Squeeze a lime wedge into a balloon glass.

Add the Bombay Sapphire then swirl the glass to mix and infuse.

Fully fill the glass with cubed ice and stir to chill and mix. Top with 100ml of Fever-Tree tonic water by pouring it gently down a twisted bar spoon to retain as much effervescence as possible.

Finally, gently fold/stir with a bar spoon to combine.

Its A London Dry Gin But You Could Make It In Jersey

Bombay Sapphire is a London Dry gin, but thats not a regional designation . Its a style specifically, a dry style of gin that doesnt use any artificial ingredients. Instead, distillers balance piney juniper notes with a dealers choice of botanicals and spices. So, just as bourbon can be made outside of Kentucky, London Dry gin doesnt have to be made in London.

Awards Won By Bombay Sapphire Gin

This is a gin with a string of awards. It is perhaps best known for winning first place at the World Gin Awards. The award was a well-deserved recognition of the effort that has gone into producing this unique gin.

On top of this award, Bombay Sapphire has also won gold at the PAC awards and the sought after Mobius Statuette along with many other awards.

Celiac.com 07/23/2021 – Even with a clear statement by the FDA that all distilled alcohol is gluten-free, we still get a lot of questions about alcohol, and cocktails. Specifically, which brands of alcohol and cocktails are gluten-free.

We especially get a lot of questions about gluten-free cocktails with Bombay Sapphire gin. Remember, unless gluten ingredients are added after distillation, all gin is gluten-free, so these recipes can also apply to other gin brands.

What We Like About Bombay Sapphire Gin

Bombay Sapphire Gin 1.75L

There is no denying it this is more of an exotic gin. If you have not tried a craft gin before, you may be a bit surprised. It is perhaps not the right gin for someone new to gin.

However, if you are looking for a gin that is full of taste sensations, and you have got the time to sit down and enjoy a glass of truly good gin, Bombay Sapphire Gin is for you. It is a sipping gin that is more refined and sophisticated when compared to other gins in the same price range.

There is no doubt about it. This is truly a great gin that tastes great. Enjoy with a splash of tonic water or mix in a cocktail.

Final Review Thoughts & Pairings

I find gin to be a year-round spirit. While many people think of it as a winter beverage because of the juniper flavor, it blends nicely into many of my favorite summer cocktails. It pairs with lemon, lime and lavendar quite easily.

The flavor profile easily allows cocktails to be mixed with food or enjoyed solo. In true Bespoke Unit fashion, I also tried pairing a Bombay Sapphire gin and tonic with a mild cigar . I found that together they enhanced the botanicals in every sip and the flavors of the cigar within my mouth.

Bombay Sapphire is not overpowering there is a touch of each of the botanical flavors distinctly engaging the palate throughout the experience. It mixes easily but still finishes bold, making it one of my go-to gins.

Where Is Bombay Sapphire Gin Distilled

The UK has for a long time been the home of premier gins. Bombay Sapphire Gin is no exception. This high-quality gin is distilled in the English countryside in the county of Hampshire. The distillation process takes place from start to finish in an old paper mill near the ancient English city of Winchester.

Winchester is perhaps better known as the home of King Arthurs Round Table but is now also known as the home of Bombay Sapphire Gin. A visit to the distillery is worth your while if you are in the area. Tickets to guided tours are easy to book online.

Not only can you tour the distillery. You can also take part in classes where you can learn how to make cocktails. Tasting sessions are available throughout the year.

What Botanicals Will I Find In Bombay Sapphire Gin

Bombay Sapphire was a bit of a sensation when it first hit UKs drinks market. In a very crowded marketplace, the botanicals stand out and are what makes this gin special.

If you are a gin lover, you will pick up lemon peel, liquorice, orris root, cassia, cubeb, almond, juniper berries, angelica, and coriander. You will also notice a touch of grains of paradise which is a much sought after African spice. It is this unique range of botanicals that have turned Bombay Sapphire into a worldwide taste sensation.

The base spirit of Bombay Sapphire is juniper berries. When the gin was first launched in 1986, many gin lovers were confused about the base spirit. With so many other exciting botanicals added in, the base spirit was hard to distinguish. But, when you let the gin linger for a moment, you will pick up notes of juniper berries.

Sipsmith: Best For Gin & Tonic

With a combination of ten botanicals and a bold and complex taste, Sipsmith is a classic near-perfect gin. Its a brand that somehow manages to remain a classic while still pioneering the craft gin movement. Sipsmith uses a single shot method of distillation, meaning that its only diluted with water, not an additional neutral spirit, and was the first to reintroduce copper stills after almost two centuries.

Its a distillery thats far younger than its classical branding would suggest. Launching in 2009, Sipsmith has already helped to pave the way for an uncompromising good gin thats rich, smooth and balanced.

On the nose it smells fairly similar to many other gins, but tasting it is where this spirit comes alive. While juniper is the main body of force, there are also hints of oranges and lemons, cassia ,coriander and gentle pepperiness. Mix with your favourite tonic to bring out the flavours.

