Down One Bourbon Bar & Restaurant

DowntownDown Ones bourbon list is so large, with 120 bourbons alone, it is divided into eras , all of which find their way into their cocktail menu. At the top of that, you’ll even find a Manhattan made with their own Down One Single Barrel bourbon a proprietary bottling of 10-year-old Knob Creek, and a sure sign a bar is taking its bourbon seriously.

Neat Bourbon Bar & Bottle Shop

When the Kentucky Vintage Spirits Law was enacted in 2018, it paved the way for bars like Neat to purchase unopened bottles from individuals that are not otherwise available from a wholesaler. That means the vintage collection here is mind-boggling and growing all the time, with rare finds like Blantons Takara Black and Takara Gold that were released exclusively to the Japanese market and 1958 Stitzel-Weller Cabin Still. General Manager Craig Rupprecht is a certified bourbon steward and specializes in curating dusty flights of vintage bourbon for guests based on your palate, preferences and budget. The bar has become an industry favorite for reasonable prices on elusive bottles, and you can even stay next door at one of the new suites and lofts at Bungalou Stay & Play. Overnight guests get access to extended hours at the bar too if the alleyway red lights aglow, then the bourbon flows.

According to Zoeller, this is hands down the best barbeque in Louisville.

Its outta this world. You wouldnt think it but they smoke one a hell of a salmon too.

Not only is it well stocked in the booze department, if you feel so inclined you can take your barbecue to-go and eat it at another bar nearby .

Just one look at their website will give you an idea of what you are getting into by going there 90s AOL-esque in design, theres a banner in the dead center of the page that reads: If it aint barbecue it aint food. I didnt claw my way up the food chain to eat vegetables .

They have shitty beer, bourbon-a-plenty, a putt-putt course, ping-pong tables and a wrap around porch, says Zoeller. What else do you need?

Rd Turn Brewings Oldham Gardens Taproom

10 Must

Located down the street from the Jeffersons Distillery, this beer garden just recently opened. Already a favorite of Zoellers, the Oldham Gardens Taproom is the newest outpost of 3rd Turn Brewerys, which also has a taproom in a restored church on Gaslight Square in Jeffersontown.

This location features an indoor taproom and an expansive outdoor patio built under the husk of an old greenhouse. Covered with a canopy of trees, the patio features a 68-foot-long handmade table , a stage for live music and a ring toss court.

Its totally unique and feels like nothing else in town, says Zoeller.

With a laid back Southern atmosphere, this is the kind of bar that you can relax with a beer in hand for hours. When they finally acquire a smoker and the kitchen officially opens, this taproom may be even harder to leave.

About Whiskey Row Louisville Ky

The Absolute Best Bourbons You Need To Try In 2022

Posted by Colonel Bourbon on July 26, 2021

Grab a pour of your favorite juice, and let’s visit a special street that was almost lost. Now it’s a place on the bucket list of many bourbon enthusiasts.

Whiskey Row is an historic district that was once the hub of the bourbon industry. Located between 101 and 133 W. Main Street in Louisville, KY, the block of Chicago-School-style buildings almost got torn down in 2011. The buildings were first built in the 1850s and were used for offices and the warehousing of the whiskey barrels.

Having been saved from demolition, the row faced another threat. On July 6, 2015, three buildings were partially destroyed by fire.

Today, with the renaissance of bourbon, the area is a tourist attraction, with luxury apartments, restaurants, upscale hotels, and the Old Forester Distillery which had been located at 119 West Main Street in the 1880s, and has come home. Old Forester was founded in 1870 and is known as the longest-selling bourbon brand over 150 years. During Prohibition, the company held one of six licenses for manufacturing the alcohol for medicinal purposes.

Besides Old Forrester, this block of Main Street has Troll Pub, Side Bar, Bearno’s and Repeal Oak-Fired Steakhouse. Two bars on the row, Doc Crow’s and Merle’s Whiskey Kitchen were named “Best Bourbon Bar” by The Bourbon Review.

In a town that is known for their pride in alcohol, you better believe that Louisville bars are second to none. In addition to the aforementioned craft breweries, you can find some unique bars to get a little taste of everything.

NuLu aka New Louisville, a super hip up and coming neighborhood is home to a number of fantastic Louisville bars. • Garage Bar | Address: 700 E. Market St, Louisville, KY

Down the street from Garage Bar in NuLu, fans of tacos and/or craft cocktails will love to see Galaxie Bar. Every Wednesday they even have a Trivia Night, so get those know-it-all friends of yours down there .

The Best Louisville Breweries

I was under 21 when I moved away from Louisville, so I might be mis-remembering, but it seems there are a TON of amazing new craft breweries in Louisville! And yes theres plenty of bourbon barrel aged beer. Dont worry. That was my first question, too. If youre looking to sample the best of Louisvilles craft beer scene all in one day you overachiever, you check out this craft beer tour!

I think a defining characteristic of craft breweries is placing quality over profit and output. While thats evident at all of these Louisville breweries, its especially obvious with Monnik Beer, located in Germantown. Monnik Beer sources all of their ingredients locally and wont put a single drop they dont love in your glass. Their beer list is long and varied, making this a crowd pleaser bar for anyone looking to grab a beer in Germantown.

  • Monnik Beer | Address: 1036 E Burnett Ave, Louisville, KY

Like our namesake, the mighty Ohio River, we never stop moving forward is the tagline for Mile Wide Beer, and it shows. The brewery was once a biscuit factory and the very first brewpub in Louisville, and Mile Wide has turned it into something truly special. They have food trucks, arcade games, pub games, and plenty of space for you and your friends to enjoy great beers. Be sure to check out the Wooderson, a mesquite smoked blonde ale. Any Always Sunny fans? Youll get a kick out of the McPoyle, a nitromilk stout.
