How Much Is Blanton’s Whiskey

How Much It Costs

Blanton’s Single Barrel (no. 469) Review

You can get Blantons bourbon for MSRP at Costco, which is around $49.99.

Believe us this is a great deal since weve seen Blantons being sold for no less than $80 in some retail shops. On Drizly, an e-commerce booze store, they sell a 750ml bottle of Blantons for a whopping $130.

Blantons is a great bourbon with a solid flavor profile, but it isnt easy to justify spending over $80. We find that the happy medium for its quality is no more than $60.

Blantons Straight From The Barrel

At 130 proof, this bourbon is bound to knock your socks off. This was the third version of Blantons created after the original and Gold. This cask-strength bourbon is highly sought after by bourbon connoisseurs.

The flavor can be described as delicious, enhanced, and bolder than any of the other varieties. The heat from the high proof has quite an impact on the profile. The palate brings a rich and heavy dose of oak and vanilla.

Youll also find notes of honey, butterscotch, and raisins. If you want to reduce the heat, you can add a few drops of water or enjoy it on the rocks.

Demand Outnumbers Single Barrel Bourbon Supply

Blanton’s Bourbons are rare because the demand for this single barrel bourbon far outnumbers supply. Blanton prides itself on quality over quantity, meaning Buffalo Trace Distillery, who now manage Blanton’s, can only produce minute quantities at a given period.

Although the availability has grown since 2013, the distillery has refused to specify how much, only saying “we just can’t create enough”. Collector demand has skyrocketed, and as a result, Blanton’s quickly sells out, often with a waiting list of customers awaiting the next release.

What Is The Price Of Blanton’s Bourbon

A bottle of Blanton’s Bourbon varies depending on the release. Prices will also vary depending on where you purchase it. At Nestor Liquor our Blanton’s Bourbon prices are low as we are an online liquor store with the overheads of a large retail store.

Generally speaking, Blanton’s prices may vary roughly from $189 to $350.

Blanton

There’s five LMDWs I need. The ’98 and ’99 Paris By Day & Paris By Night as well as some others. There’s something called the Frankfurt 200th Anniversary bottle, and it’s supposed to be the first special bottling of Blanton’s ever, done in celebration of Frankfurt, Kentucky’s bicentennial. It has a unique topper and doesn’t even say Blanton’s on the label.

There’s one that was sold or given I don’t know the true story to readers of a German magazine I can’t pronounce well . It’s hard to find, for sure. We just call it the German Bottle.

There’s also the My Only Blanton’s bottle. In 2006, Takara released a private barrel program. You could buy a barrel yourself or you could buy an allotment of a barrel with a group of 20 people. Both of those labels are extremely unique. The shared offering is actually more rare now. I only know of one bottle.

There Is A Chance Of Inconsistency From Bottle To Bottle

This is both the blessing and the tragedy of a single-barrel product. To achieve a specific flavor profile, most bourbons are made by blending whiskey from multiple barrels. Single-barrel bourbons like Blanton’s, on the other hand, adopt a different strategy. Even when maturing in the same warehouse as additional barrels, each one age differently. As a result, the finished product may taste different from bottle to bottle.

Given that you’re still in bourbon territory, there are only a few variables to consider . There isn’t a huge variety of tastes to choose from. Brown sugar, smoke, caramel, clove, vanilla, hazelnut, orange peel, and other taste characteristics may be present in variable degrees in each barrel.

Why Blantons Costs More Than Other Bourbons

One reason why Blantons costs more than other whiskeys of its class is simply because it has been marketed as something of a luxury brand of bourbon. In order to note this, you need to look no further than their bottle design. This liquor is cased in a grenade-shaped bottle topped with a cap holding one of a series of eight statuettes representing eight stages of a horse race.

Aside from the rich packaging and lineage of the beverage, single-barrel whiskeys always tend to cost more than blends, or alcohol coming from several different casks. For example, Jack Daniels Single Barrel Whiskey is difficult to find for any less than the mid-$40 range, whereas plain Jack costs only about $26.00.

Whether or not theres a real reason for the price hike is unknown, but some people prefer single-barrel because it has a more unique taste than blended bourbons, which are mixed for uniform taste. It might also be more exciting for you to drink these single-barrel bourbons, as you never quite know what to expect.