Enjoy Hendricks Gin In These Cocktails

Hendricks is the gin you want when mixing drinks with fresh ingredients. It pairs well with almost any flavor, from fruits to flowers and herbs.

Enjoy it with pomegranate in a poinsettia punch, warm it up mulled wine style with the hot gin punch recipe, or enjoy the lovely flavor of a delicate rose martini. It also does wonders when that cucumber is accented. A recipe like the green gin giant pairs the gin with elderflower, basil, mint, grapefruit, and fresh cucumber for an intriguing, fresh-from-the garden cocktail.

Additionally, Hendricks is the gin of choice for many drinkers who prefer vodka. You can use it as a substitute for a variety of vodka cocktails, as seen in the sparkling strawberry cocktail, the cherubs cup.

Bombay Sapphire East Gin Review

Bombay Sapphire London Dry Gin 1000ml

With the COVID 19 isolation ongoing and the onset of spring, I have some more time in the afternoon and good weather to enjoy on my porch. It is the perfect combination for one of my favourite cocktails, a Gibson cocktail.

Bombay Sapphire Gin has been my go to gin for this cocktail. When I was in the liquor store, I noticed a different variety of Bombay Sapphire Gin, Bombay Sapphire Gin East. It advertises on its label that it has more lemongrass and pepper notes. It was only a couple of dollars more than the Bombay Sapphire so I decided to give it a try.

I started by sipping it neat. There was definitely some more flavours. While it still had the great balance of Bombay Sapphire, it also had just a touch more pepper notes that made it seem a bit more sharp. It was quite a pleasant difference. However, I dont drink gin neat. How would it be in my Gibson cocktail?

So, I mixed it with some and made a Gibson cocktail. I was pleased to find that the sharper taste added a nice note to my cocktail. It was still a great gin taste that went wonderfully in the cocktail but the sharper pepper notes made a surprisingly better cocktail. It just seemed brighter and tastier. I prefer the East variety and will happily spend the extra couple of dollars

The Verdict

Sometimes it pays off to try something new. The difference between the Bombay Sapphire East and the Bombay Sapphire gin isnt huge but it is noticeable and very enjoyable!

What Does Bombay Sapphire Taste Like

Bombay Sapphire opens with a touch of juniper, ripe citrus, and hints of spice in the fragrance. The palate is exceptionally smooth and allows the botanicals to open up one by one and mix in the most lovely way with juniper slightly at the forefront. The finish is bolder but retains the spirits brightness.

Nolets Reserve: The Most Expensive Gin

Everything about Nolets Reserve gin is superior. The entire goal of the distillery is to create the very best, from the exclusive high quality, invaluable ingredients, to the tiny production and minuscule allocation.

This modern gin is distilled at a higher ABV than usual, too, at 52.3% compared to a standard of between 40-48%. Despite the number, its an easy-to-drink gin thats smooth and round throughout. Its high price point comes mostly from its use of saffron, which is more expensive per ounce than gold and isnt used sparingly in Nolets distillation process.

The saffron also gives Nolets Reserve its slightly tinted amber colouring and warm, deep spice flavour. Unsurprisingly, its a gin with plenty of depth, balancing bitter notes like verbena with florals like Turkish rose and lavender.

Only a few hundred bottles of Nolets are produced each year, overseen by master distiller Carolus Nolet Sr. Each bottle is also personally numbered and signed by the master distiller before its sold. Its a wonderful, complex gin created to be sipped.

Gluten In Distilled Products

Since gin is either made from barley, rye, or wheat, some might question whether it contains gluten. During the distilling process, alcohol is isolated from all solids. This vapor passes through the still and condenses on the other end. All gluten protein is left behind in the still. As a result, the final product contains no gluten.

Those with extreme gluten sensitivity have been known to react to gin even with these measures, so caution should still be exercised.

Flavored gins might warrant some caution as well. They may contain gluten substances or have come in contact with gluten. Due to the lack of nutrition label requirements, some might want to stick with unflavored gin or double-check with the manufacturer.

For most, gin is a safe alcohol to drink even when trying to avoid gluten.

Overall Bombay Dry Gin

I sometimes feel as this is one of the most consistently excellent classic, London Dry process gins on the market that goes somewhat unheralded when people ask whats the best classic gin. While less famous than Bombay Sapphire, those looking for something more juniper-forward should look towards Bombay Dry Gin.

Highly Recommended in its category.

Bombay Sapphire New Traditions: Christmas Lunch Cocktails

For a New Classic: Cranberry Pine Twist

Why I Love It: Who doesnt love a gin and tonic at Christmas? Its one of the nations favourite drinks for good reason. The cocktail is just so delicious and drinkable, and I love with festive twist on the classic with the additional of a pine spring and some fresh cranberries. It takes a few minutes to make, but the touch of pine really adds a fancy, festive feel to the drink to impress guests.

The Idea: For me, no gin and tonic is complete without some delicious nibbles to enjoy alongside. Try making your own festive honey-roasted nuts to accompany the drink by baking a mixture of almonds, hazelnuts and peanuts in the oven with unsalted butter, runny honey, smoked paprika and sea salt.
