Indigo Girls Join Brandi Carlile In Salt Lake City
The collaborations on “Least Complicated” and “Go” came as part of the singer-songwriter’s encore at Vivint Arena.

Brandi Carlile welcomed Indigo Girls to share the stage during her show on Thursday in Salt Lake City. The duo consisting of Amy Ray and Emily Saliers emerged for two songs as part of the encore last night at Vivint Arena.
Both Indigo Girls and Celisse supported Carlile on the latest stop of the singer-songwriters Beyond These Silent Dreams Tour. Brandi has a long history of collaborating live with Ray and Saliers, including slots opening for the iconic duo in 2008 and 2009 and swapping guest spots at The Greek Theatre in Berkeley, California this past June.
Brandi Carlile brought out Amy Ray, Emily Saliers and Indigo Girls touring member violinist Lyris Hung to lead her band through Least Complicated and Go in the middle of the seven-song encore in Salt Lake City. Indigo Girls originally released the former on 1994s Swamp Ophelia and the latter on 1999s Come On Now Social.

Last nights encore began with Celisse performing her song Freedom with Brandi Carlile and her band. Brandi then went sans guests for a cover of Joni Mitchells Woodstock before inviting Indigo Girls to the stage. The last time Brandi Carliles music graced Salt Lake City, none of us knew the turn history would shortly take.

SALT LAKE CITY Singer-songwriter Brandi Carlile came to town over the weekend and pulled off something big.
Were in the throes of Utah winter and Salt Lake City inversion and normally Im heavy with gloom, but Carlile put on a show that left me feeling enthusiastic about being a human, and determined to be a better one.
Carliles Feb. 8 show at Vivint Arena started out with an hour of music from opening act Tanya Tucker, who is actually in the middle of a vibrant second act. The 61-year-old Tucker just won the first two Grammys of her nearly 50-year career. The first she won for Country Album of the Year and the other for Country Song of the Year, for a song she wrote with Carlile.
Tucker helped set the tone of the night. She cracked jokes, talked about her fond memories of growing up in St. George and how her classmates in Utah showed her more kindness than anywhere else she had lived.
Tucker danced around in her cowboy boots and hat, pulling out better moves than I couldve done, and shes a whole millennial-aged person older than me. And in fact, she has a millennial-aged daughter who sings backup for her. The crowd loved her theatrics and it seemed many were there more for her than Brandi Carlile.