Legal Or Not Single Barrel Still Really Matters

Sure, well roll our eyes at single-stalk corn syrup and single-pig salami when they inevitably enter the market, but we take the implications of single-barrel bourbon seriously . While bourbon in general is blended by brand and distillery to create a desired flavor profile, a single-barrel bourbon categorically rejects blending. Instead, we embrace whatever inimitable magic the aging process has done to the whiskey inside one particular barrel.

B State Run Liquor Store

Another option is available to folks who live in a state-controlled liquor store state or ABC state where the local state government controls the distribution and/or run the stores. These states strictly control what bottles come into the state, where they go, and how theyre priced and sold. That means that price hikes generally never overshoot MSRP. But that also means that lines form early for big releases like Blantons. Some states require a local drivers license to buy booze, but beyond that wrinkle, this is widely considered a great equalizer for buying bottles.

In addition to their original single barrel bourbon, Blantons also produces a domestic bottling called Gold Edition, as well as two whiskeys available only outside the USA in select international markets: the Special Edition and the Straight from the Barrel bottling.

The Blantons Gold Edition mash bill is not disclosed however, it is suspected that it has a higher rye content than the classic Blantons Bourbon does. Notes of vanilla, tobacco, rye, honey, and dark fruit can be found in this bottle.

Does Blantons Single Barrel Increase In Value

When it comes to fine whiskey, Blantons is one of the finest you can buy. It was introduced in the 1970s and was known as a high-end bourbon at that time. With age, it becomes finer as it acquires some great taste and smells. The best thing about Blantons is that it increases its value over time, unlike other spirits whose value is reduced with age.

10 Bourbons BETTER Than Blantons! – Bourbon Real Talk 137

The first thing you should know is it’s not like Pappy, where bottles comes out once every year. Most of these bottles came out of one or two barrels in one place 10 or 20 years ago it’s a different kind of thing.

Most Blanton’s collectors would call my Sterling Silver the unicorn. A lot of people call it the ‘Starling’ because the name tag was printed with a misspelling of ‘sterling’ on it, but the documentation that comes with the bottle calls it the ‘Sterling.’ The story is that there’s fewer than 100 bottles ever in existence, but there’s not much in the way of verifiable proof of that.

But the true unicorn is the 2012 Le Maison Du Whisky release. They only made one barrel’s worth of bottles in those days, so they’re far more rare. The bar didn’t even hang onto one. They’ve got most of the old ones in there, but not the old one.

The third bottle is the Tazuka 100 year anniversary. There are only seven bottles we know of in the collecting community, and I’ve got two of them.

The 2007 LMDW with the handwritten label was called the Private Stock, that one is very rare as well.

Single Barrel Isnt A Legal Term

Like the all natural on your bologna or farm fresh, quite possibly also on your bologna, single-barrel isnt a legally defined term in the United States. Yes, that leaves a lot of wiggle room for creative interpretation. So far, the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau hasnt set up a legal definition. So for now, were working on the honor system.

Why Is Blantons Hard To Find

Kentucky bourbons have become increasingly uncommon in recent years. Aside from Blanton’s bourbons, other brands like Buffalo Trace, Eagle Rare 10, and Colonel E.H. Taylor has also suffered bottle shortages. Blanton’s whiskey has been in short supply for numerous reasons:

States with Liquor Control Boards

In the United States, each state has its own set of laws and regulations governing the manufacturing, sale, and distribution of alcohol within its borders.

Alabama, Idaho, Iowa, Maine, Michigan, Mississippi, Montana, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, and Wyoming are among the states with liquor control boards.

These boards may be stricter than federal standards, making single barrel bourbons like Blanton’s more challenging to get by.

Rising Demand and Consistent Supply

Blanton’s bourbons are in short supply since the demand for this single barrel bourbon far outnumbers supply. Blanton prides itself on quality over quantity, but the company can only produce so much at a time.

Although availability has grown since 2013 , collector demand has skyrocketed. As a result, Blanton’s is the odd bourbon that only seldom appears on secondary market forums at exorbitant rates, and it’s the whiskey that’s been prone to hoarding.

These days, there are a handful of unicorn bourbons. Names like Weller or Pappy Van Winkle immediately bring a tear to the eye of whiskey drinkers, both for the beauty of the contents and the sharp pain to their wallet. One of the more recent additions to that list is Blantons, a whiskey that has been around since the 1980s but only has become truly popular in the last decade.
